In order to clarify the fatigue mechanism of PET tire cords in rubber focusing on chemical degradation, hydrolysis in saturated steam atmosphere, ammonolysis in ammonia gas, and the degradation of the cords embedded in rubber have been studied at high temperature conditions. It was found that the strength loss of polyester tire cords in rubber has linear correlation with the amount of chemically induced chain scissions mainly caused by hydrolysis catalyzed by amines.  相似文献

The influence of the interphase layer, formed by the introduction of an oil in ethylene–propylene rubber (EPR), on the structure and properties of isotactic polypropylene (iPP)/EPR blends was studied. The dispersity of the rubber phase in the iPP matrix did not depend on presence of oil. The melting temperature of iPP decreased with increasing content of oil‐extended EPR, and it did not change if the oil was absent. The compatibility parameter was determined from the dependency of the iPP melting point on the rubber content with the Nishi–Wang equation. A negative value of the parameter indicated a limited compatibility of iPP with oil‐extended EPR. The latter also reduced the temperature and heat of crystallization of iPP. The mechanical properties of iPP/EPR blends were investigated as functions of temperature and elongation rate. It appeared that elastic modulus and yield stress of the blends linearly depended on the logarithm of the elongation rate. Activation volumes, calculated with the Eyring equation, increased with increasing content of elastomer; moreover, this increase was more pronounced for the oil‐extended elastomer. It is suggested that the oil influenced the structure of the interphase layer and, accordingly, the characteristics of the iPP/EPR blends. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We investigated in vitro inhibition of mammalian carbohydrate-degrading enzymes by green tea extract and the component catechins, and further evaluated their inhibitory activities in cell cultures. The extract showed good inhibition toward rat intestinal maltase and rabbit glycogen phosphorylase (GP) b, with IC50 values of 45 and 7.4 μg/ml, respectively. The polyphenol components, catechin 3-gallate (CG), gallocatechin 3-gallate (GCG), epicatechin 3-gallate (ECG), and epigallocatechin 3-gallate (EGCG), were good inhibitors of maltase, with IC50 values of 62, 67, 40, and 16 μM, respectively, and EGCG also showed good inhibition toward maltase expressed on Caco-2 cells, with an IC50 value of 27 μM. The ungallated catechins, such as catechin, gallocatechin (GC), epicatechin (EC), and epigallocatechin (EGC), showed no significant inhibition toward GP b, whereas the gallated catechins CG, GCG, ECG, and EGCG inhibited the enzyme, with IC50 values of 35, 6.3, 27, and 34 μM. From multiple inhibition studies by Dixon plots, GCG appears to bind a new allostelic site, the indole inhibitor site. These gallated catechins also inhibited glucagon-stimulated glucose production dose-dependently, with IC50 values ranging from 33 to 55 μM. Dietary supplementation with these gallated catechins or the green tea extract containing them, which inhibits both α-glucosidases and GP in vitro and in cell culture, would contribute to the protection or improvement of type 2 diabetes.  相似文献

Optimal assessment of myocardial perfusion with contrast echocardiography by using B-mode imaging often requires image alignment and background subtraction, which are time consuming and need extensive expertise. Flash echocardiography is a new technique in which primary images are gated to the electrocardiogram and secondary images are obtained by transmitting ultrasound pulses in rapid succession after each primary image. Myocardial opacification is seen in the primary image and not in the secondary images because of ultrasound-induced bubble destruction. Because the interval between the primary and first few secondary images is very short, cardiac motion between these images should be minimal. Therefore we hypothesized that 1 or more secondary images could be subtracted from the primary image without the need for image alignment. The ability of ultrasound to destroy microbubbles was assessed by varying the sampling rate, line density, and mechanical index in 6 open-chest dogs. The degree of translation between images was quantified in the x and y directions with the use of computer cross-correlation. At sampling rates of 158 Hz or less and a mechanical index of more than 0.6, videointensity rapidly declined to baseline levels by 25 ms. Significant translation between images was noted only at intervals of more than 112 ms. It is concluded that flash echocardiography can be used for digital subtraction of baseline from contrast-enhanced B-mode images without image alignment. Background subtraction is therefore feasible on-line, potentially eliminating the need for off-line image processing in the future.  相似文献

We consider total unimodularity for edge–edge adjacency matrices that represent adjacency relations between pairs of edges in a graph. These matrices appear in integer programming formulations of the minimum maximal matching problem, the edge dominating set problem, and so on. We investigate the problem of characterizing graphs that have totally unimodular edge–edge adjacency matrices, and give a necessary and sufficient condition for characterization. This condition is the first characterization for total unimodularity of edge–edge adjacency matrices.  相似文献

In order to achieve highly accurate resonance calculations with short computation time , a new ultra-fine-group resonance calculation method is developed. The ultra-fine-group method has a limitation in practical design applications of large and complicated geometries in fuel assembly level due to its long computation time. Therefore, we developed an enhanced one-dimensional (1D) cylindrical pin-cell model to achieve both high calculation accuracy and short computation time. In the enhanced 1D cylindrical pin-cell modeling, moderator radius is adjusted to preserve each fuel pellet's Dancoff factor obtained in the exact 2D fuel lattice arrangement. We call this model the ‘equivalent Dancoff-factor’ cell model. This model can accurately consider heterogeneity effects in PWR fuel assemblies and can represent effective cross sections obtained by the ultra-fine-group calculations in the complicated 2D square lattice arrangements. The present method is implemented with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. lattice physics code GALAXY. From the comparisons of neutron multiplication factors and pin power distributions between GALAXY and a continuous-energy Monte Carlo code, applicability of the present method to lattice physics calculations is confirmed. Application of GALAXY with the present method achieves high accuracy with short computation time in normal operations and accident conditions including low moderator density conditions.  相似文献

Variable bit rate (VBR) video is currently by far the most interesting and challenging real-time application. A VBR encoder attempts to keep the quality of video output constant and at the same time reduces bandwidth requirements, since only a minimum amount of information has to be transferred. On the other hand, as VBR video traffic is both highly variable and delay-sensitive, high-speed networks (e.g. ATM) are generally implemented by assigning peak rate bandwidths to VBR video applications. This approach may, however, be inefficient in a satellite network based on a TDMA scheme. To overcome this problem, we have designed a demand assignment satellite bandwidth allocation algorithm in TDMA, named V2L-DA (VBR 2-Level Demand Assignment), which manages the VBR video traffic according to a dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm. In this paper we discuss how to tune the proposed algorithm in order to optimize network utilization when MPEG-1 VBR video traffic is being transmitted. Our results indicate that most of the time only 40% of the peak rate bandwidth is needed to satisfy the VBR source, so the remaining 60% of the peak rate bandwidth can be used to transmit the datagram traffic queued in the network stations. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The mouse recessive deafness mutation, shaker-2(sh-2), represents a plausible model for an autosomal recessive form of human non-syndromic genetic deafness, DFNB3. Here we report the use of a positional cloning approach to show that the gene mutated in sh-2 mice encodes a novel type of unconventional myosin. A G-to-A transition changing cysteine to tyrosine in the conserved actin binding domain is detected in sh-2 but absent in laboratory strains and wild mice belonging to different mouse subspecies and species. This suggests that the novel myosin gene is a strong candidate for DFNB3.  相似文献
