White matter hyperintensities (WMHs) in migraine could be related to inflammatory and antioxidant events. The aim of this study is to verify whether migraine patients with WMHs carry a genetic pro-inflammatory/pro-oxidative status. To test this hypothesis, we analyzed lymphotoxin alpha (LTA; rs2071590T and rs2844482G) and superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1; rs2234694C) and 2 (SOD2; rs4880T) gene polymorphisms (SNPs) in 370 consecutive patients affected by episodic (EM; n = 251) and chronic (CM; n = 119) migraine and in unrelated healthy controls (n = 100). Brain magnetic resonance was available in 183/370 patients. The results obtained show that genotypes and allele frequencies for all tested SNPs did not differ between patients and controls. No association was found between single SNPs or haplotypes and sex, migraine type, cardiovascular risk factors or disorders. Conversely, the LTA rs2071590T (OR = 2.2) and the SOD1 rs2234694C (OR = 4.9) alleles were both associated with WMHs. A four-loci haplotype (TGCT haplotype: rs2071590T/rs2844482G/rs2234694C/rs4880T) was significantly more frequent in migraineurs with WMHs (7 of 38) compared to those without WMHs (4 of 134; OR = 8.7). We may, therefore, conclude by suggesting that that an imbalance between pro-inflammatory/pro-oxidative and antioxidant events in genetically predisposed individuals may influence the development of WMHs.  相似文献

This work demonstrates the possibility of using pelargonic acid (PA) esters as solvents for vegetable-based varnishes. First, PA was efficiently produced through a chemocatalytic cleavage of oleic acid, practicing an optimized scale-up of previously developed conditions. PA was then esterified with several alcohols ROH (R = Me, i-Pr, n-Bu, n-Hex, 2-ethylhexyl, and sec-octyl) and the products were formulated with a commercial rosin (Phenolic Modified Rosin Esters). Dynamic light scattering (DLS) measures and determination of rheological parameters of the corresponding varnishes disclosed their suitability for applications in offset, coldset, heatset printing inks, and coatings. Furthermore, inks obtained were used to efficiently produce preliminary industrial offset prints.  相似文献

Constipation is a frequent complaint among patients with different neurological diseases. This review provides a brief account of the numerous conditions affecting the central, peripheral and intrinsic (enteric) nervous systems in which constipation can be the only clinical manifestation or a component of a complex syndrome. Recent neuropathophysiological acquisitions show that any structural or functional impairment of the intrinsic innervation of the gut, including both developmental (i.e., Hirschsprung's disease and intestinal neuronal dysplasia) and acquired (i.e., either degenerative or inflammatory neuropathies) disorders, can be associated with constipation. Constipation may also arise from derangements of the peripheral nervous system, including diabetes and primary chronic autonomic failure (pandysautonomias). Finally, in the central nervous system, a wide array of disorders (post-traumatic, degenerative, ischaemic or neoplastic) are recognized to determine bowel dysfunction, ultimately leading to constipation. Further understanding of the fine pathophysiological mechanisms through which the intrinsic and extrinsic nerve supplies to the digestive system are involved in idiopathic constipation or in diseases generating this symptom will hopefully lead to a better treatment of this frequent pathological condition.  相似文献

This study examined effects of reward and response costs on the ability of 19 attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and 17 control children to inhibit responding. Children were tested under 4 reinforcement conditions on a go/no-go learning task developed by J. P. Newman, C. S. Widom, and S. Nathan (1985). Two conditions involved both reward and response costs, 1 response costs only, and 1 reward only. ADHD children made more commission errors than controls across the 4 conditions. Analyses of learning curves indicated that group differences became larger on later trials. Thus, impaired inhibition was more generalized in ADHD children than in the psychopaths and extraverts studied by Newman and colleagues, and it became most evident when the children were required to improve learning across trials. We propose a robust variational model for the restoration of images corrupted by blur and the general class of additive white noises. The key idea behind our proposal relies on a novel hard constraint imposed on the residual of the restoration, namely we characterize a residual whiteness set to which the restored image must belong. As the feasible set is unbounded, solution existence results for the proposed variational model are given. Moreover, based on theoretical derivations as well as on Monte Carlo simulations, we provide well-founded guidelines for setting the whiteness constraint limits. The solution of the non-trivial optimization problem, due to the non-smooth non-convex proposed model, is efficiently obtained by an alternating directions method of multipliers, which in particular reduces the solution to a sequence of convex optimization subproblems. Numerical results show the potentiality of the proposed model for restoring blurred images corrupted by several kinds of additive white noises.  相似文献

The photooxidation of poly[bis(4-isopropylphenoxy)phosphazene] under accelerated conditions has been followed by FTIR and UV visible spectroscopic techniques. The main photooxidation products are acetophenone and phenol groups. In addition, acetone vapors have been detected by GC MS combined techniques concomitant with the IR spectral changes in the CH stretching region, suggesting a significant decrease in the isopropyl moieties. The presence of polymeric sequences having phenol groups under our conditions gives origin to further oxidation reactions due to electron transfer or radical recombination or to hydrogen abstraction reactions promoted by unhindered phenoxyl radicals. In addition, the absence of UV visible light, i.e., under thermooxidation reaction at 60° C has demonstrated that phenol groups are the main responsible of secondary oxidation products. The defense mechanism of crops associated with the use of polymeric nets and fabrics is only physical and, hence, ineffective against the bacterial contaminations. The presence of an antibacterial agent associated with the use of conventional agro‐textiles can represent a great advantage in the prevention of plant diseases and for food safety. The aim of this work was the development of antibacterial silver‐coated HDPE nets for an innovative application such as agriculture. Antibacterial coatings on high‐density polyethylene nets were obtained by a patented nanosilver deposition technique based on the in situ photo‐reduction of a silver solution. The concentration of silver deposited was defined by testing different silver solutions from a biological point of view. Moreover, in order to improve the adhesion of the silver coating to the substrate, the nets underwent low‐pressure plasma treatment before the silver deposition. The materials were characterized in terms of quality of the coating through scanning electron microscopy, and in terms of antibacterial capability on Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria through qualitative and quantitative microbiological tests. The most effective process parameters were defined and the importance of performing plasma pretreatment on this specific substrate was assessed. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Although tomato flavor has not been a major goal for breeders, nowadays it becomes important as it is a subject of consumer complaint. A better knowledge of tomato consumer preferences, at the European level, should provide the basis for improvement of fruit quality and for market segmentation. In the framework of a large European project, 806 consumers from 3 countries, The Netherlands, France, and Italy, were presented with a set of 16 varieties representing the diversity of fresh tomato offer in order to evaluate their preferences. In parallel, sensory profiles were constructed by expert panels in each country. Preference maps were then constructed in each country revealing the structure of consumer preferences and allowing identification of the most important characteristics. Then a global analysis revealed that preferences were quite homogeneous across countries. This study identified the overall flavor and firmness as the most important traits for improving tomato fruit quality. It showed that consumer preferences from different European countries, with different cultures and food practices, are segmented following similar patterns when projected onto a common referential plan. Moreover, the results clearly showed that diversification of taste and texture is required to satisfy all consumers' expectations as some consumers preferred firm tomatoes, while others preferred melting ones and were more or less demanding in terms of sweetness and flavor intensity. Detailed comparisons also showed the importance of the fruit appearance in consumer preference.  相似文献
