X-ray microradiographs of small biological objects, such as animals and plant materials at micrometric resolution, are currently performed by various methods, all of which are limited by the resolution or the dynamic range of the image detectors. Here a novel X-ray image detector is discussed, in which the previous limitations have been overcome. A film of lithium fluoride salt is used as a detector, in which the stored biological image is read by observing the optically stimulated visible luminescence of the active color centers, efficiently produced by the X-rays. 相似文献

Based on a recent work by Abraham, Bartal and Neiman (2007), we construct a strictly fundamental cycle basis of length O(n2) for any unweighted graph, whence proving the conjecture of Deo et al. (1982).For weighted graphs, we construct cycle bases of length O(W⋅lognloglogn), where W denotes the sum of the weights of the edges. This improves the upper bound that follows from the result of Elkin et al. (2005) by a logarithmic factor and, for comparison from below, some natural classes of large girth graphs are known to exhibit minimum cycle bases of length Ω(W⋅logn).We achieve this bound for weighted graphs by not restricting ourselves to strictly fundamental cycle bases—as it is inherent to the approach of Elkin et al.—but rather also considering weakly fundamental cycle bases in our construction. Due to an increase in the commercial use of biodiesel and biodiesel blends, both ASTM D 6751 and EN 14214 include the acid number (AN) as an important quality parameter. It was found that determination of AN of biodiesel and biodiesel blends using the ASTM D 974 results in large values of repeatability (up to 73.41%) and larger percentage error (up to 42.88%). Therefore, ASTM D 974 has been modified using a lower concentration of base (0.02 M KOH instead of 0.1 M KOH) as well as reducing the amount of toxic titration solvent from 100 mL to only 10 mL. This makes the modified ASTM D 974 as a green analytical method which uses a reduced amount of toxic solvent. This modified method significantly reduced the maximum percentage error from 42.88 to 5.92%. The application of this modified ASTM D 974 for the determination of AN of biodiesel and biodiesel blends was studied. The accuracy of this modified ASTM D 974 for biodiesel (B100) was measured to be within 3.51% over the AN range of 0.313–0.525 mg KOH/g and maximum repeatability was decreased from 8.37 to 2.75% within this AN range which is far below the ASTM D 974 stated repeatability specifications. For B20, B10, B5, B2, and B1, the most accurate values were measured at AN values of 0.177, 0.067, 0.072, 0.126, and 0.096 mg KOH/g, respectively. Excellent linearity values of R 2 for calculated and experimentally determined AN were obtained. The difference between the experimental and the calculated AN for all biodiesel and biodiesel blend samples was within ± 0.018 mg KOH/g. This extensive study has demonstrated that this modified ASTM D 974 is a reliable method for the determination of AN and could be used for establishing the specifications of AN for biodiesel and biodiesel blends ranging from B1 to B20 in quality standards. 相似文献

In this paper, we present three new globally convergent vision‐based position controllers for a planar manipulator in a fixed‐camera configuration, where the camera orientation and scale factor are considered unknown. This is a basic adaptive visual servoing problem whose solution was hampered by the nonlinear dependence of the system dynamics on the unknown parameters. Proposing a suitable reparameterization of the systems mathematical model, and exploiting some structural properties of it, we propose three different solutions to the problem. The first one is the certainty equivalent version of the known parameter controller and requires some excitation conditions to ensure global asymptotic convergence. A second version of the controller, which is now slightly more complicated and, possibly, needs to inject some high gain but requires significantly weaker excitation conditions, is given. Finally, we propose a slight modification to the second scheme to achieve the trajectory tracking in finite time. Background: The assessment of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) gene amplification is essential in order to identify those patients affected by advanced gastric cancer who may benefit from Trastuzumab targeted therapy. Materials and Methods: With the aim to investigate the concordance rate in HER2 status between primary gastric carcinoma (GC) and synchronous lymphnode metastases, we investigated HER2 status in a cohort of 108 surgical formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded specimens of GC and matched synchronous metastatic lymph nodes collected from three different units of Anatomic Pathology in southern of Italy. Fleiss-Cohen weighted k statistics were used to assess the concordance rate of HER2 status. Results: HER2 amplification was observed in 17% of primary GCs and the overall concordance rate with corresponding nodal metastases was 90.74%. Changes in HER2 status between primary GC and matched synchronous metastases were evidenced in 10 (9.26%) cases. Of these, 6 cases were HER2 amplified in the primary GC and not amplified in the metastases, while 4 were HER2 not amplified in the primary tumour and amplified in the lymph node metastases. Conclusions: Although at present the simultaneous determination of HER2 in advanced gastric cancer and corresponding metastatic lymph nodes is not mandatory, the possibility that the synchronous metastases of GC have a different HER2 status from that of the primary tumour is of remarkable significance; Indeed this may have influence on the therapeutic management and prognosis of the patients. 相似文献
