Mixed-valence polycyanides (Prussian Blue analogues) possess a rich palette of properties spanning from room-temperature ferromagnetism to zero thermal expansion, which can be tuned by chemical modifications or the application of external stimuli (temperature, pressure, light irradiation). While molecule-based materials can combine physical and chemical properties associated with molecular-scale building blocks, their successful integration into real devices depends primarily on higher-order properties such as crystal size, shape, morphology, and organization. Herein a study of a new reduced-dimensionality system based on Prussian Blue analogues (PBAs) is presented. The system is built up by means of a modified Langmuir-Blodgett technique, where the PBA is synthesized from precursors in a self-limited reaction on a clay mineral surface. The focus of this work is understanding the magnetic properties of the PBAs in different periodic, low-dimensional arrangements, and the influence of the "on surface" synthesis on the final properties and dimensionality of the system.  相似文献

Spin injection and detection is achieved in freely suspended graphene using cobalt electrodes and a nonlocal spin‐valve geometry. The devices are fabricated with a single electron‐beam‐resist poly(methyl methacrylate) process that minimizes both the fabrication steps and the number of (aggressive) chemicals used, greatly reducing contamination and increasing the yield of high‐quality, mechanically stable devices. As‐grown devices can present mobilities exceeding 104 cm2 V?1 s?1 at room temperature and, because the contacts deposited on graphene are only exposed to acetone and isopropanol, the method is compatible with almost any contacting material. Spin accumulation and spin precession are studied in these nonlocal spin valves. Fitting of Hanle spin precession data in bilayer and multilayer graphene yields a spin relaxation time of ~125‐250 ps and a spin diffusion length of 1.7‐1.9 μm at room temperature.  相似文献

An intercomparison of the algorithms used to retrieve aerosol extinction and backscatter starting from Raman lidar signals has been performed by 11 groups of lidar scientists involved in the European Aerosol Research Lidar Network (EARLINET). This intercomparison is part of an extended quality assurance program performed on aerosol lidars in the EARLINET. Lidar instruments and aerosol backscatter algorithms were tested separately. The Raman lidar algorithms were tested by use of synthetic lidar data, simulated at 355, 532, 386, and 607 nm, with realistic experimental and atmospheric conditions taken into account. The intercomparison demonstrates that the data-handling procedures used by all the lidar groups provide satisfactory results. Extinction profiles show mean deviations from the correct solution within 10% in the planetary boundary layer (PBL), and backscatter profiles, retrieved by use of algorithms based on the combined Raman elastic-backscatter lidar technique, show mean deviations from solutions within 20% up to 2 km. The intercomparison was also carried out for the lidar ratio and produced profiles that show a mean deviation from the solution within 20% in the PBL. The mean value of this parameter was also calculated within a lofted aerosol layer at higher altitudes that is representative of typical layers related to special events such as Saharan dust outbreaks, forest fires, and volcanic eruptions. The sewage sludge dewatering produced by wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) is a multifaceted process due to the presence of colloid fractions. Electro-osmosis could be a suitable technique to reduce the water content of the final sludge. Electric fields of 10, 15, and 20?V/cm have been studied for electro-osmosis tests under the pressure of a static or rotating piston, obtaining a dry solids content up to 40–45%, with respect to 25–30% obtained by mechanical methods. In order to optimize the process, the corrosion behavior and the wear of the anodic material appear to be the main critical aspects, due to the high circulating current density and the use of a rotating electrode. We compared the efficiency and the corrosion resistance of dimensionally stable anodes (DSA) with respect to bare stainless steel (AISI 304) and stainless steel coated by PVD technique with TiN, AlTiN, and DLC. Characterization of the anode surfaces by SEM and potentiodynamic tests show that DSA is the most suitable material for our application. However, efficiencies of the electro-osmosis processes have been found comparable, in terms of developed current densities and total energy consumptions, for short-test duration.  相似文献

The flexibility and unexpected dynamic behavior of a third‐generation metal–organic framework are described for the first time. The synthetic strategy is based on the flexibility and spherical shape of dipyridyl‐based carborane linkers that act as pillars between rigid Co/BTB (BTB: 1,3,5‐benzenetricarboxylate) layers, providing a 3D porous structure ( 1 ). A phase transition of the solid can be induced to generate a new, nonporous 2D structure ( 2 ) without any loss of the carborane linkers. The structural transformation is visualized by snapshots of the multistep single‐crystal‐to‐single‐crystal transformation by single‐crystal and powder X‐ray diffraction. Poor hydrogen bond acceptors such as MeOH, CHCl3 or supercritical CO2 induce such a 3D to 2D transformation. Remarkably, the transformation is reversible and the 2D phase 2 is further converted back into 1 by heating in dimethylformamide. The energy requirements involved in such processes are investigated using periodic density functional theory calculations. As a proof of concept for potential applications, encapsulation of C60 is achieved by trapping this molecule during the reversible 2D to 3D phase transition, whereas no adsorption is observed by straight solvent diffusion into the pores of the 3D phase.  相似文献

We synthesized crystalline Erbium Er3+ and Ytterbium Yb3+ codoped -Lu2O3 nanolayers on SiO2 microspheres using the modified Pechini method. Two different kinds of precursors, nitrates and chlorides, have been used leading to a layer-to-layer morphology and necklaces structures, respectively. In both cases, the size of nanocrystallites constituting the optical active layer is around 5 nm. We performed X-ray powder diffraction to confirm the cubic crystalline structure of the sesquioxides layer. High resolution transmission electron microscopy analyses corroborate the crystalline nature of the layer. The optical emission of Er3+ in the visible range has been recorded.  相似文献

The easy detection of biomolecular interactions in complex mixtures using a minimum amount of material is of prime interest in molecular and cellular biology research. In this work, a mass spectrometry MALDI-TOF based approach, which we call intensity-fading (IF MALDI-TOFMS), and which was designed for just such a purpose, is reported. This methodology is based on the use of the MALDI ion intensities to detect quickly the formation of complexes between nonimmobilized biomolecules in which a protein is one of the partners (protein-protein, protein-peptide, protein-organic molecule, and protein-nucleic acid complexes). The complex is detected through the decrease (fading) of the molecular ion intensities of the partners as directly compared to the MALDI mass spectrum of the mixture (problem and control molecules) following the addition of the target molecule. The potential of the approach is examined in several examples of model interactions, mainly involving small nonprotein and protein inhibitors of proteases, at both the qualitative and semiquantitative levels. Using this method, different protein ligands of proteolytic enzymes in total extracts of invertebrate organisms have been identified in a simple way. The proposed procedure should be easily applied to the high-throughput screening of biomolecules, opening a new experimental strategy in functional proteomics.  相似文献

The impingement of bubbly jets in distilled water and ethanol has been experimentally studied on ground. An experimental apparatus for the study of jet impingement on ground and in microgravity has been designed. The opposed-jet configuration with changeable orientation is used in order to study which is the better disposition to achieve an efficient mixing process. The impact angle between jets that can be changed from 0° (frontal collision) up to 90° (perpendicular collision). The impinging jets are introduced into a test tank full of liquid by means of two bubble injectors. The bubble generation method, insensitive to gravity level for low Bond numbers, is based on the creation of a slug flow inside a T-junction of capillary tubes of 0.7 mm of diameter. Bubble velocities at the injector outlet and generation frequencies can be controlled by changing gas and liquid flow rates. Individual bubble properties and coalescence events, as well as the whole jet structure are analyzed from the images recorded by a high speed camera. Bubble velocities are compared with the velocity field of a single-phase jet. Rate of coalescence between bubbles is found higher in ethanol than in water, creating a higher dispersion in bubble sizes.  相似文献

Legal suits against visceral surgeons have increased since the advent of laparoscopic surgery. The duties of physicians have not however changed with the development of laparoscopic techniques. Since the decree promulgated in 1936, physicians have a legal commitment to provide the means required for patient care. This obligation has been recalled in different court judgements and in the new deontology code. In addition, jurisprudence tends more and more towards responsibility without risk. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is not risk-free. Although morbidity and mortality have not risen with laparoscopic procedures, the types of complications encountered have changed. Reported accidents have become more frequent. The number of suits against surgeons has also increased. Surgeons must therefore be highly prudent and diligent. Precautions concerning personnel management, the choice of material and its upkeep. Special care must be given to the peroperative pneumoperitoneum and the use of monopolar electrocoagulation. A peroperative cholangiogram should be obtained. A careful operative report is very important. The surgeon must be able to justify his competence. Finally, the surgical community should publish more results concerning the rate of complications in order to establish reference material for experts.  相似文献

Latent inhibition (LI), poorer performance on a learning task to a previously irrelevant stimulus than to a novel stimulus, was produced in 4 experiments, using a within-subject design and a response time (RT) measure. LI was reduced by decreasing the number of stimulus preexposures, omitting the masking task, changing the context from the preexposure to the test phase, and introducing a delay between the 2 phases. Together, these effects indicate that the within-subject RT-based LI reflects the same processes as those that govern between-subject LI with correct response as the dependent measure. The new procedure provides an advantageous method for assessing attentional dysfunction related to the processing of irrelevant stimuli, particularly in pathological groups, such as patients with schizophrenia.
