In this paper, we approach the problem of identifying a set of objects in an RFID network. We propose a modified version of Slotted Aloha protocol to reduce the number of transmission collisions. All tags select a slot to transmit their ID by generating a random number. If there is a collision in a slot, the reader broadcasts the next identification request only to tags which collided in that slot. Besides, we present an extensive comparative evaluation of collision resolution protocols for tag identification problem in RFID networks. After a quick survey of the best performing RFID tag identification protocols, both deterministic and probabilistic, we present the outcome of intensive simulation experiments set up to evaluate several metrics, such as the total delay of identification process and the bit complexity of reader and tags. The last metric is strictly related to energy constraints required by an RFID system. The experiments point out that our protocol outperform all the other protocols in most cases, and matches them in the others.  相似文献

With the purpose of developing biosensors, the reliable proof of the biological activity of two new sensor systems was obtained by atomic force microscopy (AFM) in both the imaging and the single-molecule force spectroscopy modes. Antigens or antibodies of pharmacological interest were grafted onto self-assembled monolayers of thiols on gold, and AFM imaging demonstrated that the grafting process produced homogeneous submonolayers of isolated proteins. The analysis of the morphology of the surfaces at the different functionalization steps allowed evaluating the protein grafting density and showed that the recognition of complementary species present in the surrounding solution occurred. Single-molecule force spectroscopy experiments between the sensing surfaces and AFM probes, onto which the complementary species were grafted, enabled a direct and rapid test of the biological activity of the sensors by investigating the interaction occurring at the level of one single ligand-receptor bond. Ellipsometry and surface plasmon resonance allowed further characterization of the sensor surfaces and confirmed that the biological recognition took place.  相似文献

TiO2 coatings on AA6082 aluminium alloy were obtained at low temperature (80 and 100°C) by the sol–gel dip-coating technique starting from titanium tetra-isopropoxide solution in ethyl alcohol. The preparation was carried out in the presence of acetic acid with both functions of catalyst and chelating agent. The curing temperatures used for these coatings are between 80 and 100°C, low enough to make such coatings suitable to incorporate additives such as organic inhibitors or polymeric nanoparticles. The coated samples were characterised by scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Compact coatings with a thickness of 500?nm, consisting of amorphous and nearly stoichiometric titanium dioxide, were obtained. EIS results revealed an effective corrosion protection of the substrate for more than 120?h of immersion in 3.5?wt-% NaCl aqueous solution.  相似文献

Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) play an important role in many central nervous system disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. The α4β2 subtype has emerged as an important target for the early diagnosis and amelioration of Alzheimer’s disease symptoms. Herein we report a new class of α4β2 receptor ligands characterized by a basic pyrrolidine nucleus, the basicity of which was properly decreased through the insertion of a fluorine atom at the 3‐position, and a pyridine ring carrying at the 3‐position substituents known to positively affect affinity and selectivity toward the α4β2 subtype. Derivatives 3‐(((2S,4R)‐4‐fluoropyrrolidin‐2‐yl)methoxy)‐5‐(phenylethynyl)pyridine ( 11 ) and 3‐((4‐fluorophenyl)ethynyl)‐5‐(((2S,4R)‐4‐fluoropyrrolidin‐2‐yl)methoxy)pyridine ( 12 ) were found to be the most promising ligands identified in this study, showing good affinity and selectivity for the α4β2 subtype and physicochemical properties predictive of a relevant central nervous system penetration.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The article describes the results of a research on the theme of regeneration of urban public spaces in historical centres. A multidisciplinary methodological approach of cooperation of various knowledge was adopted to define, also through the application of open and inclusive participatory approaches, precise intervention actions. The research uses two areas on the edge of the historical city of Cosenza (Italy) as a case study. The research, therefore, has achieved, among its main results, that of reinforcing the awareness that an urban context unable to maintain relationships loses its meaning and becomes but a museum of itself.  相似文献

We previously showed that mesothelial cells in human peritoneum express the water channel aquaporin 1 (AQP1) at the plasma membrane, suggesting that, although in a non-physiological context, it may facilitate osmotic water exchange during peritoneal dialysis (PD). According to the three-pore model that predicts the transport of water during PD, the endothelium of peritoneal capillaries is the major limiting barrier to water transport across peritoneum, assuming the functional role of the mesothelium, as a semipermeable barrier, to be negligible. We hypothesized that an intact mesothelial layer is poorly permeable to water unless AQP1 is expressed at the plasma membrane. To demonstrate that, we characterized an immortalized cell line of human mesothelium (HMC) and measured the osmotically-driven transmesothelial water flux in the absence or in the presence of AQP1. The presence of tight junctions between HMC was investigated by immunofluorescence. Bioelectrical parameters of HMC monolayers were studied by Ussing Chambers and transepithelial water transport was investigated by an electrophysiological approach based on measurements of TEA+ dilution in the apical bathing solution, through TEA+-sensitive microelectrodes. HMCs express Zo-1 and occludin at the tight junctions and a transepithelial vectorial Na+ transport. Real-time transmesothelial water flux, in response to an increase of osmolarity in the apical solution, indicated that, in the presence of AQP1, the rate of TEA+ dilution was up to four-fold higher than in its absence. Of note, we confirmed our data in isolated mouse mesentery patches, where we measured an AQP1-dependent transmesothelial osmotic water transport. These results suggest that the mesothelium may represent an additional selective barrier regulating water transport in PD through functional expression of the water channel AQP1.  相似文献

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) seed represents an important source for edible oil and its protein fraction is also recognised as valuable for human consumption when suitably purified from polyphenols, which negatively affect colour and nutritional value. On this basis, a main research has been developed, with the aim of testing the technical feasibility of a supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) process involving a preliminary supercritical CO2 (SC‐CO2) extraction of oil from sunflower de‐hulled seeds, followed by the removal of polyphenols from de‐fatted meal by means of ethanol coupled with SC‐CO2. The paper reports the experimental protocol followed, together with the kinetics of the extractions, knowledge of which allows the optimisation of working parameters and the determination of process yields.  相似文献

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), mainly ischemic heart disease (IHD) and stroke, are the leading cause of global mortality and major contributors to disability worldwide. Despite their heterogeneity, almost all CVDs share a common feature: the endothelial dysfunction. This is defined as a loss of functionality in terms of anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic and vasodilatory abilities of endothelial cells (ECs). Endothelial function is greatly ensured by the mechanotransduction of shear forces, namely, endothelial wall shear stress (WSS). Low WSS is associated with endothelial dysfunction, representing the primary cause of atherosclerotic plaque formation and an important factor in plaque progression and remodeling. In this work, the role of factors released by ECs subjected to different magnitudes of shear stress driving the functionality of downstream endothelium has been evaluated. By means of a microfluidic system, HUVEC monolayers have been subjected to shear stress and the conditioned media collected to be used for the subsequent static culture. The results demonstrate that conditioned media retrieved from low shear stress experimental conditions (LSS-CM) induce the downregulation of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) expression while upregulating peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) adhesion by means of higher levels of adhesion molecules such as E-selectin and ICAM-1. Moreover, LSS-CM demonstrated a significant angiogenic ability comparable to the inflammatory control media (TNFα-CM); thus, it is likely related to tissue suffering. We can therefore suggest that ECs stimulated at low shear stress (LSS) magnitudes are possibly involved in the paracrine induction of peripheral endothelial dysfunction, opening interesting insights into the pathogenetic mechanisms of coronary microvascular dysfunction.  相似文献
