We propose two procedures to extract information about the trapping processes that occur in organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) that exhibit both contact and hysteresis effects. In particular, the variation of trapped charge during hysteresis cycles is determined by the separate analysis of current–voltage curves for the intrinsic transistor and for the contact region. The extraction of these curves is done with the help of our previous compact model that reproduces the current–voltage characteristics of OTFTs with contact effects. The model is used to fit experimental output characteristics with hysteresis and to extract the parameters of the model, such as the mobility and the threshold voltage. The variation of the threshold voltage with trapped charges during voltage cycling and using existing transistor models results in different sets of parameters needed to reproduce the experimental data. However, not all these parameters have proper physical meanings. In order to find a unique physical solution, the current–voltage curves of the contacts and current–voltage curves of the intrinsic transistor, extracted from the output characteristics measured at the transistor terminals, are separately analyzed. The study of the evolution with the gate voltage of the free-charge density in the contact allows for finding this unique solution. The results of this method are compared with published results that use more elaborate experimental techniques, such as the four-terminal method or transient experiments.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate the application of: (1) freeze drying, (2) convective drying (50, 60, or 70 °C), (3) vacuum–microwave drying (240, 360, or 480 W), and (4) a combined method of convective pre-drying and vacuum–microwave finish drying in the processing of pomegranate arils and rind. The quality parameters under study included sugars and organic acids, punicalagins and ellagic acid, total polyphenols, total antioxidant activity, and sensory quality. In general, drying led to a reduction in all studied parameters; however, the behavior of arils and rind was different. Vacuum–microwave drying at 240 or 360 W was the best drying treatment for arils, while rind required freeze drying or soft conditions of convective drying (50 °C). Further research is needed to obtain proper results with convective pre-drying and vacuum–microwave finish drying of arils and rind. With proper selection of the drying protocol, high-quality dried arils will be available for consumers; these arils will be characterized by high contents of fructose (25 g 100 g?1), phytic acid (2.2 g 100 g?1), punicalagins (0.57 mg g?1), total polyphenols (1.6 mg eq gallic acid g?1), high antioxidant capacity (0.6 mg eq Trolox g?1), and high intensities of garnet color, sweetness, sourness, and fresh pomegranate aroma. Besides, dried rind with very high contents of active compounds (123 mg g?1 of punicalagins and 108 mg eq gallic acid g?1) and high antioxidant capacity (26 mg eq Trolox g?1) will be also available as functional material.  相似文献

Several orders of magnitude of change in resistance are observed upon chemical doping and dedoping of the conducting polymer polyaniline. This large conductivity range can be utilized to make sensitive chemical sensors. Polyaniline, in its nanofiber form, has even greater sensing capabilities due to the small fiber diameters, high surface area, and porous nanofiber network that enhances gas diffusion into the fibers. Polyaniline nanofibers have been synthesized using a rapid mixing method and dispersed in water allowing them to be easily modified with water soluble agents, making new composite materials. Polyaniline nanofiber composite materials can be used to enhance detection of analytes that unmodified polyaniline would not otherwise be able to detect. The detection mechanism involves the reaction of an additive with the analyte to generate a strong acid that is easily detected by polyaniline, resulting in orders of magnitude changes in resistance. The reaction of the additive alone with the analyte produces no electrical response, however. In this paper, an array of amine-polyaniline nanofiber composite materials is investigated for the detection of phosgene gas. The influence of environmental conditions such as humidity and temperature are examined and a detection mechanism is presented.   相似文献

Optimization of testing and maintenance activities performed in the different systems of a complex industrial plant is of great interest as the plant availability and economy strongly depend on the maintenance activities planned. Traditionally, two types of models, i.e. deterministic and probabilistic, have been considered to simulate the impact of testing and maintenance activities on equipment unavailability and the cost involved. Both models present uncertainties that are often categorized as either aleatory or epistemic uncertainties. The second group applies when there is limited knowledge on the proper model to represent a problem, and/or the values associated to the model parameters, so the results of the calculation performed with them incorporate uncertainty. This paper addresses the problem of testing and maintenance optimization based on unavailability and cost criteria and considering epistemic uncertainty in the imperfect maintenance modelling. It is framed as a multiple criteria decision making problem where unavailability and cost act as uncertain and conflicting decision criteria. A tolerance interval based approach is used to address uncertainty with regard to effectiveness parameter and imperfect maintenance model embedded within a multiple-objective genetic algorithm. A case of application for a stand-by safety related system of a nuclear power plant is presented. The results obtained in this application show the importance of considering uncertainties in the modelling of imperfect maintenance, as the optimal solutions found are associated with a large uncertainty that influences the final decision making depending on, for example, if the decision maker is risk averse or risk neutral.  相似文献

This paper analyses a catastrophic crankshaft failure of a four-stroke 18 V diesel engine of a power plant for electrical generation when running at a nominal speed of 1500 rpm. The rated power of the engine was 1.5 MW, and before failure it had accumulated 20,000 h in service operating mainly at full load. The fracture occurred in the web between the 2nd journal and the 2nd crankpin. The mechanical properties of the crankshaft including tensile properties and surface hardness (HV1) were evaluated. Fractographic studies show that fatigue is the dominant mechanism of crankshaft failure, where the beach marks can be clearly identified. A thin and very hard zone was discovered in the template surface close to the fracture initiation point, which suggests that this was the origin of the fatigue fracture. A finite element model of the crankshaft has predicted that the most heavily loaded areas match the fractured zone.  相似文献

This research investigates the connection between emotional intelligence (EI) and creativity. This was studied by exploring: (i) an association between leaders' EI and their followers' creative output; (ii) an association between six sub‐dimensions of EI and creativity; and (iii) a mediating role of climate in the link between EI and creativity. Two questionnaires (one for leaders and one for employees) were used to collect data in a hospital. Sixty‐six usable leader‐employee dyads were collected. The findings confirmed a positive relationship between leaders' EI and employees' creativity. At an EI's sub‐dimensions level, the current research showed an association between creativity, on one hand, and self‐encouragement and understanding of own emotions, on the other. Finally, no mediating effect of climate was observed. The absence of a mediating effect is interesting, since it suggests a direct link between leaders' EI and employees' creativity, regardless of the climate. This is important, since it calls attention to the paramount role of leaders in shaping individual and organizational behaviours as far as creativity is concerned. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a cancer treatment modality based on the administration of a photosensitizer (PS), which accumulates preferentially in tumor cells. Subsequent irradiation of the neoplastic area triggers a cascade of photochemical reactions that leads to the formation of highly reactive oxygen species responsible for cell inactivation. Photodynamic treatments in vitro are performed with the PS, zinc-phthalocyanine (ZnPc). The PS is near the plasma membrane during uptake and internalization. Inactivation clearly occurs by a necrotic process, manifested by nuclear pyknosis, negative TUNEL and Annexin V assays and non-relocation of cytochrome c. In contrast, by increasing the incubation time, ZnPc is accumulated in the Golgi apparatus and produces cell inactivation with characteristics of apoptosis and necrosis: TUNEL positive, relocated cytochrome c and negative Annexin V assay. This type of death produces a still undescribed granulated nuclear morphology, which is different from that of necrosis or apoptosis. This morphology is inhibited by necrostatin-1, a specific inhibitor of regulated necrosis.  相似文献

In this work the use of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) for cross‐linking of chitosan hydrogel beads was studied at the level of 1 mmol TEOS per gram of chitosan. They were compared with glutaraldehyde and epichlorohydrin cross‐linked beads. The hydrogels were characterized by FTIR, SEM, water content, nitrogen content, and their point of zero charge. The performance of the anionic dye Remazol Black (RB) and the cationic Cd(II) adsorptions was assessed in order to characterize the sorbate–sorbent interaction. Adsorption experimental data were analyzed using two‐ and three‐parameter isotherm models along with the evaluation of mean adsorption energy and standard free energy. The adsorption was observed to be pH dependent. The uptake rate of RB and Cd(II) showed that the three type of beads followed a similar kinetic behavior. For both sorbates the TEOS cross‐linked beads showed the higher maximum adsorption capacity, followed by epichlorohydrin and glutaraldehyde cross‐linked beads. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. The concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined in nine popular smoked fish species, (Clarias gariepinus, Parachana obscura, Heterotis niloticus, Pseudotolithus senegalensis, Gymnarchus niloticus, Ethmalosa fimbriata, Sardinella aurita, Scromber scrombus and Trachurus trachurus), in the Nigerian market by using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry after extraction by ultrasonication with hexane/dichloromethane. The mean concentrations of ∑16 PAHs in these species ranged from 52.4 μg kg?1 to 1230 μg kg?1. The estimated margins of exposure (MOE values) were less than 10,000 for C. gariepinus, G. niloticus and E. fimbriata indicating serious concern for the consumers’ health. The estimated excess cancer risk factors for these fish species investigated indicate that approximately 1 to 65 out of 106 equally exposed adults may suffer from cancer and cancer-related diseases during their lifetime through the ingestion of carcinogenic PAHs from smoked fish in their diet.  相似文献

Global temperature is expected to rise throughout this century, and blooms of cyanobacteria in lakes and estuaries are predicted to increase with the current level of global warming. The potential environmental, economic and sanitation repercussions of these blooms have attracted considerable attention among the world’s scientific communities, water management agencies and general public. Of particular concern is the worldwide occurrence of hepatotoxic cyanobacteria posing a serious threat to global public health. Here, we highlight plausible effects of global warming on physiological and molecular changes in these cyanobacteria and resulting effects on hepatotoxin production. We also emphasize the importance of understanding the natural biological function(s) of hepatotoxins, various mechanisms governing their synthesis, and climate-driven changes in food-web interactions, if we are to predict consequences of the current and projected levels of global warming for production and accumulation of hepatotoxins in aquatic ecosystems.  相似文献
