A new experimental approach for the characterization of the diametrical elastic modulus of individual nanowires is proposed by implementing a micro/nanoscale diametrical compression test geometry, using a flat punch indenter. A 250 nm diameter single crystal silicon nanowire is compressed inside of a scanning electron microscope. Since silicon is highly anisotropic, the wire crystal orientation in the compression axis is determined by electron backscatter diffraction. In order to analyze the load-displacement compression data, a two-dimensional analytical closed-form solution based on a classical contact model is proposed. The results of the analytical model are compared with those of finite element simulations and to the experimental diametrical compression results and show good agreement.  相似文献

The wavefront sensor in active and adaptive telescopes is usually not in the optical path toward the scientific detector. It may generate additional wavefront aberrations, which have to be separated from the errors due to the telescope optics. The aberrations that are not rotationally symmetric can be disentangled from the telescope aberrations by a series of measurements taken in the center of the field, with the wavefront sensor at different orientation angles with respect to the focal plane. This method has been applied at the VLT Survey Telescope on the ESO Paranal observatory.  相似文献

This study addresses the cellular uptake and intracellular trafficking of 15‐nm gold nanoparticles (NPs), either plain (i.e., stabilized with citrate) or coated with polyethylene glycol (PEG), exposed to human alveolar epithelial cells (A549) at the air–liquid interface for 1, 4, and 24 h. Quantitative analysis by stereology on transmission electron microscopy images reveals a significant, nonrandom intracellular distribution for both NP types. No particles are observed in the nucleus, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, or golgi. The cytosol is not a preferred cellular compartment for both NP types, although significantly more PEG‐coated than citrate‐stabilized NPs are present there. The preferred particle localizations are vesicles of different sizes (<150, 150–1000, >1000 nm). This is observed for both NP types and indicates a predominant uptake by endocytosis. Subsequent inhibition of caveolin‐ and clathrin‐mediated endocytosis by methyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (MβCD) results in a significant reduction of intracellular NPs. The inhibition, however, is more pronounced for PEG‐coated than citrate‐stabilized NPs. The latter are mostly found in larger vesicles; therefore, they are potentially taken up by macropinocytosis, which is not inhibited by MβCD. With prolonged exposure times, both NPs are preferentially localized in larger‐sized intracellular vesicles such as lysosomes, thus indicating intracellular particle trafficking. This quantitative evaluation reveals that NP surface coatings modulate endocytotic uptake pathways and cellular NP trafficking. Other nonendocytotic entry mechanisms are found to be involved as well, as indicated by localization of a minority of PEG‐coated NPs in the cytosol.  相似文献

In this work, four heteroleptic Ni(II)dppe dithiolates complexes, [Ni(NED)(dppe)] (Ni-NED), [Ni(ecda)(dppe)] (Ni-ecda), [Ni(i-mnt)(dppe)] (Ni-i-mnt) and [Ni(cdc)(dppe)] (Ni-cdc) (dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane; NED = 1-nitroethylene-2,2-dithiolate; ecda = 1-ethoxycarbonyl-1-cyanoethyelene-2,2-dithiolate; i-mnt = 1,1-dicyanoethylene-2,2-dithiolate and cdc = cyanodithioimidocarbonate), have been synthesized and characterized by analytical and spectroscopic techniques (Elemental analysis, vibrational, electronic absorption and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy). Structural characterization of all the four complexes by single crystal X-ray diffraction study suggests distortion in regular square planar geometry at Ni(II) center by coordination with two phosphorus of the dppe and two sulfur of the dithiolate ligands, respectively. The decomposition of all four complexes have been done to produce nickel sulfides and the resulting nickel sulfides have been utilized for electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The nickel sulfide obtained by decomposing Ni-cdc shows best activity with overpotential η = 222 mV at j = 10 mA cm?2 and a Tafel slope of 44.2 mV dec?1 while other catalysts shows η > 470 mV at j = 5 mA cm?2 and η > 600 mV at j = 10 mA cm?2 at loading of 1.3 mg cm?2.  相似文献
