To study the activity of the different desaturases present in the pheromone biosynthetic pathway of the Egyptian armyworm,
Spodoptera littoralis, we prepared a series of mono-and gem-difluorinated analogs of myristic acid with halogen substitution at the C8–C11 positions of the aliphatic chain via specifically positioned dithiane precursors. Thus, transformation of dithianes by treatment with N-bromosuccinimide in the presence of H2O followed by reduction with LiAIH4 afforded the appropriate alcohols, which reacted with diethylaminosulfur trifluoride to give rise to the corresponding monofluoroderivative
intermediates. Alternatively, the introduction of the gem-difluoro functionality was carried out by reaction of the appropriate dithiane intermediate with 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin
in the presence of HF/pyridine. The activity of these fluorinated FA as substrates and inhibitors of the desaturases involved
in the biosynthesis of the sex pheromonal blend of S. littoralis has been studied. In this case, 11-fluorotetradecanoic acid elicited a moderate inhibitory activity of Δ11 desaturase. 相似文献

Flame retardant epoxy resins based on diglycidyl ether of isobutyl bis(hydroxypropyl)phosphine oxide
Phosphorous‐containing epoxy resins were prepared from diglycidyl ether of isobutyl bis(hydroxypropyl)phosphine oxide (IHPOGly) and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) by crosslinking with 2,4‐diaminotoluene. Several IHPOGly/DGEBA molar ratios were used to obtain materials with different phosphorous content. Thermal, dynamomechanical, and flame retardant properties were evaluated and related with the phosphorous content. The weight loss rate of phosphorous‐containing resins is lower than that of the phosphorous‐free resin for the thermoxidative degradation. Char yields under nitrogen do not show significant differences among the phosphorous‐containing resins and the phosphorous‐free resin, while under air char yields increase with the phosphorous content. The presence of phosphorous increases the limiting oxygen index (LOI) values even when the phosphorous content is low, and no significant differences with the phosphorous content are observed. The present study explored the hypothesis that an adverse intrauterine environment caused by maternal undernutrition (MUN) acted through corticosteroid-dependent and -independent mechanisms to program lasting functional changes in the neonatal cerebrovasculature and vulnerability to mild hypoxic-ischemic (HI) injury. From day 10 of gestation until term, MUN and MUN-metyrapone (MUN-MET) group rats consumed a diet restricted to 50% of calories consumed by a pair-fed control; and on gestational day 11 through term, MUN-MET groups received drinking water containing MET (0.5 mg/mL), a corticosteroid synthesis inhibitor. P9/P10 pups underwent unilateral carotid ligation followed 24 h later by 1.5 h exposure to 8% oxygen (HI treatment). An ELISA quantified MUN-, MET-, and HI-induced changes in circulating levels of corticosterone. In P11/P12 pups, MUN programming promoted contractile differentiation in cerebrovascular smooth muscle as determined by confocal microscopy, modulated calcium-dependent contractility as revealed by cerebral artery myography, enhanced vasogenic edema formation as indicated by T2 MRI, and worsened neurobehavior MUN unmasked HI-induced improvements in open-field locomotion and in edema resolution, alterations in calcium-dependent contractility and promotion of contractile differentiation. Overall, MUN imposed multiple interdependent effects on cerebrovascular smooth muscle differentiation, contractility, edema formation, flow-metabolism coupling and neurobehavior through pathways that both required, and were independent of, gestational corticosteroids. In light of growing global patterns of food insecurity, the present study emphasizes that infants born from undernourished mothers may experience greater risk for developing neonatal cerebral edema and sensorimotor impairments possibly through programmed changes in neonatal cerebrovascular function. 相似文献

Presence information was the key enabler of the great success of instant messaging applications. This information was first limited to simple binary states such as online, offline, or busy. However, it is currently evolving towards a much more generic, flexible concept that includes all context that enables users or applications to adapt and control communications in a more efficient, personalized manner. Presence paves the way for the deployment of advanced communication services and is therefore a key component in Next-Generation Networks. The main barrier to the implantation of next-generation presence-based services is the great amount of traffic involved in the distribution of presence information across domains. In this paper, we give a deep insight into multiple strategies for reducing inter-domain presence traffic. We estimate the capacity demands of these strategies on the IMS servers. Moreover, we enhance two strategies for reducing presence load: Common Subscribe and Federated Common Subscribe. Cast specimens of Mg and of several Mg-Zn binary alloys with a wide range of grain sizes were deformed in tension and compression.
The k values calculated from the Hall–Petch (H-P) plots of the tensile 0.2 pct proof stress increased with the Zn content, from
0.24 MPa m1/2 for pure Mg to ~0.66 MPa m1/2 for the 2.3 at. pct Zn alloy; k values measured from compression tests were larger, typically by 0.05 MPa m1/2. When the strength measurements were corrected for the pseudoelastic strain resulting from elastic twinning, the k values generally increased, and the difference between tension and compression was eliminated. This showed that the larger
k values obtained in compression using uncorrected data were an artifact of the pseudoelastic effect. The apparent friction
stress varied between about 14 MPa for pure Mg to very low or negative values for the most dilute alloy, increasing again
to about 8 MPa for the most concentrated alloy. The use of strength data corrected for pseudoelasticity effects is necessary

Superparamagnetic nanoparticles have seen increased potential in medical and environmental applications. Their preparation is traditionally made by the coprecipitation method, with limited control over the particle size distribution. Microemulsion methods could be advantageous due to the efficient control of the size, shape, and composition of the nanoparticles obtained. Water-in-oil (W/O) microemulsions consist of aqueous microdomains dispersed in a continuous oil phase, stabilized by surfactant molecules. These work as nanoreactors where the synthesis of the desired nanoparticles takes place through a co-precipitation chemical reaction. In this work, superparamagnetic magnetite nanoparticles with average diameters between 5.4 and 7.2 nm and large monodispersity have been synthesized through precipitation in a W/O microemulsion, with Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide (CTAB) as a main surfactant, 1-butanol as a cosurfactant, and with 1-hexanol as the continuous oily phase. The optimization of the corresponding washing protocol has also been established since a strict control is required when using these materials for bioapplications. Their applicability in those has been proved by their encapsulation in liposomes, being tested as signal enhancers for lateral flow immunoassays by using the affinity neutravidin-biotin model system. Due to their magnetic behaviour, they were also tested for magnetic separation. The development of new food preservatives is essential to prevent foodborne outbreaks or food spoilage due to microbial growth, enzymatic activity or oxidation. Furthermore, new compounds that substitute the commonly used synthetic food preservatives are needed to stifle the rising problem of microbial resistance. In this scenario, we report herein, as far as we know, for the first time the use of the zein protein as a gating moiety and its application for the controlled release of essential oil components (EOCs). The design of microdevices consist of mesoporous silica particles loaded with essential oils components (thymol, carvacrol and cinnamaldehyde) and functionalized with the zein (prolamin) protein found in corn as a molecular gate. The zein protein grafted on the synthesized microdevices is degraded by the proteolytic action of bacterial enzymatic secretions with the consequent release of the loaded essential oil components efficiently inhibiting bacterial growth. The results allow us to conclude that the new microdevice presented here loaded with the essential oil component cinnamaldehyde improved the antimicrobial properties of the free compound by decreasing volatility and increasing local concentration. 相似文献
