The intracellular silver accumulation ({Ag}(in)) upon exposure to carbonate coated silver nanoparticles (AgNP, 0.5-10 μM, average diameter 29 nm) and silver nitrate (20-500 nM) was examined in the wild type and in the cell wall free mutant of the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii at pH 7.5. The {Ag}(in) was measured over time up to 1 h after a wash procedure to remove silver ions (Ag(+)) and AgNP from the algal cell surface. The {Ag}(in) increased with increasing exposure time and with increasing AgNP and AgNO(3) concentrations in the exposure media, reaching steady-state concentrations between 10(-5) and 10(-3) mol L(cell)(-1). According to estimated kinetic parameters, high Ag(+) bioconcentration factors were calculated (>10(3) L L(cell)(-1)). Higher accumulation rate constants were assessed in the cell wall free mutant, indicating a protective role of the cell wall in limiting Ag(+) uptake. The bioavailability of AgNP was calculated to be low in both strains relative to Ag(+), suggesting that AgNP internalization across the cell membrane was limited.  相似文献

The conventional sonicator/shaker bath method for phenolic extraction was compared with a less traditional one using a homogenizer. The homogenizer proved to be both more efficient and consistent in extracting phenolics from tender, as well as tough, leaves. We propose that adoption of the homogenizer technique will increase phenolic yield and efficiency.  相似文献

The accurate calculation of the stresses and torque capacities of adhesively bonded joints is not possible without understanding the failure phenomena of the adhesive joints and the nonlinear behavior of the adhesive.

In this paper, an adhesive failure model of the adhesively bonded tubular single lap joint with steel-steel adherends was proposed to predict the torque capacity accurately.

The model incorporated the nonlinear behavior of the adhesive and the different failure modes in which the adhesive failure mode changed from bulk shear failure, via transient failure, to interfacial failure between the adhesive and the adherend, according to the magnitudes of the residual thermally-induced stresses from fabrication.  相似文献

A carbon fiber composite gasketless bipolar plate for proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells was developed using the groove of a trapezoidal shape, which develops large contact stresses due to a wedge mechanism. The surface of the composite groove was modified to increase gas tightness without using rubber gaskets. Graphite, polyimide (PI) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film were co-cure bonded on the surface of the bipolar plate during the compression molding process to change its surface hardness, which could affect the gas tightness. Additionally, plasma surface treatment and mechanical abrasion were used to modify the surface morphologies. Corrosion and gas tightness tests on the surface modified bipolar plates were performed to verify the reliability of the gasketless sealing method.  相似文献

In this paper, different organic–inorganic hybrid materials based in the CaO–SiO2–poly(dimethyl siloxane) PDMS system have been characterised by means of nanoindentation and their static mechanical properties (Young’s modulus, and hardness) have been investigated. These mechanical properties have been discussed in relation to the chemical composition and structure of the different hybrid materials. Besides, the mechanical behaviour of hybrid materials is visco-elastic and it therefore presents phenomena of creep that will be influenced by the temperature of the mechanical test; undoubtedly, a temperature of 37°C accelerates the processes of creep.  相似文献

Due to the increase in the number and popularity of applications such as e-commerce or on-line booking systems, typical of the Web 2.0, dynamic contents are becoming more and more frequent. This trend suggests the review of widely accepted paradigms and models for the World Wide Web. As a system that is continuously changing, both in the offered applications and in its infrastructure, performance evaluation studies are a main concern to provide sound proposals when designing new web-related systems. Although the dynamism in the workload characterization has also been tackled in previous research, it has not been modeled in a precise way yet because of its complex nature.In this paper we propose the Dweb model which represents the dynamism of current web applications in the workload characterization. Dweb is based on three main concepts that allow to model dynamic workload: navigation, workload test and workload distribution. In addition, a dynamic workload generator has been implemented to show the practical application of the proposed model, which has been illustrated through a case study.  相似文献
