A cobalt-base alloy, Co-25 Cr-10 Ni-5 Ta-3 Al-0.5 Y (S-57), was subjected to hot corrosion in Mach 0.3 burner rig combustion gases at maximum alloy temperatures of 900 and 1000°C. Various salt concentrations were injected into the burner; 0.5, 2, 5 and 10 parts per million synthetic sea salt and 4 parts per million sodium sulphate (Na2SO4). The extent of corrosion was determined by measuring the maximum depth of corrosion in the alloy and the corrosion process was studied by metallography, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and electron microprobe analysis. While S-57 was found to possess only moderate oxidation resistance at these temperatures, this alloy resisted significant hot corrosion attack under all but the most severe test conditions. The process of the hot corrosion attack under the most severe conditions of this study was primarily sulphidation. 相似文献

We present the development of a low-power W-band low-noise amplifier (LNA) designed in a 200-nm InAs/AlSb high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) technology fabricated on a 50-/spl mu/m GaAs substrate. A single-stage coplanar waveguide with ground (CPWG) LNA is described. The LNA exhibits a noise figure of 2.5 dB and an associated gain of 5.6 dB at 90 GHz while consuming 2.0 mW of total dc power. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the lowest reported noise figure for an InAs/AlSb HEMT LNA at 90 GHz. Biased for maximum gain, the single-stage amplifier presents 6.7-dB gain and an output 1-dB gain compression point (P1dB) of -6.7dBm at 90 GHz. There is an urgent need for new drugs for the treatment of tropical parasitic diseases such as human African trypanosomiasis, which is caused by Trypanosoma brucei. The enzyme trypanothione reductase (TryR) is a potential drug target within these organisms. Herein we report the screening of a 62 000 compound library against T. brucei TryR. Further work was undertaken to optimise potency and selectivity of two novel‐compound series arising from the enzymatic and whole parasite screens and mammalian cell counterscreens. Both of these series, containing either a quinoline or pyrimidinopyrazine scaffold, yielded low micromolar inhibitors of the enzyme and growth of the parasite. The challenges of inhibiting TryR with druglike molecules is discussed. 相似文献

This article introduces a new problem called the Capacity and Distance Constrained Plant Location Problem. It is an extension of the discrete capacitated plant location problem, where the customers assigned to each plant have to be packed in groups that will be served by one vehicle each. The constraints include two types of capacity. On the one hand plants are capacitated, and the demands of the customers are indivisible. On the other hand, the total distance traveled by each vehicle to serve its assigned customers in round trips plant–customer–plant is also limited. The paper addresses different modeling aspects of the problem. It describes a tabu search algorithm for its solution. Extensive computational tests indicate that the proposed heuristic consistently yields optimal or near-optimal solutions. 相似文献

Loss of enzyme activity is a problem associated with enzymatic reactions in continuous recycled membrane reactors (CRMR). It may result from catalyst leakage and also enzyme denaturation due to the effects of pH, temperature, shear effects or adsorption/deposit on membrane. In this study, the relative importance of these various factors has been assessed in order to reduce their adverse effects on starch hydrolysis in a CRMR. The effects of temperature and denaturation by adsorption/deposit on membrane were the most limiting phenomena. Reducing the temperature to overcome thermal denaturation was not a practical solution since this increases viscosity and thereby decreases permeate flux and reactor performance. Insofar that adsorption/deposit of enzymes on the membrane is directly linked to membrane fouling, back‐flushing or regularly purging retentate should reduce this phenomenon by lowering accumulation of high molecular weight products. © 2001 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

A number of experiments were carried out with fresh and aged high surface area Ce0.68Zr0.32O2 mixed oxide samples with complex feed-streams in order to determine their performance as three way catalyst (TWC). The results confirmed the oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of these samples, which favour NO conversion in cycled versus stationary stoichiometric operation. Several experiments carried out with different feed-streams have shown that a pre-reducing treatment can significantly improve both NO reduction at low-temperature and selectivity to N2, which can be very useful to reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides immediately after starting the automobile. Although a significant reduction of the specific surface area of the mixed oxide takes place during ageing at 1173 K, it has been shown that the performance of the sample remains similar or even better than when fresh, due to an increased OSC. Thus, the reduction of CO and hydrocarbon emissions during start could be achieved by situating the catalytic converter nearer the exhaust to the engine, where the catalyst will be heated faster. 相似文献

Many space systems such as satellite mirrors and their supporting structures require to be made from very low-thermal expansion materials combining both high hydrostability and relatively high mechanical properties. In this study, we have applied the “composite concept” in order to explore the possibility of fabricating near zero thermal expansion silicon nitride based ceramics. Consequently, a negative thermal expansion material belonged to the lithium aluminosilicate family (LAS powder crystallized under de β-eucryptite structure) was introduced in an alpha-silicon nitride fine powder (5 and 20 vol% of LAS) and the resulting composite system was sintered by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) at 1400 and 1500 °C. In the case of 20 vol% LAS compositions, relatively well-densified ceramics (94.4% of the theoretical density) were produced without adding any further sintering additive. The addition of yttria and alumina oxides allowed enhancing the densification level up to 98.2% (20 vol% LAS compositions) or from 62.3% up to 96.7% of the theoretical density in 5 vol% LAS materials. Nevertheless, it was impossible to full consolidate silicon nitride/LAS composite ceramics at temperatures lower than the temperature at which β-eucryptite melts, even by using SPS technology. Moreover, because of the relatively low temperatures involved in SPS, the α to β-Si3N4 transformation was avoided, resulting in microstructures composed of fine equiaxed α-Si3N4 grains (<200 nm) and of a glassy phase. Even if the effect of having a very large negative thermal expansion material was lost during the sintering step (because of the β-eucryptite melting), ceramics containing only 20 vol% of LAS-based phase exhibited very interesting values as regards of mechanical properties (strength, hardness, toughness, and Young's modulus), thermal conductivity and thermal expansion coefficient. We discuss in this work why we are so interested in developing dense silicon nitride/LAS ceramics sintered without any further additive addition, even though β-eucryptite is melted during the process and the transformation to the β phase is avoided. 相似文献

The primary parameters of electrophotographic papers are surface charge, and the decay of this charge under both dark and illuminated ambient conditions. The inter-relationship of these parometers is of great practical signiftcance in machine design. It is suggested that the results from conventional static methods for their measurement can be misleading. Special equipment has been constructed for the examination of electrophotographic materials under dynamic conditions. The kinetics of passage of a model bile salt and complete porcine bile across a dialysis membrane, in the presence and absence of two cereal-derived soluble dietary fibre polysaccharides, were studied as a model for passage across the unstirred water layer that lines the small intestine. A first-order kinetic analysis allowed rate coefficients to be derived which quantified the effectiveness of barley mixed linkage β-glucan and wheat arabinoxylan in retarding the transport of bile. For both, a model bile salt and complete porcine bile, rate coefficients decreased with both concentration and viscosity. A combination of viscosity and molecular interaction effects is suggested to control the effect of the two polysaccharides on the transport of bile. 相似文献
