Abnormal radionuclide cerebral angiograms and scans due to seizures

The effect of recent seizures on the brain scan was determined in a retrospective study of patients who had had seizures. All patients who underwent brain scanning within eight days of seizures and who did not have a specific intracranial lesion were included. The 99mTc-pertechnetate cerebral angiogram and/or delayed scan was abnormal in 73% of 22 patients. The data suggest that if seizures occur within six days of the brain imaging, the image is likely to be abnormal.

These observations show that short-term, disease-free survival is (a) excellent (86.5%) in patients with negative lymph node biopsies, (b) greatly diminished (30%) in patients with positive para-aortic and pelvic lymph node biopsies, and (c) intermediate (71.5%) in patients with positive pelvic lymph node biopsies only in the pelvic region following extended-field radiation therapy of carcinoma of the prostate.     

Physiopathology of spontaneous extravasation of urine in the upper urinary tract. Apropos of 24 cases

Extravasation of urine was seen in 24 intravenous pyelograms taken for renal colic during the year 1973-74. A number of the patients presented with an acute abdomen. Extravasation took place of retained urine under pressure in the renal pelvis with leakage either around the clayces, from a fissure in the pelvis or even around the ureter. Extravasations of this type are in general rabsorbed without trace. In 5 cases, operation was necessary to drain a purulent collection which had developed in association with the extravasated urine.
