Polyoxometalates (POMs), molecular metal oxide anions, are inorganic clusters with promising antiviral activity. Herein we report increased anti-HIV-1 activity of a POM when electrostatically combined with organic counter-cations. To this end, Keggin-type cerium tungstate POMs have been combined with organic methyl-caffeinium (Caf) cations, and their cytotoxicity, antiviral activity and mode of action have been studied. The novel compound, Caf4K[β2-CeSiW11O39]×H2O, exhibits sub-nanomolar antiviral activity and inhibits HIV-1 infectivity by acting on an early step of the viral infection cycle. This work demonstrates that combination of POM anions and organic bioactive cations can be a powerful new strategy to increase antiviral activity of these inorganic compounds.  相似文献

Identification, assessment and remediation of a large-scale groundwater contamination requires a profound knowledge of the geological structure to predict the fate of contaminants in the subsurface. Within the SAFIRA-project, a model sector of the Bitterfeld/Wolfen area was chosen to transfer the structural geological data of the Tertiary and Quarternary aquifer units into a digital geological model. Using 125 selected drillholes as a base of 28 networked cross-sections, small-scale lithological and structural heterogeneities, in particular of the Quarternary layers, could be assigned to 31 litho-stratigraphic sedimentation units and depicted using a 10 × 10 m GIS grid. An assignment of hydraulic parameters to individual sedimentary bodies allows a combination with flow and transport models. The structural model was generated by combining gridding sections and additional point and lateral information of sediment distribution and allows -beyond visualisation purposes- volumetric calculations of distinct sedimentary units, which are relevant for an assessment of retardation processes in the remaining lignite seam. The present structural model is the base for a “Spatial Model Bitterfeld” and anables further investigations on the environmental impact of different scenarios.  相似文献

The eXtensible Business Reporting Language, or XBRL, is a royalty-free language based on XML that provides for a standardization of method and content in the exchange of business information. XBRL aims to reduce inefficiencies in data exchange and analysis, coupled with an improved comparability of information. The first taxonomies based on XBRL have:
  1. identified opportunities for significant improvement in the efficiency of data exchange and automated analysis.
  2. shown that comparisons between and the compatibility of information within business reports have not improved due to XBRL.

The German zoologist and geneticist Ludwig Plate was a pupil and successor of the “German Darwin” Ernst Haeckel as the director of the Institute of Zoology at Jena University. Plate campaigned for a revival of the original Darwinism. His research program, which he labelled “old-Darwinism”, proclaimed the synthesis of selectionism with “moderate Lamarckism” and orthogenesis.This article reconstructs and analyses Plate’s “old-Darwinian” synthesis and sheds light on Plate’s controversial biography, especially his conflict with Haeckel.
