Apple slices dried at 60C were rehydrated at 20, 40 and 60C to analyze the influence of processing temperature on quality attributes and rehydration kinetics. Diffusion coefficient increased with process temperature from 1.36 to 2.37 × 10?9 m2/s. The Weibull model obtained the best fit quality for the experimental data based on statistical test, chi square. Color was not recovered during rehydration and the results indicated that the use of low temperatures is more adequate. Water‐holding capacity decreased, while rehydration ratio increased with increasing rehydration temperature, indicating structural modifications. Increasing rehydration temperatures led to a reduction in the glass transition temperature and hardness values of samples. The radical‐scavenging activity showed higher antioxidant activity at higher rehydration temperatures rather than at lower temperatures. It was found that rehydration temperature modifies the cell structure and antioxidant capacity of final product. 相似文献

Bone is an inorganic template containing organic material inside which can be converted into hydroxyapatite‐rich material by pyrolysis. Nowadays, there is a growing research interest in the use of hydroxyapatite, the chemical formula of which is Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2. In the present work, pork bone, an abundant biomass source and food waste, has been converted into structured porous hydroxyapatite by a three‐step process including precharring under mild conditions, chemical activation, and thermal activation. The investigated activating agents were NaOH, KOH, K2CO3, H2SO4, and H3PO4. A thorough investigation of the influence of different activating protocols on the chemical and textural properties of the produced material was carried out by nitrogen adsorption–desorption at 77 K, potentiometric titrations, Fourier transform infrared, and X‐ray diffraction techniques. Chemical activation with NaOH, K2CO3, and H2SO4 increased the specific surface area up to 53%. H3PO4 reduced both surface area and pore volume, and KOH showed little influence on the pore structure. The produced materials were evaluated by methylene blue adsorption tests and showed significant improvement as a result of chemical activation. As a main effect, acid treatment increased methylene blue adsorption kinetics, probably owing to an increase in micropororosity, whereas alkali activation enhanced the adsorption capacity of the resultant biochar. 相似文献

The Hedgehog (Hh) pathway is essential for the embryonic development and homeostatic maintenance of many adult tissues and organs. It has also been associated with some functions of the innate and adaptive immune system. However, its involvement in the immune response has not been well determined. Here we study the role of Hh signalling in the modulation of the immune response by using the Ptch-1-LacZ+/− mouse model (hereinafter referred to as ptch+/−), in which the hemizygous inactivation of Patched-1, the Hh receptor gene, causes the constitutive activation of Hh response genes. The in vitro TCR stimulation of spleen and lymph node (LN) T cells showed increased levels of Th2 cytokines (IL-4 and IL-10) in ptch+/−cells compared to control cells from wild-type (wt) littermates, suggesting that the Th2 phenotype is favoured by Hh pathway activation. In addition, CD4+ cells secreted less IL-17, and the establishment of the Th1 phenotype was impaired in ptch+/− mice. Consistently, in response to an inflammatory challenge by the induction of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), ptch+/− mice showed milder clinical scores and more minor spinal cord damage than wt mice. These results demonstrate a role for the Hh/ptch pathway in immune response modulation and highlight the usefulness of the ptch+/− mouse model for the study of T-cell-mediated diseases and for the search for new therapeutic strategies in inflammatory diseases. 相似文献

Experimental tests in an entrained flow gasifier have been carried out in order to evaluate the effect of the biomass particle size and the space residence time on the gasifier performance and the producer gas quality. Three types of biomass fuels (grapevine pruning and sawdust wastes, and marc of grape) and a fossil fuel (a coal-coke blend) have been tested. The results obtained show that a reduction in the fuel particle size leads to a significant improvement in the gasification parameters. The thermochemical characterisation of the resulting char-ash residue shows a sharp increase in the fuel conversion for particles below 1 mm diameter, which could be adequate to be used in conventional entrained flow gasifiers. Significant differences in the thermochemical behaviour of the biomass fuels and the coal-coke blend have been found, especially in the evolution of the H2/CO ratio with the space time, mainly due to the catalytic effect of the coal-coke ash. The reaction temperature and the space time have a significant effect on the H2/CO ratio (the relative importance of each of these parameters depending on the temperature), this value being independent of the fuel particle size. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: The decline in CD4+ lymphocytes occurs at different rates in patients with HIV infection. A longer duration of HIV infection and a higher level of viral replication, represented by the viral load, are associated with a lower CD4+ lymphocyte count. However, the interelationship between these variables is still not well known. PATIENTS AND METHODS: 107 HIV-infected patients for whom the date of infection was known, were included in a transversal study, in which the CD4+ lymphocyte count and the plasma viral load were analysed, the last using an isothermal amplification method (NASBA). Patients were not receiving antiretroviral drugs or suffered intercurrent infections at the time of the study. RESULTS: The mean duration of HIV infection was 8.6 +/- 2.9 years. The mean CD4+ lymphocyte count was 366 +/- 264 x 10(6)/l. The mean plasma viraemia was 4.3 +/- 0.9 logs. In a linear regression model, the CD4+ lymphocyte count was explained in 21.7% of cases by the duration of HIV infection, meanwhile the viral load justified up to 36.2 of CD4+ cell variability. When both parameters were combined, up to 58.4% of CD4+ lymphocyte values were explained. In this model, changes of 1 log in viral load had a 4-fold higher effect on the CD4+ cell count than each year of HIV infection. CONCLUSIONS: The duration of HIV infection and, particularly the viral load strongly influences the current CD4+ lymphocyte count, although other variables should exist (virus with syncytium-inducing phenotype, age of the patient and his immunegenetic repertoire) influencing the different decline seen in CD4+ T-cells. 相似文献

Modern industrial sulfonation of linear alkylbenzene (LAB) in falling film reactors produces p-alkylbenzene sulfonic acid (HLAS), which is usually neutralized with caustic soda (NaOH) and used in detergent formulations.
During the sulfonation process, other products such as anhydrides and sulfones are also formed. Four reactions are proposed
to occur during aging and hydrolysis. As a consequences, approximately 25% of sulfones and 75% of unreacted LAB are removed
during aging and are transformed into additional active matter. Anhydrides are completely eliminated during hydrolysis. On
the other hand, sulfones formed during the process are difficult to remove once formed. The goal of this work was to optimize
the various operating conditions of the sulfonation process and to understand the various secondary reactions that occur therein
so as to obtain a maximal active ingredient concentration in the final sulfonated product and a minimum of unsulfonated matter.
Formation of sulfones can be minimized by using an SO3/LAB molar ratio slightly lower than the theoretical optimum. 相似文献

A basic mathematical model, mainly focused on economic assessment is directly applied to a counter-current, stage-wise, solvent-selective extraction system. A standard extraction model, based on the modeling of a mixer-settler process, is used as point of departure. This system is used to extract a dissolved compound in a process stream. Thereafter sensible operating and economic parameters are integrated into it. An adequate handling of these parameters allows a practical preliminary optimization process modeling. The economic assessment model can be applied from one to "ri" stages in any industrial stage-wise process unit.
