The effects of incorrect compensation for collimator blur in single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images are studied in terms of the noise and resolution properties of the reconstructed images. Qualitative analysis of images of the Hoffman brain phantom reconstructed using nonlinear maximum-likelihood-expectation maximization (ML-EM) show the behavior of longer noise correlations for high-pass filtered images. These qualitative observations are confirmed with more quantitative noise measures. The differences also appear in images reconstructed using linear Landweber iteration. However, the signal-to-noise ratio, in terms of the noise-equivalent quanta, remains largely unchanged. We conclude that the compensation model affects SPECT image properties, though the effect on human task performance remains to be studied.  相似文献

The coupling adsorption and degradation of trichloroethylene (TCE) through dechlorination using synthetic granular activated carbon and zerovalent iron (GAC-ZVI) composites was studied. The GAC-ZVI composites were prepared from aqueous Fe2+ solutions by impregnation with and without the use of a PEG dispersant and then heated at 105 °C or 700 °C under a stream of N2. Pseudo-first-order rate constant data on the removal of TCE demonstrates that the adsorption kinetics of GAC is similar to those of GAC-ZVI composites. However, the usage of GAC-ZVI composites liberated a greater amount of Cl than when ZVI was used alone. The highest degree of reductive dechlorination of TCE was achieved using a GAC-ZVI700P composite (synthesized using PEG under 700 °C). A modified Langmuir-Hinshelwood rate law was employed to depict the behavior of Cl liberation. As a result, a zero-order Cl liberation reaction was observed and the desorption limited TCE degradation rate constant decreased as the composite dosage was increased. The GAC-ZVI composites can be employed as a reactive GAC that is not subject to the limitations of using GAC and ZVI separately.  相似文献

This paper reports the design, fabrication, and characterization of a 1-3 composite annular-array transducer. An interdigital bonded (IB) 1-3 composite was prepared using two IB operations on a fine-grain piezoelectric ceramic. The final composite had 19-μm-wide posts separated by 6-μm-wide polymer kerfs. A novel method to remove metal electrodes from polymer portions of the 1-3 composite was established to eliminate the need for patterning and aligning the electrode on the composite to the electrodes on a flexible circuit. Unloaded epoxy was used for both the matching and backing layers and a flexible circuit was used for interconnect. A prototype array was successfully fabricated and tested. The results were in reasonable agreement with those predicted by a circuit-analogous model. The average center frequency estimated from the measured pulse-echo responses of array elements was 33.5 MHz and the -6-dB fractional bandwidth was 57%. The average insertion loss recorded was 14.3 dB, and the maximum crosstalk between the nearest-neighbor elements was less than -37 dB. Images of a wire phantom and excised porcine eye were obtained to show the capabilities of the array for high-frequency ultrasound imaging.  相似文献

Scope: Prostate‐specific antigen (PSA) is a well‐known marker for diagnosing and monitoring prostate cancer. Curcumin, a yellow curry pigment, has been reported to enhance androgen receptor (AR) degradation. We examined the effects of curcumin on increasing PSA expression by hypoxia and prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors, L ‐mimosine and dimethyloxalylglycine (DMOG), in human prostate carcinoma LNCaP cells. Methods and results: The 3H‐thymidine incorporation assay revealed that either L ‐mimosine or DMOG treatments attenuated cell proliferation. Immunoblot and enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) indicated that both L ‐mimosine and DMOG have an effect similar to hypoxia, which stabilized hypoxia‐inducible factor‐1α (HIF‐1α) and induced PSA gene expression. The results of the immunoblot and transient gene expression assays indicated that induction of the PSA expression by hypoxia is both HIF‐1α‐ and AR‐dependent. Immunoblot assays revealed that a curcumin treatment (10 μM) decreased the protein abundance of AR but did not significantly affect the protein levels of HIF‐1α and vascular endothelial growth factor, which were induced by hypoxia. ELISA and transient gene expression assays indicated that curcumin blocked the activation of L ‐mimosine or DMOG treatment on PSA expression. Conclusions: These results indicate that curcumin blocked the enhanced effect of PSA expression by L ‐mimosine and DMOG that induce hypoxia condition.  相似文献
