Crowded urban environments are composed of different types of dynamic and static elements. Learning and classification of features is a major task in solving the localization problem in such environments. This work presents a gradual learning methodology to learn the useful features using multiple experiences. The usefulness of an observed element is evaluated by a scoring mechanism which uses two scores – reliability and distinctiveness. The visual features thus learned are used to partition the visual map into smaller regions. The robot is efficiently localized in such a partitioned environment using two-level localization. The concept of active map (AM) is proposed here, which is a map that represents one partition of the environment in which there is a high probability of the robot existing. High-level localization is used to track the mode of the AMs using discrete Bayes filter. Low-level localization uses a bag-of-words model to retrieve images and accurately localize the robot. The pose of the robot is the one retrieved from the AM that has maximum a posteriori. Experiments have been conducted on a unique highly crowded data-set collected from Indian roads. The results support the proposed method due to speed and localization accuracy.  相似文献

Emotion recognition from speech signals is an interesting research with several applications like smart healthcare, autonomous voice response systems, assessing situational seriousness by caller affective state analysis in emergency centers, and other smart affective services. In this paper, we present a study of speech emotion recognition based on the features extracted from spectrograms using a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) with rectangular kernels. Typically, CNNs have square shaped kernels and pooling operators at various layers, which are suited for 2D image data. However, in case of spectrograms, the information is encoded in a slightly different manner. Time is represented along the x-axis and y-axis shows frequency of the speech signal, whereas, the amplitude is indicated by the intensity value in the spectrogram at a particular position. To analyze speech through spectrograms, we propose rectangular kernels of varying shapes and sizes, along with max pooling in rectangular neighborhoods, to extract discriminative features. The proposed scheme effectively learns discriminative features from speech spectrograms and performs better than many state-of-the-art techniques when evaluated its performance on Emo-DB and Korean speech dataset.

The effect of Ag on the stationary and non-stationary anodic corrosion rates of PbSbCd and PbSb alloys in H2SO4 has been studied. Anodic polarization curves were constructed under galvanostatic and potentiostatic conditions. Optical microscopic examination and microprobe analysis of the alloys were conducted. The beneficial effect of Ag was ascribed to a delay in closure of pores in the initial PbSO4 film. The leaching out of Sb from the outermost layers and the simultaneous nucleation of PbSO4 and Ag2SO4 from supersaturated solutions in the pores is thus made possible.  相似文献

Taxonomy of the genus Berberis is quite complex, due to overlapping morphological characters, making it very difficult to differentiate the species within the genus. In order to resolve this taxonomic complexity, the foliar anatomy of 10 Berberis L. species was carried out, for the first time from Pakistan, using light microscopy (LM). Significant variation in terms of epidermal cells shape, size, cell wall pattern, and stomata type was observed. B. baluchistanica has the largest epidermal cells, Adaxial: length = 45–(53.9 ± 3.6)–62.5 μm; and width = 22.5–(26.3 ± 1.3)–30 μm; Abaxial: length = 37.5–(43.25 ± 2.5)–50 μm; and width = 20–(22.6 ± 0.8)–25. The highest number of stomata was observed in B. glaucocarpa as 62 on the abaxial surface while the lowest number of stomata was recorded in B. baluchistanica as 8 on the adaxial surface. Of 10 investigated species, 6 possess anomocytic type stomata, while 2 species that is, B. aitchisonii and B. parkeriana have both anomocytic and anisocytic stomata while B. baluchistanica and B. calliobotrys have only paracytic type stomata. The highest number of cells per unit area was present on the adaxial surface of B. calliobotrys ranging from 245–(252.4)–260 followed by B. parkeriana with 209–(227.8)–250 on the abaxial surface. Stomatal index (SI) also varied considerably and was the lowest (2.6) percentage in B. baluchistanica and highest (31.9) percentage in B. kunawurensis. A taxonomic key based on micro‐morphological characters is provided for species identification.  相似文献

Rhenium disulfide (ReS2) is a two‐dimensional (2D) group VII transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD). It is attributed with structural and vibrational anisotropy, layer‐independent electrical and optical properties, and metal‐free magnetism properties. These properties are unusual compared with more widely used group VI‐TMDs, e.g., MoS2, MoSe2, WS2 and WSe2. Consequently, it has attracted significant interest in recent years and is now being used for a variety of applications including solid state electronics, catalysis, and, energy harvesting and energy storage. It is anticipated that ReS2 has the potential to be equally used in parallel with isotropic TMDs from group VI for all known applications and beyond. Therefore, a review on ReS2 is very timely. In this first review on ReS2, we critically analyze the available synthesis procedures and their pros/cons, atomic structure and lattice symmetry, crystal structure, and growth mechanisms with an insight into the orientation and architecture of domain and grain boundaries, decoupling of structural and vibrational properties, anisotropic electrical, optical, and magnetic properties impacted by crystal imperfections, doping and adatoms adsorptions, and contemporary applications in different areas.  相似文献

Global rise of infections and deaths caused by drug-resistant bacterial pathogens are among the unmet medical needs. In an age of drying pipeline of novel antibiotics to treat bacterial infections, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are proven to be valid therapeutics modalities. Direct in vivo applications of many AMPs could be challenging; however, works are demonstrating encouraging results for some of them. In this review article, we discussed 3-D structures of potent AMPs e.g., polymyxin, thanatin, MSI, protegrin, OMPTA in complex with bacterial targets and their mode of actions. Studies on human peptide LL37 and de novo-designed peptides are also discussed. We have focused on AMPs which are effective against drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. Since treatment options for the infections caused by super bugs of Gram-negative bacteria are now extremely limited. We also summarize some of the pertinent challenges in the field of clinical trials of AMPs.  相似文献

Awareness of the user's current context, that is, the task the user resides in, can allow for various ways of supporting their work. In this article we present a novel approach for mining user's regular tasks on the basis of temporal proximity of users’ desktop actions without user intervention in a completely automatic, unobtrusive, and unsupervised manner. The proposed method is based on time-based clustering of a user's desktop actions and, in contrast to previous approaches, it does not enforce fixed time constraints on the mined actions, and typical transition times, when they exist, emerge from the logged activity data for that specific user. The performance of our technique was evaluated on a large data set of 724 days of desktop work by five knowledge workers. The results showed that our approach performed very well and was able to cluster those temporally proximate user actions that commonly used fix time window techniques fail to deal with. Notably, the main improvement is in the recall of the tasks, where our approach recalled 10.18% more actions than the predefined time window technique.  相似文献

A neural circuit to solve a system of simultaneous linear equations is presented. The circuit employs non-linear feedback to achieve a transcendental energy function that ensures fast convergence to the exact solution while enjoying reduction in hardware complexity over existing schemes. A new building block for analog signal processing, the digitally controlled differential voltage current conveyor (DC-DVCC) is introduced and is utilized for the non-linear synaptic interconnections between neurons. The proof of the energy function has been given and it is shown that the gradient network converges exactly to the solution of the system of equations. PSPICE simulation results are presented for linear systems of equations of various sizes and are found to be in close agreement with the algebraic solution. The use of CMOS DC-DVCCs and operational amplifiers facilitates monolithic integration.  相似文献

It is evident that the carbon-fiber-reinforced cementitious composites are being used in the structural and construction works owing to the synergetic action from two components viz. fiber and mortar matrix. Incorporation of a very nominal percentage of carbon fibers into a mortar mixture produces a strong and durable composite that leads the product of smart material properties. Flexural behavior of cement-based matrices carrying carbon fibers reinforcement of different percentage and size is studied in this paper. Influence of fiber content and length of the fiber is quantified using load–deflection curves. Specimens containing fiber of 0.0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% with 3 mm (0.12 in.), 6 mm (0.36 in.), and their combination are prepared and tested. It is demonstrated that combination of 3 mm (0.12 in.) and 6 mm (0.36 in.) fibers enhances the bearing capacity to crack- and ultimate-stresses as well as the Young’s modulus of the fiber reinforced cement composites. The paper emphasizes the desired performances after the initiation of cracks and discusses the pre- and post-cracking load–deflection characteristics of the composites.  相似文献

A new moment-modified polynomial dimensional decomposition (PDD) method is presented for stochastic multiscale fracture analysis of three-dimensional, particle-matrix, functionally graded materials (FGMs) subject to arbitrary boundary conditions. The method involves Fourier-polynomial expansions of component functions by orthonormal polynomial bases, an additive control variate in conjunction with Monte Carlo simulation for calculating the expansion coefficients, and a moment-modified random output to account for the effects of particle locations and geometry. A numerical verification conducted on a two-dimensional FGM reveals that the new method, notably the univariate PDD method, produces the same crude Monte Carlo results with a five-fold reduction in the computational effort. The numerical results from a three-dimensional, edge-cracked, FGM specimen under a mixed-mode deformation demonstrate that the statistical moments or probability distributions of crack-driving forces and the conditional probability of fracture initiation can be efficiently generated by the univariate PDD method. There exist significant variations in the probabilistic characteristics of the stress-intensity factors and fracture-initiation probability along the crack front. Furthermore, the results are insensitive to the subdomain size from concurrent multiscale analysis, which, if selected judiciously, leads to computationally efficient estimates of the probabilistic solutions.  相似文献
