Abstract

Simple general formulae for the coupling coefficients of the fundamental modes on well-separated parallel optical waveguides are derived. The calculation merely requires accurate knowledge of the propagation constants and core fields of the modes on the individual waveguides, while the far-from-core fields need not be known. Results for coupled circular fibres are identical with the asymptotic expansions of previously derived exact coupling coefficients. Analytical expressions for the coupling coefficients between the fundamental modes on identical weakly guiding channel waveguides are obtained.  相似文献

In this paper multi-stage flow lines with intermediate buffers are approximated by two-stage lines by using repeated aggregation. The aggregation method uses restricted information of the output pattern of two-stage lines. The method is tested for the case where all production units are unreliable with exponential life-and repair-times. Abstract

A perturbation theory for evaluation algorithms of arithmetic expressions is applied to the generalized least-squares identification of the continuous parameters by using nonperiodic discrete data. The sampling instants are distributed in such a way that a sequence of the elemental arithmetic expressions of the identification algorithm are suboptimized according to bang-bang rules on the extrema of appropriate variation intervals. The weighting scalars in the generalized least-squares method are updated with the same purpose.  相似文献

Extension and partial parameter optimization are applied to a modified Smith predictor and controller, designed by de Paor( 1985) for a class of unstable processes having transfer functions of the form k1A exp(—sT)/B, where A is a monic, Hurwitz polynomial of degree (n — l) and the nth degree monic polynomial B has a single right half-plane root at s=λ It is found that for l = 1,2,3 asymptotic stability can be achieved for λ T> 1, which more than doubles the best result obtained earlier. For a specific process, responses are compared with those obtained using the optimum stability PI controller of de Paor and O'Malley (1989). The advantages of the optimized, modified predictor in terms of tightness of control and faster settling time are highlighted  相似文献

It has been recognized that physical and chemical properties of biomaterial surfaces mediate the quality of extracellular matrix (ECM) that may affect cell behaviors. In nature, ECM is a heterogeneous three-dimensional superstructure formed by three major components, glycosaminoglycan, glycoconjugate, and protein, that anchors cellular compartments in tissues and regulates the function and the behavior of cells. Changes in the biointerface alter the quality of ECM and morphology through cell surface receptors, which, in turn, enable it to trigger specific cell signaling and different cellular responses. In fact, a number of strategies have been used to improve the functionality of surfaces and direct cell behavior through precisely designed environments. Herein, we aimed to discuss, through a science-based viewpoint, the biomaterial surface features on cell behavior and analyze the impact of cell physical modification on dental implant development.  相似文献

We investigated the potential of the aluminum nitride films to excite ultrasonic waves at frequencies >50?MHz. The deposition process of the aluminum nitride thin film layers on silicon substrates was investigated and optimized regarding their piezoelectric behavior. Large single element transducers were deposited on silicon substrates with aluminum electrodes, under different parameters for the magnetron sputter process, like pressure and bias voltage. Special test setup and a measuring station were created to characterize the sensors. Acoustical measurements were carried out in pulse echo mode up to 500?MHz and the values of piezoelectric charge constant (d33) were determined. As a result, two parameter sets were found for the sputtering process to obtain an excellent piezoelectric charge constant of about 7.2?pC/N maximum. Then the sputtering process with these parameters was used to deposit sensors on various substrate materials and with different electrode sizes.  相似文献
