Two research efforts have been conducted to realize sliding-window queries in data stream management systems, namely, query revaluation and incremental evaluation. In the query reevaluation method, two consecutive windows are processed independently of each other. On the other hand, in the incremental evaluation method, the query answer for a window is obtained incrementally from the answer of the preceding window. In this paper, we focus on the incremental evaluation method. Two approaches have been adopted for the incremental evaluation of sliding-window queries, namely, the input-triggered approach and the negative tuples approach. In the input-triggered approach, only the newly inserted tuples flow in the query pipeline and tuple expiration is based on the timestamps of the newly inserted tuples. On the other hand, in the negative tuples approach, tuple expiration is separated from tuple insertion where a tuple flows in the pipeline for every inserted or expired tuple. The negative tuples approach avoids the unpredictable output delays that result from the input-triggered approach. However, negative tuples double the number of tuples through the query pipeline, thus reducing the pipeline bandwidth. Based on a detailed study of the incremental evaluation pipeline, we classify the incremental query operators into two classes according to whether an operator can avoid the processing of negative tuples or not. Based on this classification, we present several optimization techniques over the negative tuples approach that aim to reduce the overhead of processing negative tuples while avoiding the output delay of the query answer. This paper investigates the performance of the primary user in a multiuser cognitive radio environment. Using spectrum sharing method, multiple cognitive users compete to share a channel dedicated to the primary user in order to transmit their data to a common receiver unit. Only one cognitive user is scheduled to share the channel, and to do so, its transmit power should not increase the primary user’s outage probability above a certain limit. The average bit error rate and the average channel capacity of the primary user are derived in this setup for different cognitive scheduling schemes. pHluorin is a pH‐sensitive variant of green fluorescent protein for measuring intracellular pH (pHin) in living cells. We constructed a new pHluorin plasmid with the dominant selection marker KanMX. This plasmid allows pH measurements in cells without auxotrophic mutations and/or grown in chemically indefinite media. We observed differing values of pHin for three prototrophic wild‐types. The new construct was also used to determine the pHin in strains differing in the activity of the plasma membrane Pma1 H+‐ATPase and the influence of glucose on pHin. We describe in detail pHluorin measurements performed in a microplate reader, which require much less hands‐on time and much lower cell culture volumes compared to standard cuvettes measurements. We also utilized pHluorin in a new method of measuring the buffering capacity of yeast cell cytosol in vivo, shown to be ca. 52 mM /pH for wild‐type yeast and moderately decreased in mutants with affected potassium transport. A study of 85 major falsework collapses of bridges and buildings in the past 23 yrs has documented the types of collapsed falseworks and failed permanent structures, the construction stages at the time of collapse, and the causes of failures. Three causes of failure were identified: triggering; enabling; and procedural causes. Most failures occurred because of the interaction of the triggering and enabling events that were, in many cases, produced by inadequacies in the procedural methods. Impact forces resulting from concreting operations have repeatedly triggered falsework failures that were enabled by deficiencies in the falsework bracings, components, connections, foundations, and design. Inadequate review of falsework design and monitoring procedures were frequent problems that facilitated the occurrernce of these events. The findings emphasize the importance of proper delineation of responsibility of each party in the building process in order to reduce falsework failures in the future. 相似文献

The construction industry is a major player in the economy, generating both, employment and wealth. However many projects experience extensive delays and thereby exceed initial time and cost estimates. A host of causes of construction delays in residential projects were identified and classified according to Drewin’s Open Conversion System. The most common causes were evaluated by using both, the data collected in a survey conducted to residential projects consultant engineers, contractors, and owners, and interviews with senior professionals in the field. Most correspondents agreed that, financial difficulties faced by the contractor and too many change orders by the owner are the leading causes of construction delay. In the last few decades there has been an intense development in non-equilibrium (“cold”) plasma surface processing systems at atmospheric pressure. This new trend is stimulated mainly to decrease equipment costs by avoiding expensive pumping systems of conventional low-pressure plasma devices. This work summarizes physical and practical limitations where atmospheric plasmas cannot compete with low-pressure plasma and vice-versa. As the processing conditions for atmospheric plasma are rather different from reduced pressure systems in many cases these conditions may increase final equipment costs substantially. In this work we briefly review the main principles, advantages and drawbacks of atmospheric plasma for a better understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the atmospheric plasma processing technology compared with conventional low-pressure plasma processing. 相似文献

Te alloys were prepared by inter-diffusion at high temperatures using mixtures of HgTe and ZnTe compounds in the form of compressed powders. The lattice constant was determined using X-ray diffraction measurements and was found to exhibit a linear dependence onx over the entire composition range. Diffused reflectance measurements as a function of wavelength yielded values of the energy bandgap that agree closely with those reported previously on single crystals. The room temperature electrical conductivity and thermoelectric power were measured as a function ofx. Intrinsic conduction was found to dominate for 0<x<0.3. In this composition range the thermoelectric power was negative due to the high ratio of electron to hole mobilities. 相似文献

Under environmental conditions, wild birds can be exposed to multiple stressors including natural toxins, anthropogenic pollutants and infectious agents at the same time.This experimental study was successful in testing the hypothesis that adverse effects of cyanotoxins, heavy metals and a non-pathogenic immunological challenge combine to enhance avian toxicity. Mortality occurred in combined exposures to naturally occurring cyanobacterial biomass and lead shots, lead shots and Newcastle vaccination as well as in single lead shot exposure. Mostly acute effects around day 10 were observed. On day 30 of exposure, there were no differences in the liver accumulation of lead in single and combined exposure groups. Interestingly, liver microcystin levels were elevated in birds co-exposed to cyanobacterial biomass together with lead or lead and the Newcastle virus. Significant differences in body weights between all Pb-exposed and Pb-non-exposed birds were found on days 10 and 20. Single exposure to cyanobacterial biomass resulted in hepatic vacuolar dystrophy, whereas co-exposure with lead led to more severe granular dystrophy. Haematological changes were associated with lead exposure, in particular. Biochemical analysis revealed a decrease in glucose and an increase in lactate dehydrogenase in single and combined cyanobacterial and lead exposures, which also showed a decreased antibody response to vaccination.The combined exposure of experimental birds to sub-lethal doses of individual stressors is ecologically realistic. It brings together new pieces of knowledge on avian health. In light of this study, investigators of wild bird die-offs should be circumspect when evaluating findings of low concentrations of contaminants that would not result in mortality on a separate basis. The acid-catalyzed decomposition of unusually stable 1-(2,1-benzisothiazol-3-yl)-3-phenyltriazenes in either aqueous perchloric acid or an aqueous mixture of perchloric and acetic acid was studied under pseudo-first order reaction conditions at 25 °C. Different products were obtained according to substitution on nitrogen N-3. For a triazene carrying hydrogen, the corresponding 3-amino-2,1-benzisothiazole and benzenediazonium salts were formed whereas in the case of substitution by an alkyl group (methyl and n-butyl) the 2,1-benzisothiazole-3-diazonium salt and N-alkylaniline were obtained. The observed rate constant (kobs) of the acid-catalyzed decomposition increased, initially, nonlinearly with increasing concentration of acid. Subsequently, kobs decreased slightly and at high acid concentration, increased steeply once again. An A-SE2 mechanism in which protonation of the triazene nitrogen proceeds simultaneously with cleavage of the N–N bond is proposed. Tautomerism of 1-(2,1-benzisothiazol-3-yl)-3-phenyltriazene was investigated using 1H NMR spectroscopy. 相似文献
