A low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) material system has been used to develop a protype field emission cathode structure for use in an experimental magnetron oscillator. The structure is designed for used with 30 gated field emission array (GFEA) die electrically connected through silver metal traces and electrical vias. To approximate a cylinder, the cathode structure (48 mm long and 13.7 mm in diameter) is comprised of 10 faceted plates which cover the GFEA dies. Slits in the facet plates allow electron injection. The GFEA die (3 mm × 8 mm) are placed in axial columns of 3 and spaced azimuthally around a cylindrical support structure in a staggered configuration resulting in 10 azimuthal locations. LTCC manufacturing techniques were developed in order to fabricate the newly designed cathode with seven layers wrapped to form the cylinder with electrical traces and vias. Two different cathode wrapping techniques and two different via filling techniques were studied and compared. Two different facet plate manufacturing techniques were studied. Finally, four different support stand configurations for firing the cylindrical structure were also compared with a square post stand having the best circularity and linearity measurements of the fired structure.  相似文献

Tensile properties of unidirectional Celion 6000 graphite/PMR 15 polyimide composites prepared by hot molding and cold molding processes were measured at room temperature and 316°C, the upper use temperature of the polyimide resin, at both 45 and 90° to the fiber axis. The resulting fractures were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and materialographic techniques. Variation in tensile properties with processing history occurred in the elastic modulus and strain to failure for specimens loaded at 90° at 316°C, and in the fracture stress, and hence the in-plane shear stress, for those loaded at 45° at room temperature. Significant plastic deformation was observed in the 45° orientation at 316°C for material produced by both processing methods. In general, fracture occurred by both failure within the matrix and at the fiber-matrix interface; the degree of interfacial failure increased with temperature. Secondary cracking below the primary fracture surface also was observed.  相似文献

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) were used to identify the mechanisms that lead to differences in the mechanical behavior of formulations of polypropylene blended with maleated polypropylene (MAPP) copolymers. MAPP lowered the melting temperature of PP indicating that less stable crystals were formed possibly because of cocrystallization of PP and MAPP. Crystallization kinetics revealed that copolymers do not change the rate of crystal growth, but may retard nucleation leading to a more spherulitic morphology. The dynamic storage modulus slightly increased in the glassy region with the small addition amounts of MAPP, while mechanical dampening systematically decreased with MAPP addition. An analysis of the viscoelastic behavior did not reveal any real differences in molecular coupling around the β‐transition of PP with the addition of the MAPP copolymer. At low addition levels, MAPP does not appear to have a significant impact on the viscoelastic properties of the polymer blend. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2009  相似文献

The steady and dynamic rheological behaviors of two cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) suspensions were investigated over a wide range of concentrations. The viscosity, storage and loss modules increased with increasing CNC concentration, and both CNC suspensions showed three regions in a viscosity‐concentration graph. The two critical concentrations depended on the aspect ratio and corresponded to the overlap and gelation concentration. Because of the higher aspect ratio, switchgrass CNC suspension transitioned into a biphasic state and formed a hydrogel at lower concentrations than those of cotton CNC suspensions. Furthermore, the complex viscosities of both CNC suspensions were higher than their steady viscosities; therefore, neither CNC suspension followed the Cox–Merz rule, which may be attributed to the existence of a liquid crystal domain in each suspension. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Objective: This study examined whether uncontrollable stressful life events were associated with sexual risk taking among adolescents across a 1-year period, and whether supportive friendships modified associations. Design: Participants were 159 sexually active African American adolescents (57% male; mean age [SD] = 17.0 [1.5] years at baseline). Participants were recruited for in-person interviews through random digit dialing in one inner-city neighborhood characterized by high rates of poverty and crime relative to the surrounding city. Main Outcome Measures: Dependent variables included substance use before sexual activity and inconsistent condom use. Results: Among adolescents who reported low levels of supportive friendships, uncontrollable stressors were associated with greater levels of sexual risk taking over time. In contrast, uncontrollable stressors were not associated with sexual risk taking among adolescents who reported high social support from friends; risk taking was typically moderate to high among these adolescents. Conclusion: Different processes may explain sexual risk taking among adolescents with varying levels of social support from friends. Adolescents with low support may be prone to engagement in health risk behavior as a stress response, while adolescents with high support may engage in risk behavior primarily due to peer socialization of risk. Web site-evaluation methodologies and validation engines take the view that all accessibility guidelines must be met to gain compliance. Problems exist in this regard, as contradictions within the rule set may arise, and the type of impairment or its severity is not isolated. The Barrier Walkthrough (BW) method goes someway to addressing these issues, by enabling barrier types derived from guidelines to be applied to different user categories such as motor or visual impairment, etc. However, the problem remains of combinatorial explosion of possibilities when one has to consider users with multiple disabilities. In this paper, a simple set theory operation is used to create a validation scheme for older users by aggregating barrier types specific to motor impaired and low-vision users, thereby creating a new “older users” category from the results of this set union. To evaluate the feasibility and validity of this aggregation approach, two BW experiments were conducted. The first experiment evaluated the aggregated results by focusing on quality attributes and showed that aggregation generates data whose quality is comparable to the original one. However, this first experiment could not test for validity, as the older users category was not included. To remedy this deficiency, another BW experiment was conducted with expert judges who evaluated a web page in the context of older users. In this second experiment, it was found that there is no significant difference between the aggregated and the manually evaluated (by experts) barrier scores, and that the same barriers are identified using experts and aggregation, even though there are differences in how severity scores are distributed. From these results, it is concluded that the aggregation of barriers is a viable alternative to expert evaluation, when the target of that aggregation could not be evaluated manually or it would not be feasible to do so. It is also argued that aggregation is a technique that can be used in combination with other evaluation methods, like user testing or subjective assessments.  相似文献

A bone cement, poly(ethylmethacrylate)/n-butylmethacrylate (PEMA/nBMA) has been developed with lower exotherm and monomer leaching compared to the traditional poly(methylmethacrylate)/methylmethacrylate (PMMA/MMA) cement. This study compares the in vitro biological response to the cements using primary human osteoblast-like cells (HOB). Cell attachment was qualified by immunolocalization of vinculin and actin cytoskeleton, showing more organization on PEMA/nBMA compared to PMMA/MMA. Proliferation was assessed using tritiated thymidine incorporation, and phenotype expression determined by measuring alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity. An increase in proliferation and ALP activity was observed on PEMA/nBMA compared to PMMA/MMA. The results confirm the biocompatability of PEMA/nBMA, and an enhanced cell attachment and expression of differentiated cell phenotype.  相似文献

Effective human and automatic processing of speech requires recovery of more than just the words. It also involves recovering phenomena such as sentence boundaries, filler words, and disfluencies, referred to as structural metadata. We describe a metadata detection system that combines information from different types of textual knowledge sources with information from a prosodic classifier. We investigate maximum entropy and conditional random field models, as well as the predominant hidden Markov model (HMM) approach, and find that discriminative models generally outperform generative models. We report system performance on both broadcast news and conversational telephone speech tasks, illustrating significant performance differences across tasks and as a function of recognizer performance. The results represent the state of the art, as assessed in the NIST RT-04F evaluation.  相似文献
