Biophysical parameters such as leaf area index (LAI) are key variables for vegetation monitoring and particularly important for modelling energy and matter fluxes in the biosphere. Therefore LAI has been derived from remote sensing data operationally based on data with a somewhat coarse spatial resolution. This study aims at deriving high-spatial resolution (6.5 m) multi-temporal LAI for grasslands based on RapidEye data by statistical regressions between vegetation indices (VIs) and field samplings. However, the suitability of those data for grassland LAI derivation has not been tested to date. Thus, the potential of RapidEye data in general and its red edge band in particular are investigated, as well as the robustness of the established relationships for different points in time.LAI was measured repeatedly over summer 2011 at about 30 different meadows in the Bavarian alpine upland using the LAI-2000 and correlated with VI values. The best relationships resulted from using the ratio vegetation index and red edge indices (NDVIrededge, rededge ratio index 1, and relative length) in non-linear models. Thus the indices based on the red edge channel improved regression modelling. The associated transfer functions achieved R2 values ranging from 0.57 to 0.85. The temporal transferability of those transfer functions to other dates was shown to be limited, with the root mean square errors (RMSEs) of several scenes exceeding one. However, when the LAI ranges are similar, a reliable transfer is possible: for example, the transfer of the regression function based on early autumn measurements showed RMSEs of only 0.77–0.95 for the other scenes except for the high-density stage in July, when the LAI reaches unprecedented maximal values. Also, the combination of multi-temporal training data shows no saturation of the selected indices and enables a satisfactory LAI mapping of different dates (RMSE = 0.59 – 1.02). 相似文献

Knowledge-based systems for document analysis and understanding (DAU) are quite useful whenever analysis has to deal with
the changing of free-form document types which require different analysis components. In this case, declarative modeling is
a good way to achieve flexibility. An important application domain for such systems is the business letter domain. Here, high
accuracy and the correct assignment to the right people and the right processes is a crucial success factor. Our solution
to this proposes a comprehensive knowledge-centered approach: we model not only comparatively static knowledge concerning
document properties and analysis results within the same declarative formalism, but we also include the analysis task and
the current context of the system environment within the same formalism. This allows an easy definition of new analysis tasks
and also an efficient and accurate analysis by using expectations about incoming documents as context information. The approach
described has been implemented within the VOPR (VOPR is an acronym for the Virtual Office PRototype.) system. This DAU system
gains the required context information from a commercial workflow management system (WfMS) by constant exchanges of expectations
and analysis tasks. Further interaction between these two systems covers the delivery of results from DAU to the WfMS and
the delivery of corrected results vice versa.

Convex rear view mirrors increasingly replace planar mirrors in automobiles. While increasing the field of view, convex mirrors are also taken to increase distance estimates and thereby reduce safety margins. However, this study failed to replicate systematic distance estimation errors in a real world setting. Whereas distance estimates were accurate on average, convex mirrors lead to significantly more variance in distance and spacing estimations. A second experiment explored the effect of mirrors on time-to-contact estimations, which had not been previously researched. Potential effects of display size were separated from effects caused by distortion in convex mirrors. Time-to-contact estimations without a mirror were most accurate. However, not distortion, but visual angle seemed to cause estimation biases. Evaluating advantages and disadvantages of convex mirrors is far more complex than expected so far. 相似文献

Sparse coding is an important approach for the unsupervised learning of sensory features. In this contribution, we present two new methods that extend the traditional sparse coding approach with supervised components. Our goal is to increase the suitability of the learned features for classification tasks while keeping most of their general representation capability. We analyze the effect of the new methods using visualization on artificial data and discuss the results on two object test sets with regard to the properties of the found feature representation. 相似文献

This paper describes the Semi-Global Matching (SGM) stereo method. It uses a pixelwise, Mutual Information based matching cost for compensating radiometric differences of input images. Pixelwise matching is supported by a smoothness constraint that is usually expressed as a global cost function. SGM performs a fast approximation by pathwise optimizations from all directions. The discussion also addresses occlusion detection, subpixel refinement and multi-baseline matching. Additionally, postprocessing steps for removing outliers, recovering from specific problems of structured environments and the interpolation of gaps are presented. Finally, strategies for processing almost arbitrarily large images and fusion of disparity images using orthographic projection are proposed.A comparison on standard stereo images shows that SGM is among the currently top-ranked algorithms and is best, if subpixel accuracy is considered. The complexity is linear to the number of pixels and disparity range, which results in a runtime of just 1-2s on typical test images. An in depth evaluation of the Mutual Information based matching cost demonstrates a tolerance against a wide range of radiometric transformations. Finally, examples of reconstructions from huge aerial frame and pushbroom images demonstrate that the presented ideas are working well on practical problems. 相似文献

In the first part of this paper a Tool–Narayanaswamy–Moynihan-model (TNM) extended by non-Arrhenius temperature dependence of the relaxation time was applied to describe results from temperature modulated DSC (TMDSC). The model is capable to describe the features of the heat capacities measured in TMDSC scan experiments in the glass transition region of polystyrene (PS). In this part the model is applied to bisphenol A-polycarbonate (PC). Both aspects of glass transition, vitrification as well as the dynamic glass transition are again well described by the model. The dynamic glass transition above Tg can be considered as a process in thermodynamic equilibrium. The non-linearity parameter (x) of the TNM model is not needed to describe complex heat capacity as long as the dynamic glass transition is well separated from vitrification. Under such conditions the relation between cooling rate (q0), and the corresponding frequency (ω) can be found from the two independently observed glass transitions. Fictive temperature and the maximum of the imaginary part of complex heat capacity are used for comparison here. The measurement as well as the TNM-model confirm the relation derived from Donth's fluctuation approach to glass transition, ω=q0/aδT, where a=5.5±0.1 (confirmed previously experimentally as 6±3) and δT is mean temperature fluctuation of the cooperatively rearranging regions (CRRs). 相似文献

The unsteady two-phase flow of water laden with small air bubbles in a model bubble column is investigated experimentally. Phase-Doppler anemometry (PDA) is used for measuring the velocities of water and bubbles. The measured sizes of reflecting tracers in the water and of the air bubbles are used to discriminate between water and bubble data. The investigations are focussed on the unsteady behaviour of the flow and on the interaction between the two phases. The measurement of relative (slip) velocities between bubbles and water reveals information about the dynamic behaviour of the two-phase system under the action of buoyancy on the disperse phase. The evaluation of time series of bubble velocities yields insight into typical frequencies at which the flow fluctuates. It is shown that, at all locations in the flow field, the velocity probability density functions of bubbles and liquid can be described by two superimposed Gaussian functions. The bubbles belonging to the two Gaussians exhibit different slip velocities. The probability for the occurrence of bubble collisions is quantified on the basis of the PDA data. 相似文献

We report on a systematic study of the magnetoelectric effect in cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4)—barium titanate (BaTiO3) ceramic composites with (0‐3) connectivity. Both the converse magnetoelectric coefficient, αC, and the direct voltage magnetoelectric coefficient, αE, were measured in dependence on composition and electric and magnetic bias fields. The strongest ME effect was observed in the composition (1?x) CoFe2O4–xBaTiO3 with x = 0.5 yielding values αC = 25 psm?1 and αE = 3.2 mV/(cm·Oe). We show that the proper conversion between these two coefficients demands knowledge about the dielectric permittivity of the sample. For low BaTiO3 content the dielectric coefficient of the composite yields a better correspondence, whereas for high BaTiO3 content the sample's average dielectric coefficient yields a better match. The influence of mutual orientation of polarization and magnetization on the ME effect is addressed. We found that for measurements performed parallel to the polarization direction (longitudinal effect), the ME coefficient is approximately twice as large and of opposite sign in comparison to the measurements perpendicular to the polarization direction (transverse effect). This difference has been rationalized in terms of the different contributions of the material coefficient tensor components to the ME effect, the demagnetizing factor, and losses. In this paper, we propose a new high-speed computation algorithm for solving a large N×N matrix system using the MIMD–SIMD Hybrid System. The MIMD–SIMD Hybrid System (also denoted as Hybrid System in this paper) is a new parallel architecture consisting of a combination of Cluster of Workstations (COWs) and SIMD systems working concurrently to produce an optimal parallel computation. We first introduce our prototype SIMD system and our Hybrid System setup before presenting how it can be implemented to find the unknowns in a large N×N linear matrix equation system using the Gauss–LU algorithm. This algorithm basically performs the ‘Divide and Conquer’ approach by breaking down the large N×N matrix system into a manageable 32 × 32 matrix for fast computation. 相似文献

We describe a novel framework for specifying and monitoring Service Level Agreements (SLA) for Web Services. SLA monitoring and enforcement become increasingly important in a Web Service environment where enterprise applications and services rely on services that may be subscribed dynamically and on-demand. For economic and practical reasons, we want an automated provisioning process for both the service itself as well as the SLA managment system that measures and monitors the QoS parameters, checks the agreed-upon service levels, and reports violations to the authorized parties involved in the SLA management process. Our approach to these issues is presented in this paper. The Web Service Level Agreement (WSLA) framework is targeted at defining and monitoring SLAs for Web Services. Although WSLA has been designed for a Web Services environment, it is applicable as well to any inter-domain management scenario, such as business process and service management, or the management of networks, systems and applications in general. The WSLA framework consists of a flexible and extensible language based on XML Schema and a runtime architecture comprising several SLA monitoring services, which may be outsourced to third parties to ensure a maximum of objectivity. WSLA enables service customers and providers to unambiguously define a wide variety of SLAs, specify the SLA parameters and the way they are measured, and relate them to managed resource instrumentations. Upon receipt of an SLA specification, the WSLA monitoring services are automatically configured to enforce the SLA. An implementation of the WSLA framework, termed SLA Compliance Monitor, is publicly available as part of the IBM Web Services Toolkit. 相似文献
