Lignocellulosic materials, particularly the ones of residual nature generated in agricultural and industrial activities, represent a renewable, abundant and cheap source of raw materials for multiple purposes. Barley husks belong to this type of materials. Aqueous fractionation of a solid byproduct from malting industries (denoted MSW), mainly made up of barley husks, leads to a liquid phase containing bioactive components (oligosaccharides derived from hemicelluloses with prebiotic activity and low molecular weight phenolics with antioxidant activity) and to a solid phase containing cellulose and lignin as major components. Antioxidant compounds can be separated from fractionation liquors by physicochemical processing, providing a practical approach to sustainable development. Based on experimental data, the solubilization of MSW hemicelluloses is assessed in terms of kinetics, composition, material balances and properties of the isolated fractions. The nature, refining and properties of the antioxidant compounds extracted from liquors obtained by non-isothermal processing of MSW are discussed on the basis of experimental results.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the numerical solution of the interaction of an incompressible fluid and an elastic structure in a truncated computational domain. As well known, in this case there is the problem of prescribing realistic boundary data on the artificial sections, when only partial data are available. This problem has been investigated extensively for the rigid case. In this work we start considering the compliant case, by focusing on the flow rate conditions for the fluid. We propose three formulations of this problem, different algorithms for its numerical solution and carry out several 2D numerical simulations with the aim of comparing the performances of the different algorithms.  相似文献

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) increases morbimortality in humans via enhanced susceptibility to cardiovascular disease (CVD). Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are drugs designed for T2DM treatment to diminish hyperglycaemia by reducing up to 90% of renal tube glucose reabsorption. Clinical studies also suggest a beneficial action of SGLT2i in heart failure and CVD independent of its hypoglycaemiant effect. In the present study, we explored the effect of SGLT2i dapagliflozin (DAPA) in the metabolism and atherosclerosis in Apoe−/−Irs2+/− mice, which display accelerated atherosclerosis induced by insulin resistance. DAPA treatment of Apoe−/−Irs2+/− mice, which were fed a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet, failed to modify body weight, plasma glucose or lipid. Carbohydrate metabolism characterisation showed no effect of DAPA in the glucose tolerance test (GTT) despite augmented insulin levels during the test. In fact, decreased C-peptide levels in DAPA-treated mice during the GTT suggested impaired insulin release. Consistent with this, DAPA treatment of Apoe−/−Irs2+/− isolated islets displayed lower glucose-stimulated insulin secretion compared with vehicle-treated islets. Moreover, insulin-signalling experiments showed decreased pAKT activation in DAPA-treated adipose tissue indicating impaired insulin signalling in this tissue. No changes were seen in lesion size, vulnerability or content of macrophages, vascular smooth muscle cells, T cells or collagen. DAPA did not affect circulating inflammatory cells or cytokine levels. Hence, this study indicates that DAPA does not protect against atherosclerosis in insulin-resistant mice in hypercholesterolemic conditions.  相似文献

This paper addresses a hierarchical production–distribution planning problem. There are two different decision makers controlling the production and the distribution processes, respectively, that do not cooperate because of different optimization strategies. The distribution company, which is the leader of the hierarchical process, controls the allocation of retailers to each depot and the routes which serve them. In order to supply items to retailers, the distribution company orders from the manufacturing company the items which have to be available at the depots. The manufacturing company, which is the follower of the hierarchical process, reacts to these orders deciding which manufacturing plants will produce them. A bilevel program is proposed to model the problem and an ant colony optimization based approach is developed to solve the bilevel model. In order to construct a feasible solution, the procedure uses ants to compute the routes of a feasible solution of the associated multi-depot vehicle route problem. Then, under the given data on depot needs, the corresponding production problem of the manufacturing company is solved. Global pheromone trail updating is based on the leader objective function, which involves costs of sending items from depots to retailers and costs of acquiring items from manufacturing plants and unloading them into depots. A computational experiment is carried out to analyze the performance of the algorithm.  相似文献

The single‐period problem (SPP) is to find the order quantity which maximizes the expected profit in a single period probabilistic demand framework. We extend the SPP to a case where a retailer uses delayed incentives in the form of cash mail‐in rebates to sell remaining inventory that did not sell at the regular price. The advantage of cash mail‐in rebates is that not all consumers will redeem them. We address three cases: (1) rebate value is predetermined and the order quantity is a decision variable; (2) order quantity is a decision variable and rebate value is set to the value needed to sell all excess inventory, and (3) order quantity is a decision variable and the rebate may be used to sell part of or all excess inventory. In the third case, any inventory remaining after the rebate offer is salvaged at reduced price. We provide analytical solutions for uniform and exponential demand distributions. In all cases, rebates can lead to significant increases in expected profit. We first maximize the expected profit. We then maximize the probability of achieving a target profit and show that the use of rebates can lead to a substantial increase in that probability.  相似文献

The plasma powder transferred arc welding process which uses feed stock in a powder form has similarities with plasma wire transferred arc welding. This paper describes a comparative study of the two processes using a cobalt-based alloy commercially known as stellite 6. This Co-based alloy is recognized for its superior cavitation erosion resistance. The aim of this paper is to investigate the potential of plasma transferred arc coatings for the protection and refurbishment of hydraulic turbine blades. Coatings were evaluated for the influence of plasma gas flow rate on coating dilution, geometry, hardness and microstructure. Coatings processed with the atomized stellite 6 powder feedstock showed a superior surface quality, lower dilution, better wettability and wider tracks. This study provided new information about the refurbishing of worn hydraulic turbine blades, leading to a longer service working life.  相似文献

The paper presents an analysis of the failure in service of a lifting platform used for tree pruning. Different fracture mechanics techniques were used to reveal the causes of failure such as analysis of the fracture surface, mechanical and microstructural characterization of the material and fracture mechanics tests to determine the critical value of the stress intensity factor and to characterize the subcritical crack growth under fatigue. Results yield do conclude that the platform failure cause was the subcritical crack growth in the welded joint where the welding was discontinuous, thereby producing a stress concentration effect similar to that of a crack.  相似文献

This work analyzes the effect of post-deposition rapid thermal annealing (RTA) on the crystal quality and the piezoelectric response of sputtered polycrystalline aluminium nitride (AlN) thin films. AlN films with mixed crystal texture were not significantly affected by RTA processing. However, in films exhibiting clear c-axis preferred orientation, the annealing produced a crystallization process, characterized by an increase in the grain size of the original crystallites, the growth of new small grains, and the reduction of defects. The improvement in the crystal quality was more evident in highly textured c-axis oriented films. However, the enhanced crystal quality of the films due to RTA was not accompanied by a significant improvement in the piezoelectric response. This is attributed to the presence of grains with opposite polarities that could not be rearranged through the RTA treatment.  相似文献
