1. This study was to determine the effects of heat load early in life on thermoregulatory responses and whole blood viscosity of broilers during a subsequent exposure to high environmental temperature later in life. 2. The birds, which had been subjected to exposure to 38 degrees C for 24 h at 5-d-old, served as prior exposure group (group A). Both group A and control group B were exposed to 33 degrees C for 3 h when near marketable weight. 3. On exposure to 33 degrees C, although there were no significant differences in the increases in heat production (HP) between the two groups, abdominal temperature (Ta), temperature of external ear tract (Tee), shank skin temperature (Tss), standing-lying frequency and lying time were lower in group A than in group B. Heart rate (HR) and comb surface temperature (Tcs) did not differ but increased in both groups during exposure to 33 degrees C. Respiration rate (RR) was greater in group A. 4. Blood viscosity decreased markedly in both groups after exposure to 33 degrees C; the decrease was greater in group A. 5. These results suggest that early exposure may promote broilers' ability to cope with the subsequent heat load by altering thermoregulatory physiological responses and behavioural patterns, resulting in an alleviation of heat stress.  相似文献

This paper analyzes a Newsvendor type inventory model in which a manufacturer sells a single product to a retailer store whose inventory is subject to errors stemming from execution problems. Hence, within the store, all of the products are not available on shelf for sales either because the replenishment of the shelf from the backroom is subject to execution errors that mainly result in products lost in the backroom or products misplaced on the other shelves of the store. We compare two situations: in the first situation, the two supply chain actors are aware of errors and optimize their ordering decisions by taking into account this issue. The second situation deals with the case where an advanced automatic identification system such as the Radio Frequency Identification technology is deployed in order to eliminate errors. Each situation is developed for three scenarios: in the centralized scenario, we consider a single decision-maker who is concerned with maximizing the entire supply chain’s profit; in the decentralized uncoordinated scenario, the retailer and the manufacturer act as different parties and do not cooperate. The third scenario is the decentralized coordinated scenario where we give conditions for coordinating the channel by designing a buyback contract. The limiting current technique, involving the cathodic controlled reduction of ferricyanide ions, has been used in order to characterize the axial dispersion and the solid-liquid mass transfer for a non-Newtonian shear thinning power-law fluid flowing through fixed beds of spherical and parallelepipedal particles. For each of the two phenomena, results corresponding to Newtonian and non-Newtonian power-law flow at low Reynolds numbers can be described by the same dimensionless equation for beds packed with particles of the same shape.This paper was presented at the Workshop on Electrodiffusion Flow Diagnostics, CHISA, Prague, August 1990.  相似文献

This paper reports on the feasibility of using various Photovoltaic (PV) systems namely; Grid PV (GPV), Stand-Alone PV (SAPV), Grid PV Wind (GPVW) and PV Wind (PVW) for supplying the power requirements of a window-type air-conditioning system or other small loads. It was found that the GPVW system is the best system to meet the load requirement of a window-type air-conditioning system under the climatic conditions of Oman with values ranging from $39,500 to $56,500 for the capital cost and $9,000 to $33,000 for the total net capital cost depending on the wind speed. These values are attractive for remote off grid applications.  相似文献

Accurate measurements have been made to determine radiation transmission of concretes produced with barite, colemanite and normal aggregate by using beam transmission method for 0.663 MeV γ-rays energy of 137Cs radioactive isotopes by using NaI(Tl) scintillation detector. Linear and mass attenuation coefficients of thirteen heavy- and four normal-weight concretes were calculated. It was determined that the linear attenuation coefficient (μ, cm−1) decreased with colemanite concentration and increased with barite concentration in both type of the concretes. Mass attenuation coefficient values of our concretes were compared with the values proposed by the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).  相似文献

Structured lipids resembling human milk fat and containing GLA were synthesized by an enzymatic interesterification between tripalmitin, hazelnut oil FA, and GLA in n-hexane. Commercially immobilized 1,3-specific lipases, lipozyme® RM IM and Lipozyme® TL IM, were used as the biocatalysts. The effect of these enzymes on the incorporation levels was investigated. A central composite design with five levels and three factors—substrate ratio, reaction temperature, and time—were used to model and optimize the reaction conditions via response surface methodology. Good quadratic models were obtained for the incorporation of GLA (response 1) and oleic acid (response 2) by multiple regression and backward elimination. The determination coefficient (R 2) values for the models were found to be 0.92 and 0.94 for the reactions catalyzed by Lipozyme RM IM, and 0.92 and 0.88 for the reactions catalyzed by Lipozyme TL IM, respecitively. The optimal conditions generated from the models for the targeted GLA (10%) and oleic acid (45%) incorporation were 14.8 mol/mol, 55°C, and 24 h; 14 mol/mol, 55°C, and 24 h for substrate ratio (moles total FA/mol tripalmitin), temperature and time for the reactions catalyzed by Lipozyme RM IM and Lipozyme TL IM, respectively. Human milk fat substitutes containing GLA that can be included in infant formulas were success-fully produced using both Lipozyme RM IM and Lipozyme TL IM enzymes. The effect of the two enzymes on the incorporation of GLA and oleic acid were found to be similar.  相似文献

Calcium phosphates with Ca/P molar ratios of 0.5, 0.75, 1.33, 1.5, 1.55, 1.67, 2.0, and 2.5 were synthesized by a wet chemistry precipitation method and sintered at 500 °C, 700 °C, 900 °C, 1100 °C and 1300 °C for 2 h. Presence of phases and microstructures of calcium phosphates were determined by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. In all different Ca/P ratios, the precipitated phase was always hydroxyapatite with very small size and/or partial disorderness regardless of the Ca/P ratios in the starting precipitating medium. For samples with 0.5 and 0.75 Ca/P ratios in starting solution, tricalcium phosphate and calcium pyrophosphate phases were observed. In contrast, for samples with 1.0 and 1.33 Ca/P ratios, the only stable phase was tricalcium phosphate. For the samples with Ca/P ratio of 1.5, the tricalcium phosphate phase was dominant. However, small amounts of hydroxyapatite started to appear. For samples with Ca/P ratio of 1.67, the hydroxyapatite phase was dominant. Lastly, for samples with the Ca/P ratios of 2.0 and 2.5, the CaO phase started to appear in addition to the hydroxyapatite phase which was the dominant phase. Moreover, the average grain size, porosity (%) and the average pore size decreased with increasing the Ca/P ratios.  相似文献

Frozen potato puree samples were tempered using an ohmic heating technique. Three salt concentrations (0.50, 0.75, and 1.00 %) and three frequency levels (10, 20, and 30 kHz) were used as experimental variables, and the effects of salt concentration and frequency on ohmic tempering were investigated. Temperature, electrical current, and voltage were measured during the ohmic tempering. Electrical conductivities were evaluated based on the sample geometry and the ohmic heating principle. Increasing the salt concentration and/or frequency increased the electrical conductivity and heating rate, and hence contributed to decreasing the tempering time for the frozen potato puree samples. The tempering time was lowest with the highest salt concentration employed, and longest for the lowest salt concentration and frequency. Temperature differences within the sample during ohmic heating were found to be lowest when employing 0.50 % salt concentration and 10 kHz frequency.  相似文献
