The production capacities of plants for metal pulverisation are frequently rated according to the minimum throughput of melt flowing from the distributor crucible to pulverisation. Especially in the case of high‐melting point metals and their alloys deficiencies occur in the thermal balance of the crucible in the exit section as a result of gas expansion at the pulverisation gas jets, which act as heat sinks. Minimum throughputs and associated limiting values of the convective heat transfer of the melt are stipulated in order to prevent "freezing" (solidification of the melt) in the crucible. The pertinent situation is illustrated for copper and steel melts and technical possibilities for compensating for heat deficiencies by inductive heating of the distributor exit are presented. In addition, the demand for minimum throughputs can be abandoned, and there result possibilities of scaling‐down and energy conservation as well as improvement of powder discharge. 相似文献

Many polysaccharides with varying shear stability have been grafted with polyacrylamide branches to enhance their turbulent drag‐reducing and flocculating characteristics. Their aqueous solutions have been studied by shear and extensional rheometric techniques. All the solutions of grafted carboxymethyl cellulose, guar gum, starch, and sodium alginate exhibit shear‐thinning non‐Newtonian behavior. The viscosities are higher than those of ungrafted polysaccharides. The solutions of grafted carboxymethyl cellulose, guar gum and sodium alginate are spinnable. When subjected to uniaxial stretching in a stretching device, the formation of a thread and reduction of the thread diameter with time were observed. The stretching device was used to measure the relaxation time, which was found to be the largest (∼26 ms), on the order of flexible polyacrylamide, for the grafted carboxymethyl cellulose. Though a polyacrylamide solution degrades through nozzle flow and completely loses its extensional properties, a solution of grafted carboxymethyl cellulose retains about half its relaxation time because of the shear stability of polysaccharide chains and their structure. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A new method for the measurement of allergen-specific IgD (as-IgD) was developed by modifying the ImmunoCAP assay (Pharmacia), and amplification of the signal with a goat anti-human/rabbit anti-goat detection system. The assay was sensitive enough to measure as-IgD in serum samples. The specificity of the assay was examined using inhibition tests with excess corresponding and non-corresponding allergens. For the different allergens inhibition rates between 56% (house dust mite) and 88% (cat) could be achieved. Non-corresponding allergens did not inhibit the as-IgD binding. Total IgE and allergen-specific IgE (as-IgE) was measured using the ImmunoCAP system. Total IgD was measured using a sandwich ELISA. As-IgD was measured in serum samples from 51 atopic and 23 non-atopic subjects, and the correlation with as-IgE was examined. As-IgD was detected in both atopics and non-atopics but at higher levels in atopics. As-IgD against birch pollen and timothy pollen allergen was found to be increased in atopics with IgE directed against these allergens compared to atopics without IgE against these allergens (P < 0.02 and P < 0.03). As-IgD against birch pollen allergen was higher in atopics with IgE specific to this allergen than in non-atopics (P < 0.02). In contrast to total IgE and total IgD, significant correlations were observed between as-IgD and as-IgE against timothy pollen (r = 0.34, P < 0.04), birch pollen (r = 0.38, P < 0.05) and cat dander allergen (r = 0.52, P < 0.01). The observed correlations between as-IgD and IgE suggest that IgD and IgE may be similarly regulated, and thus the measurement of as-IgD may give further insight into the regulation of IgE. 相似文献

The Staphylococcus hyicus lipase is an acyl hydrolase with broadsubstrate specificity including neutral glycerides and phospholipids.To obtain further insight into the mechanism of action of thisenzyme, we tested several sulfonyl fluorides as active site-directedinhibitors. The enzyme is resistant to the well-known serineprotease/esterase inhibitor phenylmethanesulfonyl fluoride (PMSF),but is rapidly inactivated by hexadecylsulfonyl fluoride. Thekinetics of inactivation were studied in Triton X-100 micelles.Inactivation is fast and the rate of inactivation is constantover the pH range where this lipase is active. Metal ions likeCa2+ and Sr2+ do not appreciably influence the rate of inactivation,although the enzymatic activity is significantly increased,suggesting a structural role for these ions. The S.hyicus lipasecontains a consensus sequence G-H/Y-S-X-G. Substitution by site-directedmutagenesis of this serine (Ser369) by a cysteine resulted ina mutant with only 0.2% residual activity. The activity of thismutant could not be inhibited with water-soluble sulfhydrylreagents either in the presence or absence of Triton X-100 micelles.In the presence of Triton X-100 micelles, inactivation of themutant occurred with 4-nitrophenylhexadecyl disulfide (t1/2= 125 min) while the wild-type enzyme does not react at all.We conclude that Ser369 is the active site residue and thatin water this residue is inaccessible. Research in emotional design and Kansei Engineering has shown that aesthetics play a significant role in the appeal of a product. This paper contributes to establishing a methodology to identify the relationships between perceptions, aesthetic features, desire to own and background of consumers. Surveys were conducted with 71 participants to gather their perceptions of 11 vase concepts. Advanced statistical analyses, including mixed models, were applied to allow generalisation of the results beyond the data sample. Significant relations between the desire to own a product and how the product is perceived were found (the desire to own was found to be related to beautiful, expensive, elegant, exciting, feminine, common and dynamic vases), as well as between the perceptions and the parameters describing the form of the vases (a vase was perceived as beautiful if it had many curved lines and was simple and tall). An automated mixed model analysis was conducted and revealed that general rules can be found between aesthetic features, perceptions and ownership, which can apply across gender and culture. The findings include design rules that link aesthetic features with perceptions. These contribute to research as guidelines for design synthesis and can either be implemented via shape grammars or parametric modelling approaches. These rules are also interesting for 3D printing applications, especially important when the consumer is the designer. A comprehensive simulation study conducted by the authors investigated the robustness of a predictive scheduling system in a dynamic and stochastic environment. The results revealed that to improve the robustness of a scheduling system, besides using a robust scheduling method with a frequent rescheduling policy, the shop load should be well controlled and kept balanced. Integrating the planning and the scheduling functions has been shown to achieve this objective. This paper discusses the effects of the planning i.e. job releasing and routing and the scheduling functions in creating a robust schedule and a framework to integrate the above functions is proposed. This system consists of a planning module that is concerned with job releasing and routing decisions and a scheduling module that provides the detailed scheduling. A mathematical model using the integer programming technique is use to demonstrate a solution for the planning module. In addition, a heuristic algorithm is used to solve the scheduling problem. It is shown that, in terms of shop load balance level and job delivery time, the proposed system performs better than a benchmark loading strategy on the basis of minimum processing cost. 相似文献
