Drying behaviour of potato in a natural convection, solar dryer was investigated. In drying experiments conducted at low air velocity, as found in the solar dryer, it was shown that air flow conditions are of critical importance for drying behaviour. As a result of the presence of extensive, external mass transport resistances in deep bed drying, the air flow behaviour of the bed was more important than the drying behaviour of the single pieces. Thus, for deep bed solar drying, 10x10 mm french cut potatoes dried faster than 5 mm slices. (This result was opposite to that found for drying in thin layers). Drying time was noted to increase less rapidly than bed depth increased, so overall dryer productivity increased with increasing bed depth, within the constraint that drying be completable in 1 day.  相似文献

A corona based weakly ionized plasma source was developed to deposit plasma polymerized acetylene coating at atmospheric pressure.The plasma source included a distinctive point-to-point geometry consisting of an array of high voltage needles and an array of protrusions placed over a grounded screen.The geometry facilitated various corona discharge modes that included return corona to contribute plasma polymerized acetylene deposition downstream from the corona section.Scanning probe techniques were used to investigate deposition on both the leading surface and the trailing surface of substrates.Deposition was initiated as distinct nodules that merged to form a thin plasma polymerized coating.  相似文献

Mixed amorphous films are of interest as electronic materials and materials based on silicon monoxide are under substantial investigation. Comparisons are made between SiO/GeO2 and SiO/SnO2 films. In general the electrical properties of the two series are similar but the optical properties demonstrate significant differences. Waterlogging is an illustrious abiotic stress and the constrictions it enforces on plant roots have negative effectson growth and development. This study was undertaken to investigate waterlogging stress tolerant potential in chilli(Capsicum annum L.) genotypes through evaluating morphological, physiological, biochemical and anatomicalparameters. Thirty-five days old seedlings of 10 chilli genotypes were exposed to waterlogging stress maintainingwater height 3–5 cm over the soil surface artificially for three days. This duration (36–38 DAE) was termed aswaterlogging period, and subsequent withdrawal of waterlogging condition (39–45 DAE) was regarded as a recoveryphase. Based on their survival performance, two tolerant genotypes viz., SRC-517 and BARI morich-2 and twosusceptible genotypes viz., AHM-206 and RI-1(6) were selected for studying stress tolerance mechanism. Underwaterlogging, however, both genotypes (tolerant and susceptible) exhibited reduced root shoot length, dry weightratio, petiole weight and leaf area, and noticeable reduction regarding these parameters was observed in susceptiblegenotypes. Moreover, tolerant genotypes displayed a higher recovery than susceptible genotypes after removal ofwaterlogging stress. Lower reduction of leaf area and photosynthetic pigments as well as higher reduction of relativewater content (RWC) were noticed in susceptible genotypes. Higher accumulation of proline and total antioxidantcapacity (TAC) during waterlogging condition in tolerant genotypes suggested lower oxidative damage. Although bothgenotypes lost total soluble sugar (TSS) relative to control at waterlogging stress, better performance was recorded intolerant genotypes. During the period after the removal of extra water, a similar genotypic response in terms of TSSgain was seen. Undoubtedly, under flooding conditions, the development of aerenchyma cells in tolerant genotypes isa means of tolerance mechanism for long-term survival. Thus, the morpho-physiological and biochemical changeshelp to understand the tolerance mechanism in chilli under waterlogging stress.  相似文献

One of the most challenging Job have been towards the development of relaying scheme for the protection of transmission line,because of its long length and its consequent, exposure to atmospheric hazards; therefore, BHV and UHV transmission systems need a reliable, fast, efficient and low cost protection scheme. Protection schemes using microprocessor is ahead in this direction as it is capable of realizing any type of complex threshold characteristics with changes in the software along and with minimal changes in the hardware. It is also capable of doing self-checks. The present paper is a step to this direction where microprocessor based protection scheme for on line protection of EHV/UHV transmission line using the fundamental components is designed, fabricated and tested in the lab. Amino acid composition and freezing quality of a green-seeded vegetable-type soybean, ‘Emerald’ were evaluated at 86, 90, 95, 100, and 105 days after planting. Threonine, methionine, lysine, and arginine had an increasing trend with maturity. In general, with the exception of valine and tryptophan, the amino acid values of ‘Emerald’ were very close to the FAO/WHO reference pattern. In regard to the sensory attributes of frozen ‘Emerald’, panel members favored soybeans of intermediate maturities except for color and appearance, for widen the earlier maturities (86, 90 days) were preferred.  相似文献
