A method to determine the refractive index and thickness of silver halide emulsions used in holography is presented. The emulsions are in the form of a layer of film deposited on a thick glass plate. The experimental reflectances of p-polarized light are measured as a function of the incident angles, and the values of refractive index, thickness, and extinction coefficient of the emulsion are obtained by using the theoretical equation for reflectance. As examples, five commercial holographic silver halide emulsions are analyzed. The procedure to obtain the measurements and the numerical analysis of the experimental data are simple, and agreement of the calculated reflectances, by use of the thickness and refractive index obtained, with the measured reflectances is satisfactory.  相似文献

The purpose of this work was to study whether exercise training induces changes in the lipid profile of rat aorta and nervous system and in the in vitro intrinsic responsiveness of these tissues to endothelin-1 (ET-1) treatment. The exercise program performed successfully produced the characteristic metabolic alterations of the trained state. Exercise training induced a large and significant increase in the levels of both aortic ethanolamine plasmalogens (PlasEtn) and glucosylceramides. In contrast, a decrease of aortic ceramide and cholesterol levels was evoked by exercise training. ET-1 increased PlasEtn content only in sedentary animals. An exercise-induced increase in cerebellum levels of ceramides and ceramide monohexosides was found. The cerebellum ceramide content was increased by FT-1 more noticeably in sedentary rats than in trained animals. In contrast, cerebral cortex was observed to be largely insensitive to both exercise training and ET-1 treatment. It was concluded that exercise training (i) induces changes in both vascular and cerebellar lipid profiles, the former being much more pronounced than the latter, and (ii) diminishes the aortic and cerebellar sensitivity to ET-1 action.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The main aim of this work was to define how 1‐methylcyclopropene (1‐MCP) treatment affects apple fruit quality by two complementary approaches. RESULTS: The results confirmed that 1‐MCP treatment maintained firmness and acidity of the fruit. Multivariate analysis distinguished treated and untreated fruits and showed that a relationship exists between 1‐MCP treatment and firmness, and also between 1‐MCP and the physiological disorder, ‘diffuse skin browning’ (DSB). Relationships for acidity were low and absent for soluble‐solids concentration (SSC). The PCA model built only with 1‐MCP treated fruit showed a positive correlation between DSB incidence and firmness, and a negative correlation between DSB and SSC or a* values. Collectively, these correlations indicated that the more immature fruits are more susceptible to DSB. This last model also characterised acidity as the best parameter to discriminate the 1‐MCP fruits. CONCLUSION: It is the first time that such a comparative study has been conducted on 1‐MCP treated fruits. The results are of interest because they (1) help to discriminate treated and untreated fruits, and (2) allow discrimination of 1‐MCP‐treated fruit during storage. The biosorption capacities of palladium and platinum were studied in three different species of Desulfovibrio: Desulfovibrio desulfuricans, Desulfovibrio fructosivorans and Desulfovibrio vulgaris. The influence of several parameters such as pH, acidic background and competitor anions on biosorption equilibria and biosorption kinetics were evaluated. Differences were observed between the three strains of Desulfovibrio with respect to the optimum biosorption parameters of both metals, suggesting differences in the metal speciation–dependent sorption mechanisms involved. The most promising Pd and Pt biosorption results were obtained using D desulfuricans with rapid achievement of equilibrium (90% of total sorption was achieved in 5–15 min) and a maximum value of 190 mg g?1 dry biomass and 90 mg g?1 dry biomass for Pd and Pt accumulation respectively, at pH 3. Increased efforts to improve urban water management are focused on demand side policies, seeking to affect the behavior of users so that a “reasonable” use of water resources is reached. In this framework the accurate characterization of water demand play a major role in obtaining sufficient knowledge about this behavioral response to changes in price. In this paper we focus on the water demand of the services and industries connected to the public water network. To this end, we carry out an empirical estimation of urban water demand for service and industrial use in Zaragoza (Spain). The proposed model is a Koyck flow adjustment demand model, and a price specification, which is constructed as a function of the lagged average price, current marginal price and a price perception parameter. We use a dynamic panel data methodology to estimate the water demand function. As far as we are aware, this approach to service and industrial urban water demand is new in the literature. The analysis suggests that although price has a negative relationship with consumption, such an effect is reduced given that the price elasticity is lower than one in absolute value. Another relevant finding is that service and industrial urban users think that they pay a lower price than the actual price they pay.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Some European pear varieties treated with 1‐methylcyclopropene (1‐MCP) often remain ‘evergreen’, meaning that their ripening process is blocked and does not resume after removal from cold storage. In this work this was confirmed also to be the case in ‘Conference’ pears. To reverse the blockage of ripening 1‐MCP treatments combined with external exogenous ethylene were tested. RESULTS: 1‐MCP treatment of ‘Conference’ pears is very effective in delaying ripening and, more specifically, softening. The same 1‐MCP concentration in different experimental years caused a different response. The higher dose of 1‐MCP (600 nL L?1) always resulted in irreversible blockage of ripening, whereas the behaviour of fruit receiving a lower dose (300 nL L?1) depended on the year, and this did not depend on maturity at harvest or on storage conditions. Simultaneous exposure to 1‐MCP and exogenous ethylene significantly affected fruit ripening, allowing significant softening to occur but at a lower rate compared with control fruit. CONCLUSION: The application of exogenous ethylene and 1‐MCP simultaneously after harvest permitted restoration of the ripening process after storage in ‘Conference’ pears, extending the possibility of marketing and consumption. Proteolytic and lipolytic changes were studied throughout ripening of five batches of León cow's milk cheese, a traditional variety made in the north of Spain. Total soluble nitrogen, non-protein nitrogen, oligopeptides nitrogen, amino nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen fractions increased slightly during the ripening process. The final values of these nitrogen fractions indicate that this cheese undergoes a very slight proteolysis as much in extent as in depth. This weak protein degradation is corroborated when the caseins and their degradation products were quantified by electrophoresis. β-Casein stayed practically intact throughout the ripening process and only 10% of αs-casein became degraded. The content of total free amino acids increased progressively but in a slightly increased way during ripening, reaching final average values of 592 mg (100 g)−1 of total solids. The most abundant free amino acid at the end of ripening was lysine, followed by leucine, glutamic acid, tryptophan, valine and phenylalanine. The acidity index of the fat values increased during ripening by a factor of 4.39. The final values of this parameter are in the range of those observed in other cow's milk cheeses ripened by bacteria. The content in total free fatty acids underwent an increase throughout ripening reaching final average values of 6669 ppm. The most abundant free fatty acid at the end of ripening was oleic acid followed by butyric and palmitic acids. The high content of short-chain fatty acids is outstanding, specially that of butyric acid.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a DEA approach aimed at deriving a common set of weights (CSW) to be used to the ranking of decision making units (DMUs). The idea of this approach is to minimize the deviations of the CSW from the DEA profiles of weights without zeros of the efficient DMUs. This minimization reduces in particular the differences between the DEA profiles of weights that are chosen, so the CSW proposed is a representative summary of such DEA weights profiles. We use several norms to the measurement of such differences. As a result, the CSWs derived are actually different summaries of the chosen DEA profiles of weights like their average profile of their median profile. This approach is illustrated with an application to the ranking of professional tennis players.  相似文献

Light red tomatoes were exposed to different doses of ultraviolet C (UV‐C) irradiation (1.0, 3.0 and 12.2 kJ m?2). After treatment, the tomatoes were stored for 2 days at room temperature, and then analysed to determine the effect of irradiation on the main antioxidants, carotenoids and phenolic compounds and the results compared with the control samples. The lycopene content was found to have increased by 14% with respect to the control samples, while β‐carotene decreased. Cis‐isomers from lycopene also increased when the tomatoes were exposed to irradiation for more than 3 h. UV‐C irradiation also had a positive effect on total phenolic compounds; however, the same effect was not observed in the individually analysed phenolic compounds. While chlorogenic and ferulic acids increased in content, naringenin and rutin contents decreased. These results suggest that UV‐C irradiation of tomatoes could improve the beneficial effect of red tomatoes for human health by increasing the levels of certain bioactive compounds; it could also be used to obtain higher content of bioavailability components, such as cis‐isomers from lycopene.  相似文献
