Renewable energy sources have received increased interest from the international community with biomass being one of the oldest and the most promising ones. In the concept of exploitation of agro-industrial residues, the present study investigates the pre-treatment and ethanol fermentation potential of the olive pulp, which is the semi solid residue generated from the two-phase processing of the olives for olive oil production. Wet oxidation and enzymatic hydrolysis have been applied aiming at the enhancement of carbohydrates' bioavailability. Different concentrations of enzymes and enzymatic durations have been tested. Both wet oxidation and enzymic treatment were evaluated based on the ethanol obtained in a subsequent fermentation step by Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Thermoanaerobacter mathranii. It was found that a four-day hydrolysis time was adequate for a satisfactory release of glucose and xylose. The combination of wet oxidation and enzymatic hydrolysis resulted in the glucose and xylose concentration increase of 138 and 444%, respectively, compared to 33 and 15% with only enzymes added. However, the highest ethanol production was obtained when only enzymic pre-treatment was applied, implying that wet oxidation is not a recommended pre-treatment process for olive pulp at the conditions tested. It was also showed that increased dry matter concentration did not have a negative effect on the release of sugars, indicating that the cellulose and xylan content of the olive pulp is relatively easily available. The results of the experiments in batch processes clearly emphasize that the simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) mode is advantageous in comparison with the separate hydrolysis and fermentation (SHF) mode concerning process contamination.  相似文献

In this paper, a Delay Tolerant Network environment is considered where the source is in full control of the two-hop spreading mechanism by setting key parameters such as the number of copies allowed to be spread in the network and the delay bound of the messages. The introduced analysis allows for a differentiation between the source of the message and the intermediate nodes (in terms of e.g. transmission power, speed or cooperation degree). Analytical expressions for the cumulative distribution function (cdf) of the delivery delay and the induced overhead are extracted, taking into account the fact that the source node may continue spreading copies after the message delivery. In addition, a fairly accurate approximate expression for the cdf of the delivery delay is also derived and validated through simulations.  相似文献

Nowadays, organic solar cells have the interest of engineers for manufacturing flexible and low cost devices. The considerable progress of this nanotechnology area presents the possibility of investigating new effects from a fundamental science point of view. In this letter we highlight the influence of the concentration of fullerene molecules on the ultrafast transport properties of charged electrons and polarons in P3HT/PCBM blended materials which are crucial for the development of organic solar cells. Especially, we report on the femtosecond dynamics of localized (P2 at 1.45 eV) and delocalized (DP2 at 1.76 eV) polaron states of P3HT matrix with the addition of fullerene molecules as well as the free-electron relaxation dynamics of PCBM-related states. Our study shows that as PCBM concentration increases, the amplified exciton dissociation at bulk heterojunctions leads to increased polaron lifetimes. However, the increase in PCBM concentration can be directly related to the localization of polarons, creating thus two competing trends within the material. Our methodology shows that the effect of changes in structure and/or composition can be monitored at the fundamental level toward optimization of device efficiency.  相似文献

Charge exchange at the bulk heterojunctions of composites made by mixing single wall nanotubes (SWNTs) and polymers show potential for use in optoelectronic devices such as solar cells and optical sensors. The density/total area of these heterojunctions is expected to increase with increasing SWNT concentration but the efficiency of solar cell peaks at low SWNT concentrations. Most researchers use current–voltage measurements to determine the evolution of the SWNT percolation network and optical absorption measurements to monitor the spectral response of the composites. However, these methods do not provide a detailed account of carrier transport at the concentrations of interest; i.e., near or below the percolation threshold. In this article, we show that capacitance–voltage (CV) response of (metal)-(oxide)-(semiconducting composite) devices can be used to fill this gap in studying bulk heterojunctions. In an approach where we combine optical absorption methods with CV measurements we can acquire a unified optoelectronic response from P3HT-SWNT composites. This methodology can become an important tool for optoelectronic device optimization.  相似文献

Twenty-four 12-week-old female turkeys divided into four equal groups were fed a basal diet (CONT) or basal diet supplemented with 300 mg α-tocopheryl acetate/kg (TOC), or 5 g rosemary/kg (ROS5), or 10 g rosemary/kg (ROS10), for 4 weeks. Following slaughter, fillets from breast were stored at 4 °C in the dark for 12 days, and lipid oxidation was assessed on the basis of the malondialdehyde formed, whereas microbial growth on the basis of total viable counts (TVC), lactic acid bacteria (LAB), Enterobacteriaceae (ENB) and psychrotrophic (PSY) bacteria. Results showed that incorporation of dried rosemary in turkey diets delayed lipid oxidation in raw breast meat during refrigerated storage. Dietary rosemary at the level of 1 g/100 g was significantly (P<0.05) more effective in delaying lipid oxidation compared to 0.5 g/100 g but inferior to the dietary supplementation of 300 mg α-tocopheryl acetate/kg. TVC, LAB, ENB and PSY bacterial counts were all significantly increased (P<0.05) in breast samples of all groups throughout the refrigerated storage. The TOC and CONT groups presented TVC, LAB, ENB and PSY counts that did not differ (P>0.05) among each other, during the whole storage period. However, the rosemary-supplemented groups presented bacterial counts that were significantly lower (P<0.05) than the CONT and TOC groups, at day 2 of storage period and thereafter. During this period, the ROS5 group presented TVC, LAB, ENB and PSY counts that were significantly higher (P<0.05) than the ROS10 group.  相似文献

Identification of buffalo dairy products has become an important issue to ascertain product quality, consumer rights and absence of food-borne allergic reactions. A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by a high resolution melting (HRM) analysis was developed and applied for species specific detection of bovine milk in nine different commercial buffalo dairy products. A specific buffalo 12S rRNA and a bovine d-loop primer pair, targeting the mitochondrial genome, were employed in a duplex PCR assay. The analysis developed was found capable of identifying the presence of bovine milk down to 1% in commercial buffalo milk products and also of quantifying the ratio of bovine into buffalo milk. HRM was proven to be a fast and accurate technique for a routine authentication testing of mozzarella and other buffalo milk products.  相似文献
