Multilayered structures with 14–50 nm periods composed of titanium and two different titanium oxides, TiO and TiO2, were accurately produced by DC magnetron sputtering using the reactive gas pulsing process. The structure and composition of these periodic TiO2/TiO/Ti stacks were investigated by X-ray diffraction and transmission electronic microscopy techniques. Two crystalline phases, hexagonal close packed Ti and face centred cubic TiO, were identified in the metallic-rich sub-layers, whereas the oxygen-rich ones comprised a mixture of amorphous TiO2 and rutile phase. DC electrical resistivity ρ measured for temperatures ranging from 300 to 500 K exhibited a metallic-like behaviour (ρ473K = 1.05 × 10?5 to 1.45 × 10?6 Ω m) with a temperature coefficient of resistance ranging from 1.20 × 10?3 K?1 for the highest period (Λ = 50.0 nm) down to negative values close to ?4.97 × 10?4 K?1 for the smallest one (Λ = 14.0 nm). A relationship between the dimensions of periodic layers and their collective electrical resistivity is proposed where the resistivity does not solely depend on the total thickness of the film, but also depends on the chemical composition and thickness of each sub-layer. Charge carrier mobility and concentration measured by the Hall effect were both influenced by the dimension of TiO2/TiO/Ti periods and the density of ionized scattering centres connected to the titanium concentration in the metallic sub-layers.  相似文献

This study investigates the linear hydrodynamic scattering problem by stationary prolate spheroidal bodies and aims at providing an analytic solution for the associated boundary value problem. It extends the work of the present author on the hydrodynamics of oblate spheroidal bodies following the same procedure. The structural model under consideration is a spheroid with its polar axis greater than its equatorial diameter, subjected to the action of monochromatic incident waves. The polar axis is assumed to be perpendicular to the free surface that leads to the axisymmetric case concept. The analytic solution is sought using the method of multipole expansions constructed by employing Thorne’s formulas (Multipole expansions in the theory of surface waves. Proc Cam Philos Soc 49:707–716, 1953) that describe the velocity potential at singular points within a fluid domain with free upper surface and infinite water depth. The final stage of the solution process is the application of the zero velocity condition on the wetted surface of the spheroid. Inevitably this task requires the transformation of the involved velocity potentials, originally expressed with respect to spherical and polar coordinates, into prolate spheroidal coordinates. To this end, the appropriate addition theorems are derived, which recast Thorne’s expressions into infinite series of associated Legendre functions.  相似文献

The important practical problem of planning the production of large assemblies employing an MRP-based system is considered. The objective is to produce products on-time, with minimal cycle time and low work-in-process costs. The approach is based on the determination of accurate lead-time estimates and on the introduction and use of lead-time offsets in the solution methodology. An effective Lead-time Evaluation and Scheduling Algorithm (LETSA) is employed that can perform detailed backward scheduling of operations belonging to a large assembly on a given facility with an objective of minimizing the cycle time. A scaling procedure is used to account for capacity sharing effects by multiple products in a common facility. These scaled lead-time estimates are then employed by an MRP-based system to release work-orders on the shop-floor. The effectiveness of these lead-times and lead-time offsets are evaluated by simulating production using the MRP generated order release times and verifying on-time completion of the multiple assemblies in the common facility. Numerical experiments are presented to validate the performance of the approach. Optimized batch sizes for minimal work-in-process (WIP) costs can also be obtained using LETSA. Thus, the important objectives of minimizing cycle time for on-time delivery and minimizing schedule costs can be accomplished simultaneously.  相似文献

A distributed evolutionary algorithm is presented that is based on a hierarchy of (fitness or cost function) evaluation passes within each deme and is efficient in solving engineering optimization problems. Starting with non-problem-specific evaluations (using surrogate models or metamodels, trained on previously evaluated individuals) and ending up with high-fidelity problem-specific evaluations, intermediate passes rely on other available lower-fidelity problem-specific evaluations with lower CPU cost per evaluation. The sequential use of evaluation models or metamodels, of different computational cost and modelling accuracy, by screening the generation members to get rid of non-promising individuals, leads to reduced overall computational cost. The distributed scheme is based on loosely coupled demes that exchange regularly their best-so-far individuals. Emphasis is put on the optimal way of coupling distributed and hierarchical search methods. The proposed method is tested on mathematical and compressor cascade airfoil design problems.  相似文献

The present study evaluated the effect of oregano essential oil (EO) on fresh salted, packaged (45%CO(2)/5%O(2)/50%N(2)) rainbow trout fillets and stored for a period of 21 d at 4 °C. Treatments included the following: M1 (control without added EO), M2 (EO 0.2%, v/w), and M3 (0.4%, v/w). Populations of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), H(2)S-producing bacteria (including Shewanella putrefaciens), Enterobacteriaceae, and Pseudomonas spp. reached higher final numbers in control (M1) than for M2 and M3 samples. Under treatments M2 and M3, total volatile basic nitrogen (TVBN) and trimethylamine nitrogen (TMAN) values were lower than for M1 samples, whereas lipid oxidation, as judged by determination of thiobarbituric acid values (TBA), did not occur during the refrigerated storage period. Interestingly, treatment M2 resulted in a shelf-life extension of 7 to 8 d for the fresh trout fillets, whereas treatment M3 proved unsuitable (due to strong odor) for trout fillet preservation, as determined by sensory evaluation. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: The use of an essential oil such as oregano oil in fresh fish preservation may be considered an alternative "natural" additive, enhancing the sensory characteristics and extending the shelf life of the product.  相似文献

The cities in the Aksios and Kalikratia areas in Northern Greece rely on arsenic contaminated groundwater for their municipal water supply. As remedial action strongly depends on arsenic speciation, the presence of other possible contaminants, and on the general water composition, a detailed study with samples from 21 representative locations was undertaken. Arsenic concentrations were typically 10-70 microg/L. In the groundwaters of the Aksios area with lower Eh values (87-172 mV), pH 7.5-8.2 and 4-6 mM HCO(3) alkalinity, As(III) predominated. Manganese concentrations were mostly above the EC standard of 0.05 mg/L (0.1-0.7 mg/L). In groundwaters of the Kalikratia area with higher Eh values (272-352 mV), pH 6.7-7.5 and 6-12 mM HCO(3) alkalinity, As(V) was the main species. Uranium in the groundwaters was also investigated and correlations with total arsenic concentrations and speciation were examined to understand more of the redox chemistry of the examined groundwaters. Uranium concentrations were in the range 0.01-10 microg/L, with the higher concentrations to occur in the oxidizing groundwaters of the Kalikratia area. Uranium and total arsenic concentrations showed no correlation, whereas uranium concentrations correlated strongly with As(III)/As(tot) ratios, depicting their use as a possible indicator of groundwater redox conditions. Finally, boron was found to exceed the EC drinking water standard of 1 mg/L in some wells in the Kalikratia area and its removal should also be considered in the design of a remedial action.  相似文献

A technique is proposed for obtaining current‐mode filters based on current mirror arrays that operate as unity gain current amplifiers. These amplifiers by properly driving capacitors realize active lossless integrators which are the basic active elements for the derivation of filters according to the leapfrog method. Due to the fact that both the structure of the amplifiers and the adapted method for filter design are simple, the proposed technique is attractive for filter design and implementation. A design and the implementation of two third‐order low‐pass filters are presented. The array of the amplifiers has been implemented in a 0.8 µm CMOS technology. The advent of heterogeneous and distributed environments, such as Grid environments, made feasible the solution to computational‐intensive problems in a reliable and cost‐effective manner. In parallel, workflows with increased complexity that require specialized systems to deal with them are emerging, so as to carry out more composite and mission‐critical applications. In that rationale, quality‐of‐service (QoS) issues need to be tackled in order to ensure that each application satisfies the corresponding user requirements. Therefore, considering the quality provision aspect as fundamental for enabling Grid applications to become QoS compliant, we present an approach for service selection using QoS criteria. The latter is achieved with a suite of components that allow the different mappings of application workflow processes to Grid services that not only meet the user goals and requirements but also maximize his/her benefit in terms of the offered QoS level. We also demonstrate the operation of the aforementioned suite of components and evaluate its performance and effectiveness using a Grid scenario, based on a 3D image rendering application. Corrosion of zerovalent iron (ZVI) in oxygen-containing water produces reactive intermediates that can oxidize various organic and inorganic compounds. We investigated the kinetics and mechanism of Fenton reagent generation and As(III) oxidation and removal by ZVI (0.1m2/g) from pH 3-11 in aerated water. Observed half-lives for the oxidation of initially 500 microg/L As(III) by 150 mg Fe(0)/L were 26-80 min at pH 3-9. At pH 11, no As(III) oxidation was observed during the first two hours. Dissolved Fe(III) reached 325, 140, and 6 microM at pH 3, 5, and 7. H2O2 concentrations peaked within 10 min at 1.2, 0.4, and < 0.1 microM at pH 3, 5, and 7, and then decreased to undetectable levels. Addition of 2,2'-bipyridine (1-3 mM), prevented Fe(II) oxidation by O2 and H2O2 and inhibited As(III)oxidation. 2-propanol (14 mM), scavenging OH-radicals, quenched the As(III) oxidation at pH 3, but had almost no effect at pH 5 and 7. Experimental data and kinetic modeling suggest that As(III) was oxidized mainly in solution by the Fenton reaction and removed by sorption on newly formed hydrous ferric oxides. OH-radials are the main oxidant for As(III) at low pH, whereas a more selective oxidant oxidizes As(III) at circumneutral pH.  相似文献
