Two novel organotin monomers, (N‐tri‐n‐butyltin) maleimide and m‐acryloylamino‐(tri‐n‐butyltin benzoate), were synthesized. Copolymerization of these two monomers with styrene was carried out in the bulk at 65°C using asobisisobutyronitrile as the free radical initiator. The monomers and copolymers were characterized by elemental analysis; the molecular weights of the copolymers were determined by GPC, solubility, IR, and 1H‐NMR spectral studies. The antibacterial activities of the synthesized organotin monomers and copolymers toward various types of bacteria were also reported. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The thermal behavior of Illitic-kaolinitic clay for manufacturing of low porosity ceramic Raschig rings was characterized
during the sintering process. The samples were shaped by extrusion method and fired at different temperatures from 1,100 to
1,300 °C. The main physical-chemical transformations were studied by evaluating changes in shrinkage, water absorption, porosity,
mechanical strength, microstructure and mineralogical compositions. The optimum sintering condition was found to obtain maximum
mechanical strength. Chemical resistance of ceramic Raschig rings also was determined according standard method. It was shown
that the better chemical resistance could be attributed to the different mineralogical compositions, in particular with presence

Carbon nanotube‐reinforced polymer composites are being investigated as promising new materials having enhanced physical and mechanical properties. With regards to mechanical behavior, the enhancements reported thus far by researchers are lower than the theoretical predictions. One of the key requirements to attaining enhanced behavior is a uniform dispersion of the nanotubes within the polymer matrix. Although solvent mixing has been used extensively, there are concerns that any remaining solvent within the composite may degrade its mechanical properties. In this work, a comparison is carried out between solvent and “solvent‐free” dry mixing for dispersing multiwall carbon nanotubes in polypropylene before further melt mixing by extrusion. Various weight fractions of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are added to the polymer and their effect on the mechanical properties of the resulting composites is investigated. Enhancements in yield strength, hardness, and Young's modulus when compared with the neat polymer, processed under similar conditions, are observed. Differences in mechanical properties and strain as a function of the processing technique (solvent or dry) are also clearly noted. In addition, different trends of enhancement of mechanical properties for the solvent and dry‐mixed extrudates are observed. Dry mixing produces composites with the highest yield strength, hardness, and modulus at 0.5 wt% CNT, whereas solvent mixing produces the highest mechanical properties at CNT contents of 1 wt%. It is believed that this difference is primarily dependent on the dispersion of CNTs within the polymer matrix which is influenced by the processing technique. Field emission scanning electron microscopy analysis shows the presence of clusters in large wt% CNT samples produced by dry mixing. Samples produced by solvent mixing are found to contain homogeneously distributed CNTs at all CNT wt fractions. Acute liver injury (ALI) is a severe disorder resulting from excessive hepatocyte cell death, and frequently caused by acetaminophen intoxication. Clinical management of ALI progression is hampered by the dearth of blood biomarkers available. In this study, a bioinformatics workflow was developed to screen omics databases and identify potential biomarkers for hepatocyte cell death. Then, discovery proteomics was harnessed to select from among these candidates those that were specifically detected in the blood of acetaminophen-induced ALI patients. Among these candidates, the isoenzyme alcohol dehydrogenase 1B (ADH1B) was massively leaked into the blood. To evaluate ADH1B, we developed a targeted proteomics assay and quantified ADH1B in serum samples collected at different times from 17 patients admitted for acetaminophen-induced ALI. Serum ADH1B concentrations increased markedly during the acute phase of the disease, and dropped to undetectable levels during recovery. In contrast to alanine aminotransferase activity, the rapid drop in circulating ADH1B concentrations was followed by an improvement in the international normalized ratio (INR) within 10–48 h, and was associated with favorable outcomes. In conclusion, the combination of omics data exploration and proteomics revealed ADH1B as a new blood biomarker candidate that could be useful for the monitoring of acetaminophen-induced ALI. 相似文献

This research investigates the use of equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) processing to produce a superplastic form of
the aluminum alloy 2098. The starting material was a hot-rolled and precipitation-hardened plate with elongated grains of
width 67–92 μm, and a composition in weight percent of 2.2% Li, 1.3% Cu, 0.73% Mg, 0.05% Zr, balance Al. Microstructural evolution
was investigated with optical and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and microhardness measurements after each step of
a multipass ECAE process. ECAE produced a submicron grain structure with an average size of about 0.5 μm. The sub-grain microstructure
size was a function of the magnitude of the input strain and the extrusion temperature. Misorientation angles of the developed
submicron structure increase with increasing number of passes at warm working temperatures. Superplastic behavior of the ECAE-processed
alloy was achieved. However, the low zirconium content of the 2098 alloy resulted in grain growth of the refined structure
at the superplastic processing temperatures, placing a lower limit on the deformation rates that can be used. 相似文献

FTIR study of the hydrogen bonding interactions within blends of different ratios of poly(styrene‐co‐acrylic acid) containing 18, 27, and 32 mol% of acrylic acid (SAA) and poly(styrene‐co‐N,N‐dimethylacrylamide) containing 17 mol% of N,N‐dimethylacrylamide (SAD‐17) was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively in the temperature range varying from room temperature to 210°C. Two new bands characterizing these interactions appeared in the 1800–1550 cm–1 region at 1730 cm–1 and 1616 cm–1 and are attributed to “liberated” carbonyl group of the acidic copolymer and the “associated amide” carbonyl group, respectively. Equilibrium constants describing both the self‐association K2 and inter‐association KA and the enthalpy of hydrogen bonding formation in the different blends were experimentally determined using a curve fitting analysis of the infra‐red spectra as a function of temperature using the appropriate equations derived from the Painter‐Coleman association model. The obtained results confirm the miscibility of these blends in the considered temperature range from the negative values of the total free energy of mixing ΔGM. We review some recent research developments on structure development during drawing of poly(ethylene terephthalate) film, and we report a study of constant-load drawing of amorphous PET film at temperatures of 120°C and 132°C, including the effects of redrawing high-temperature drawn film at lower temperature. To permit constant-load drawing at high temperature without inducing crystallization in the undrawn specimen, a drawing instrument was built that permits very rapid heating of the sample, and its operation is described. The initial stage of drawing at high temperatures is characterized by polymer flow where, owing to high rates of molecular relaxation, neither molecular orientation nor crystallization occurs. Strain-rate increases sharply in the course of the deformation, reducing the time available for relaxation, and the chains start to orient at a draw ratio that depends on temperature. Orientation rapidly reaches a saturation level, which is lower at the higher draw temperature. Crystallization onset seems to lag only slightly behind orientation onset because the critical orientation for inducing crystallization is very low at these temperatures. It appears that there is time for crystallization to proceed to pseudo-equilibrium values corresponding to a particular orientation level, which differs from previous results obtained from constant-force drawing at lower temperatures, and possible reasons for this are discussed. In two-stage drawing, where film drawn at 132°C was redrawn along the same axis at 100°C, high draw ratios were obtained despite the high strain rates, and the levels of noncrystalline orientation and crystallinity were similar to the levels expected from single stage drawing at 100°C. 相似文献

Previous investigations have shown a complex combination of thermal and flow effects during adsorption in highly loaded, narrow packed beds. Respective conditions were realized by packing relatively large zeolite particles in a narrow tube (which causes wall channelling) and adsorbing water vapour from air on the particles (which is highly exothermic). The present work extends the investigation to novel column configurations with purposely altered conditions of heat generation and flow—namely to diluted beds, annular beds and beds consisting of coated particles. Experimental results obtained by near infrared tomography are compared with the results of breakthrough experiments in conventional columns and with numerical calculations. The latter are conducted with a non-isothermal, two-dimensional model that not only considers the increase of porosity and flow velocity near the tube wall, but also expresses the effective transport coefficients as functions of the radial coordinate. The model provides reasonable accuracy under conditions for which the usual plug-flow assumption is questionable. 相似文献

ABSTRACT4043 aluminium deposits were elaborated using a 3D print device equipped with a Cold Metal Transfer welding source. Two sets of process parameters leading to different average powers were compared in order to establish the relations between the powers and energies produced and the geometrical characteristics of the deposits. The effects of the travel speed and layer superposition on the transfer mechanisms as well as on the geometrical characteristics of the deposits were discussed for both sets of parameters. In this study processed mango juice was packed in four types of containers and stored at different temperatures for 16 weeks through which furfural level determination and organoleptic assessment were conducted. The experiment revealed an evident relationship to exist among furfural level, storage temperature and type of packing material. Furfural level failed to closely parallel flavour difference; therefore it could be regarded as one of the features concomitant juice aging rather than accepted as a satisfactory criterion of off flavour. The study relates flavour deterioration to the changes in the lipid fraction of the juice. 相似文献
