Mass transfer is a key parameter affecting the performance of the passive direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs), which work under natural convection. In this study, effect of carbon nanofibers (CNFs) addition to the cathode microporous layer (MPL) on the performance of the passive DMFCs was investigated. The results indicated that CNFs content has a significant influence on both of the mass transport and the electrochemical surface area (ECSA). Interestingly, addition of the CNFs (20 wt.%) leads to increase the power density of the passive DMFC to 160% compared to pristine carbon black MPL. At low current density, the CNFs content has no influence on the performance, while at high current density the maximum performance can be obtained at 20 wt.% CNFs then the performance decreases with further increase in the CNFs content. Although the highest catalyst utilization is observed at 40 wt.% CNFs, a maximum power density of 36 mW cm–2 can be obtained at 20 wt.% CNFs and this is related to the significant effect of the mass transfer resistance under the passive operation conditions. Overall, addition of CNFs to the MPL can be considered an effective strategy to modify the passive DMFCs performance.  相似文献

Poly(butylene succinate-co-butylene adipate) (PBSA)-degrading bacterium, strain 1-A, was isolated from soil. Strain 1-A was identified as Bacillus pumilus on the basis of its physiological properties and partial 16S rRNA gene sequence. Strain 1-A also degraded poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) and poly(epsilon-caprolactone). On the other hand, poly(butylene adipate terephthalate) and poly(lactic acid) were minimally degraded by strain 1-A. The NMR spectra of degradation products from PBSA indicated that the adipate units were more rapidly degraded than 1,4-butanediol and succinate units. This seems to be one of the reasons why strain 1-A degraded PBSA faster than PBS.  相似文献

The performance of a microcombustor thermoelectric generator device based on a thermopile using p-type Bi0.3Sb1.7Te3 (BST) and n-type Pt films has been investigated. The BST films were prepared by two different methods—pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and sputter deposition—on Si3N4/SiO2 multilayers on Si substrate. The ceramic catalyst combustor was patterned on the thermopile end on a thin membrane fabricated by back-side bulk etching of the silicon substrate. At 138°C the thermoelectric power factors of the PLD and sputter-deposited films were 3.6 × 10−3 W/mK2 and 0.22 × 10−3 W/mK2, respectively. The power from the generator with the sputter-deposited film was 0.343 μW, which was superior to that of the device with the PLD film, which provided 0.1 μW, for combustion of a 200 sccm flow of 3 v/v% hydrogen in air.  相似文献

A four-way very long instruction word (VLIW), 312-MHz geometry processor with peripheral component interconnect/accelerated graphic port bus bridge was implemented in a 0.21-μm, 2.5-V, three-layer-metal CMOS process. We adopted (1) a software bypass mechanism, (2) single-instruction multiple-data stream instructions, (3) four sets of floating-point multiply add and accumulate execution units, (4) special condition code registers and a branch condition generator for a clipping operation, and (5) automatic clock delay tuning methodology. As a result of these features, we achieved a performance of 2.5 GFLOPS and 6.5 million polygons per second for a three-dimensional geometry processor, which is the highest published performance as a single geometry processor. Flow cytometry (FCM) and aerobic plate count (APC) by the culture method were performed on green tea samples spiked with Escherichia coli type strain NCTC9001 (ATCC11775) solutions of different concentrations. In FCM, fluorescence signals from multiple stained bacteria and other fluorophores are detected using detector channels, and recorded as events with a voltage at each channel. FCM data were analyzed in two ways: conventional and multivariate analysis. In the former, the number of events with voltages larger than the defined threshold values was regarded as the predicted APC. In the latter, voltage histograms of all channels were obtained and merged horizontally to serve as explanatory variables. Then a partial least squares regression (PLSR) model was built to predict APC from the histogram data. The coefficient of determination (R2) and the root mean square error (RMSE) between APC by the culture method and that predicted by conventional FCM were 0.916 and 1.08 cfu/ml2. The APC values predicted by the PLSR model and those measured were in good agreement with R2 of 0.982 and RMSE of 0.417 cfu/ml, which verified the potential of the proposed method for improving APC prediction accuracy by FCM.  相似文献

This paper suggests a stochastic model how to determine a fault margin in a computer system, who fails when the total number of hidden faults exceeds a threshold level N of tolerance: A fault occurs at a non-homogeneous Poisson process, and (i) becomes system failure with probability p1, (ii) becomes hidden fault with probability p2 and is accumulated, or (iii) is removed with probability p3. The expected cost rate to system failure is derived, and an optimal number N* to minimize it is discussed. A numerical example is finally given.  相似文献

The optimum conditions for the fluorine passivation of 316L stainless steel are described. The direct fluoridation products formed at temperatures of 320°C or lower are composed solely of FeF2 , while those which were formed at the temperatures of 330°C or higher have a compound-phase composition of FeF2 and FeF 3. At a critical temperature (400°C for 316L stainless steel) of the thermal modification process, FeF3 is converted to FeF2 and disappears completely as the temperature rises. Meanwhile, CrF3 is formed at a certain temperature (440°C for 316L stainless steel). The two-phase composition gets further crystallized as the thermal modification temperature rises. As the crystal growth induces the cracks on the fluoridated film, it is very difficult to form a satisfactory passivation film from the two-phase composition by thermal modification. It is confirmed that excellent passivation film has been obtained from the single-phase composition by the optimum fluoridation following the optimum thermal modification  相似文献

A new test structure has been designed to evaluate fluctuations of transistor properties, both within a chip and across a 300-mm wafer. The evaluation system was established with a conventional parametric tester and dc power supplies suitable for application on production lines. It was observed that threshold voltage (V/sub th/) variations increased with the reduction of the channel area. A difference was also observed in the standard deviation (/spl sigma//sub vt/) between NMOS and PMOS. From statistical evaluations, controlling CDs and improving rolloff characteristics were found to be important to reduce V/sub th/ variations.  相似文献

A series of cis-restricted combretastatin analogues with 5-membered heterocycles were synthesized and their inhibitory activity against microtubule assembly and cytotoxic activity against the colon 26 adenocarcinoma cancer cell line were evaluated. Some of the heterocyclic analogues showed potent antitubulin activity and cytotoxicity. Compounds 16 and 35 showed marked tumor growth suppression in the colon 26 murine tumor model.  相似文献
