Novel blood-compatible waterborne polyurethane using chitosan as an extender

A series of novel block polymers of polyurethane (PU) and chitosan have been prepared in two steps. The first step is the preparation of PU prepolymer, obtained from polytetramethylene oxide glycol (PTMO, M_n = 1000), isophrone diisocyanate (IPDI), and 2,2′-dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), followed by ionizing PU prepolymer with triethylamine (TEA). The second step involves PU chain-extended by water-soluble chitosan of low molecular weight (M_n = 5000) by self-emulsion polymerization method. The sizes of the latex particles, morphology, and copolymer architecture have been characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), general tensile test, infrared spectroscopy (IR), surface contact angle measurement, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Furthermore, it shows that the addition of chitosan remarkably increases anticoagulative property of PU elastomers confirmed by the recalcification time. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Comparison of physical characteristics and cell culture test of hydroxyapatite/collagen composite coating on NiTi SMA: electrochemical deposition and chemically biomimetic growth

A hydroxyapatite (HA)/collagen (COL) composite coating on NiTi shape memory alloy (SMA) was prepared by eletrochemical deposition (ELD) in modified simulated body fluid (MSBF). To draw comparisons of physical characteristics and bioactivity of the composite coating, the HA/COL composite coating was also prepared by chemically biomimetic growth (BG) and the ELD coating was re-soaked in MSBF again for further biomimetic growth (called EBG method in this paper). It was indicated that the c-axis of HA crystals was oriented parallel to the longitudinal direction of the COL fibril in BG and EBG coating, which could not found in ELD coating. The EBG method could induce a denser, thicker and better crystallized HA/COL coating. The cell culture test indicated that the BG coating presented better cell biocompatibility.

过渡金属氮化物TinNm小团簇结构中的定域键

Ti、N形成的小团簇TinNm，当n＋m≤4时，一般出现线形和平面构型；当n＋m=5或6时，TinNm团簇异构体既有线形结构，也有平面结构，还有少数立体结构。线形结构大多形成强弱交替的定域键。平面结构中Ti—N键，随着原子数的增加，逐渐从共价键向离子键过渡，Ti失去电子增多，N得到电子也增多。而立体构型中大多形成离域键，验证了Anderson理论。     

Modeling dynamic developable meshes by the Hamilton principle

In this paper, a new dynamic developable surface model is proposed. The proposed model represents developable surfaces using triangle meshes. A novel algorithm is proposed to introduce the Hamilton principle into these meshes such that the resulting developable model is dynamic, i.e., it can offer a time-dependent continuous path to deform the model. Applications with examples are presented; these show that the proposed technique can model buckled developable surfaces well, and can offer physically-realistic animations of deformed developable surfaces.
