Two- and three-dimensional images were obtained by X-ray CT in the reaction product between zircaloy-2 cladding tube and MOX fuel. The gamma-ray intensity distributions in the same specimen were also obtained by gamma-ray measurements of two fission products (Cs-137 and Eu-154) and one neutron-activated nuclide (Co-60). The average values of the fuel density (about 10.5 g/cm3) and the cladding density (about 6.55 g/cm3) were obtained in the metallic phase region by evaluation of the density distributions on two-dimensional X-ray CT images. The distributions of the crushed fuel pellet and the pores were also clearly observed in the three-dimensional X-ray CT images. The following results were found from the gamma-ray measurement. First, Cs-137 was observed in the unreacted fuel region and the pore region in the metallic phase region. Second, Eu-154 was widely distributed to all regions. The aim of this study was to evaluate and optimize preparative parameters for floatable theophylline microspheres prepared by the emulsion–solvent evaporation method. A three-factor three-level Box–Behnken design was employed using amount of poor solvent, temperature-increase rate and drug loading as independent factors, and percentage floating at 3 h and time required for 50% drug release as dependent variables. Simultaneous optimization of the parameters for maximum buoyancy and desirable drug release was conducted using a partitioned artificial neural network. A microsphere using 27.6% of drug loading, 0.29°C/min of temperature-increase rate, and 1.7 mL of poor solvent was identified for maximizing buoyancy and sustaining drug release. 相似文献

The in situ oil sands production method called steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) reuses process wastewater following treatment. However, the treatment and reuse processes concentrate contaminants in the process water. To determine the concentration and dynamics of inorganic and organic contaminants, makeup water and process water from six process steps were sampled at a facility employing the SAGD process in Alberta, Canada. In the groundwater used for the makeup water, the total dissolved organic carbon (DOC) content was 4 mg/L. This significantly increased to 508 mg/L in the produced water, followed by a gradual increase with successive steps in subsequent water treatments. The concentrations and dynamics of DOC constituents in the process water determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry showed that in the produced water, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as acetone (33.1 mg/L) and 2-butanone (13.4 mg/L) predominated, and there were significant amounts of phenolic compounds (total 9.8 mg/L) and organic acids including naphthenic acids (NAs) corresponding to the formula CnH2n+ZOX for combinations of n = 4 to 18, Z = 0 and −2, and X = 2 to 4 (53 mg/L) with trace amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) such as naphthalene and phenanthrene. No organic contaminants, except for saturated fatty acids, were detected in the groundwater. The concentration of DOC in the recycled water was 4.4-fold higher than that in the produced water. Likewise, the total concentrations of phenols and organic acids in the recycled water were 1.7- and 4.5-fold higher than in the produced water, whereas the total concentrations of VOCs and PAHs in the recycled water were reduced by over 80%, suggesting that phenols and organic acids are selectively concentrated in the process water treatment. This comprehensive chemical analysis thus identified organic constituents that were concentrated in the process water and which interfere with subsequent water treatments in the SAGD process. 相似文献

IDDQ testing is an effective method for detecting short faults of CMOS circuits. Since IDDQ testing requires the measurement of current, the testing time of IDDQ testing is longer than that of logical testing. In this paper, we proposed an IDDQ test compaction method for internal short faults of gates in sequential circuits by using the reassignment method of signal values. Urutan is a Balinese traditional dry fermented sausage prepared from lean pork and various kinds of spice. Urutan is different from the European sausages, because it is fermented under warm condition with fluctuating temperatures of approximately 25 degrees C at night to 50 degrees C during sun drying. In this study, two of the 71 strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from natural urutan fermentation were used as starter cultures: Lactobacillus plantarum U201, the dominant LAB, and Pediococcus acidilactici U318, a bacteriocin producer. A soft urutan with yellowish brown color was produced using these strains as multiple starters. The starter cultures grew in characteristic succession which reconstructed the natural fermentation process. Lactobacilli were dominant until 48 h fermentation and pediococci dominated at the later stage of fermentation. Proliferation of starter cultures produced lactic acid which resulted in the decrease in pH and coagulation of soluble protein in urutan. Both strains could eliminate the Enterobacteriaceae in urutan after 24 h fermentation, and could suppress and eliminate the occurrence of micrococci at 120 h fermentation. By using a single starter culture, no succession was observed to occur in urutan and the time of elimination of Enterobacteriaceae was delayed. Thus, the strains of L. plantarum U201 and P. acidilactici U318 have great potential for use as multiple starter cultures in urutan fermentation. 相似文献

Poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), poly(methacrylic acid) (PMA), and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), which have oxygen species as functional groups, were utilized as a binder for graphite electrodes, and the electrochemical reversibility of lithium intercalation was examined in PC medium and ionic liquid electrolyte, lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)amide dissolved in 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)amide (BMP-TFSA). Columbic efficiency of 75–80% with more than 300 mAh g?1 was achieved upon first reduction/oxidation cycle in both electrolytes using these binding polymers, which were significantly improved in comparison to a conventional PVdF binder (less than 45% of columbic efficiency for the first cycle). For the graphite-PVdF electrode, co-intercalation and/or decomposition of PC molecules solvating to Li ions were observed by the electrochemical reduction, resulting in the cracking of graphite particles. In contrast, the co-intercalation and decomposition of PC molecules and BMP cations for the first reduction process were completely suppressed for the graphite electrodes prepared with the polymers containing oxygen atoms. It was proposed that the selective permeability of lithium ions was attained by the uniform coating of the graphite particles with PAA, PMA, and PVA polymers, because the electrostatic interaction between the positively charged lithium ions and negatively charged oxygen atom in the polymer should modulate the desolvation process of lithium ions during the lithium intercalation into graphite, showing the similar functions like artificial solid-electrolyte interphase. 相似文献

Azobisisobutyronitlite (AIBN)-induced free radical polymerization of a methacrylate-based ionic liquid monomer, 1-(2-methacryloxyethyl)-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (Met-IL) was carried out in a common organic solvent, N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), and an ionic liquid, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (EMImTFSI). The molecular weight of the obtained poly(Met-IL) was evaluated by transforming it to non-ionic poly(methyl methacrylate) with hydrolysis of the imidazolium-salt-substituted pendant ester groups and methyl esterification. Radical copolymerization with methyl methacrylate (MMA) was also carried out in both DMF and EMImTFSI. Experimental evidence shows that the acceptor-state levels in Sb-doped positive-temperature-coefficient-type BaTiO3 are compensated up to a critical acceptor-state density. Using the slope of the natural logarithm of the resistivity with respect to 1/ T , instead of maximum resistivity as a measure for the acceptor-state density, it is possible to estimate this critical value. The value obtained (4.2 × 1017 m−2 ) is believed to be the first reported estimate based on experimental data. It is in good agreement with the estimate of 6 × 1017 m−2 (first reported by Jonker) obtained from the spontaneous polarization of BaTiO3 . This shows that the ferroelectric behavior of BaTiO3 is indeed a feasible explanation for the low resistivity below the Curie point, as proposed by Jonker. 相似文献
