Polypeptide hydrogels were prepared by cross-linking of hydrophobically-modified poly[N5-(2-hydroxyethyl) l-glutamine] having alkyl side chains –CnH2n+1. Chain length of the alkyl group was n = 8, 16, and 18, and their mole fractions in the polypeptide were varied in the range of 0.05–0.16. Shape memory ability of the prepared polypeptide hydrogels was investigated. After deformation at 60 °C, the hydrogel was cooled in order to fix the temporary deformed shape. It was found that crystallization of the alkyl side chains did not occur, and the fixation ability of the hydrogel at 0 °C was low. In the subsequent heating process, the deformed temporary shape spontaneously recovered to the original shape gradually with increasing temperature, in other words, the shape recovery ratio varied with depending on the recovery temperature. From these observations, it was proposed that the shape fixation of the polypeptide hydrogel was achieved by strong segregation of the hydrophobic alkyl chains at low temperature, and the shape recovery of the deformed hydrogel was accompanied by the gradual decrease of the segregation strength with the temperature increase. 相似文献

In this study, we focus on the intelligent behavior of an octopus and describe the development of a flexible manipulator. To realize the intelligent behavior, we employ sponges, rubbers and wires instead of electrical computers. The manipulator is controlled by the dynamics of the body such as the flexibility of the sponges, resilience of the rubbers and constraint by the wires. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed manipulator, we conducted experiment for grasping various objects. We confirmed that grasping behaviors similar to those of an octopus can be realized by the dynamics of the body without electrical computers. 相似文献

Multilevel converters can essentially reduce harmonics even when their switching frequency is low. Among the various topologies of the multilevel converters, flying capacitor converters are considered to be promising converters for realizing high power density. However, the main circuit of the flying capacitor converters has many capacitors. Autonomous control of vehicles has recently attracted considerable attention. In this sense, vehicle merging has become an important topic in this field of research. However, in conventional studies, the controlled vehicle must calculate the movement of other surrounding vehicles to complete the merge, requiring high computational costs. In this paper, we focus on dragonfly behavior to solve this issue. Indeed, insects can behave adaptively in the complex real world in spite of the limited size of their brains. They reduce the computational requirements of their brain by relying on different properties of their surroundings, basing their intelligent behaviors on simple strategies. The behavior of a dragonfly when chasing a prey is an example of these strategies. In this study, we address the vehicle merging maneuver by applying dragonfly’s strategies to control the movement of the merging vehicle. We propose a simple control method inspired by the aforementioned strategies and, finally, we present simulation results that were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of this method. 相似文献

Ionic liquid/polyvinylidene fluoride composite membrane was successfully prepared by impregnation method and used for the separation on organic chemical hydride process. The separation factors of C6H6/H2 and C6H12/H2 in the ternary mixture system were 7500 and 300, respectively. Sodium laureth sulfate and amino acid type surfactants have been categorized as low‐skin irritation chemicals based on results of previous skin irritation tests. However, detergent‐induced skin irritation still occurs. Detergents with a low‐skin irritation effect are required, since the number of cosmetics for sensitive skin has increased. Therefore, an in vitro method of testing the safety of cosmetics for sensitive skin is required. Skin irritation by anionic surfactants was investigated to determine the effect of laureth‐3 carboxylate (polyoxyethylene lauryl carboxymethyl ether) amino acid salt on skin irritation. In addition, sodium laureth sulfate and amino acid type surfactants, regarded as low‐irritation surfactants, were also tested for skin irritation. The skin irritation effect of laureth‐3 carboxylate lysine salt (Surfactant 1 ), sodium laureth sulfate (Surfactant 2 ), and sodium N‐lauroyl glutamate (Surfactant 3 ) were investigated using a reconstructed human cultured epidermal model, LabCyte EPI‐MODEL24 6D. Cell viabilities of cultured epidermal cells exposed to Surfactant 1 (5.0 % aq.), Surfactant 2 , and Surfactant 3 were 82.0, 45.0 and 19.1 %, respectively. There were significant differences in cell viability upon exposure to 5.0 % aqueous test solutions of the three test chemicals. The results of the current investigation indicate that Surfactant 1 has a low skin‐irritation effect. 相似文献
