The AC losses measurement and analysis of superconducting NbTi CICC for HT-TU superconducting Tokamak

Superconducting TF and PF coils have been measured in SULTAN test facility. Segregated copper strands are included in four NbTi CICC and this is a technical innovation. Two AC losses measurement methods, calorimetric and electromagnetic methods, have been used in the experiments, and a broad frequency range (from 0.05 Hz to 6 Hz) is covered in sample test. The purpose of this experiment was to investigate AC losses of TF and PF CICC conductor including segregated copper and to check the design of PF and TF CICC coated with different resistive barriers (Pb-30Sn-2Sb and Ni plating on NbTi strands).     

Inhibition of NF-KB activity in rabbit vascular smooth muscle cells by lovastatin

Nuclear factor NF-KB is believed to play an important role in regulating the production of matrix met-alloproteinases (MMPs), which induce atherosclerosis, restenosis and plaque rupture. We incubated rabbit vascular smooth muscle cells(RVSMCs)with 5 nmol/L lovastatin in the presence of IL-1-a and PDGFBB (20g/L, respectively) to study whether lovastatin inhibited NF-KB binding activity induced by IL-1 and PDGF. The NF-KB activity was detected by electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA); MMP-1 and MMP-3 were measured by western blotting; and MMP-9 was detected by zymography. The result showed that lovastatin strongly reduced NF-KB activity upregulated by IL-1 combined with PDGF, and lovastatin also dose-dependently inhibited the expression of MMP-1, -3 and -9 induced by IL-1 and PDGF. It suggested that the beneficial effects of statins may extend to mechanisms beyond cholesterol reduction.

Dielectric breakdown of a residual SF6 plasma at 3000 Kunder diatomic equilibrium

A residual plasma at 3000 K and under diatomic equilibrium is left inside an axially blown gas blast SF₆ circuit breaker after the thermal extinction of an arc. The breakdown of such a residual plasma depends on the electron generation and loss mechanisms. Altogether six ionization and chemical reactions relevant to the time scale of breakdown have been taken into account. It has been found that the critical field strength for breakdown is proportional to the pressure and is equal to 2.0 V/(m.Pa). This field strength is in agreement with the experimental results

SYSNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF A NEW COMPOUND K_6Ti_2Nb_(14)O_(42)IN K_2O-TiO_2-Nb_2O_5SYSTEM

A new compound K_6Ti_2Nb_(14)O_(42)was found inthe ternary system K_2O-TiO_2-Nb_2O_5.The compound was char-acterized and investigated by electron,probe,X-ray powderdiffraction and differential thermal analysis.The transpar-ent crystal of light yellow color in form of hexagon-thinplate can be grown by flux method.Further,its crystal struc-ture was determined by four-circle diffratometer K_6Ti_2Nb_(14)O_(42)crystallizes in he(?)(?)(?)onal system with unitcell parameters a=9.1106(5)×10~(-10)m·c=12.0136(9)×10~(-10)m,Z=l andspace.group P6_3/mcm(193).

Analysis,simulation and verification of a bipolar current source power resonant inverter

A high‐frequency bipolar current source resonant inverter introduced in this paper has dramatic zero‐voltage‐switching (ZVS) characteristic. The analytic expressions of the resonant voltage and current are given. It indicates that the resonant waveform is composed of two parts, i.e. the oscillatory component and the stationary component. In special cases, the resonant waveform degenerates into the mono‐frequency component, as presents the graceful sinusoidal wave with very low total harmonic distortion (THD) value. Based on the closed‐form voltage and current, the component stresses on reactive elements are obtained. The impact of different component values and operating frequencies on ZVS feature is also discussed. It should be noted that the ZVS merit may be lost if the components are carelessly selected. The validity of the theoretical analysis has been proven with Pspice simulations and experimental results. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley Sons, Ltd.
