In this study, two different monomers, namely hexafluorobutyl acrylate (HFBA) and diethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DEAEMA) were individually used to modify graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets via environmentally friendly plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method. The results from instrumental analyses confirmed the successful deposition of respective functional material onto the nanomaterials. Modified GOs were used as the nano-fillers to develop composite polyethersulfone (PES) ultrafiltration (UF) membrane with improved surface properties for oily solution treatment. All the developed membranes were characterized with a series of analytical instruments to support the findings of membrane filtration performance. The results indicated that the membrane incorporated with DEAEMA-GOs (coated with hydrophilic polymer) could achieve better results in terms of oil rejection, antifouling resistance and water recovery rate than the membrane incorporated with HFBA-GOs (coated with hydrophobic polymer). This is due to the reduced agglomeration between modified GOs as well as better interaction of hydrophilic-coated GOs with polymer membrane. Compared to the pure water flux of the membrane incorporated with unmodified GO, the membrane incorporated with DEAEMA-GO achieve approximately 85% higher value with oil removal rate remained almost unchanged (98.94% rejection).  相似文献

Abstract

The change-point problem for the noncentral skew t distribution is studied in this article. An approach based on Schwartz information criterion (SIC) is used to detect the changes of the parameters of this distribution. Simulations are conducted to illustrate the performance of the proposed procedure. The method is successfully applied to the stock returns of several Latin American countries.  相似文献

The availability of high time-resolution (1 s full spectrum scan) particle sizers permitted atmospheric researchers to scrutinize the characteristics of ultrafine particles in rapidly varying (perhaps, random) high concentration environments such as roadside, on-road, and tunnels. These data also revealed possible artifacts associated with the slower (~ 30 s or more) scanning sizers when used in this kind of environment. This study discusses sampling rate artifact problems based on simulations using 1 s Engine Exhaust Particle Sizer data taken on a mobile platform.  相似文献

The effects of PE-g-MA as a compatibilizer in binary blends of 70/30 high-density polyethylene/epoxidized natural rubber (HDPE/ENR) have been investigated by means of mechanical analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The special emphasis was given to the role of PE-g-MA in inducing interactions between HDPE and ENR. It has been observed that increasing the amount of PE-g-MA in the blend increases the tensile strength, elongation at break, and impact strength. It is believed that the degree of cross-link increased, which led to improve the interaction between the HDPE and ENR. The optimum stress values are shown in the blend containing 6% PE-g-MA. Scanning electron micrographs (SEM) of the samples also indicated that the addition of compatibilizer decreases the domain size of the dispersed phase. Well-dispersed plastic particles in a rubber matrix were strongly indicated in these samples. The results obtained reveal that the addition of PE-g-MA in HDPE/ENR blend led to an increase in the homogeneity of the blends.  相似文献

This paper discusses a rapid GC-FID technique for the simultaneous quantitative analysis of FFA, MAG, DAG, TAG, sterols, and squalene in vegetable oils, with special reference to palm oil. The FFA content determined had a lower SE compared with a conventional titrimetric method. Squalene and individual sterols, consisting of β-sitosterol, stigmasterol, campesterol, and cholesterol, were accurately quantified without any losses. This was achieved through elimination of tedious conventional sample pretreatments, such as saponification and preparative TLC. With this technique, the separation of individual MAG, consisting of 16∶0, 18∶0, and 18∶1 FA, and the DAG species, consisting of the 1,2(2,3)- and 1,3-positions, was sufficient to enable their quantification. This technique enabled the TAG to be determined according to their carbon numbers in the range of C44 to C56. Comparisons were made with conventional methods, and the results were in good agreement with those reported in the literature.  相似文献

Recently ionic liquids(ILs) are introduced as novel dual function gas hydrate inhibitors. However, no desired gas hydrate inhibition has been reported due to poor IL selection and/or tuning method. Trial error as well as selection based on existing literature are the methods currently employed for selecting and/or tuning ILs. These methods are probabilistic, time consuming, expensive and may not result in selecting high performance ILs for gas hydrate mitigation. In this work, COSMO-RS is considered as a prescreening tool of ILs for gas hydrate mitigation by predicting the hydrogen bonding energies(E_(HB)) of studied IL inhibitors and comparing the predicted E_(HB) to the depression temperature(?) and induction time. Results show that, predicted EHBand chain length of ILs strongly relate and significantly affect the gas hydrate inhibition depression temperature but correlate moderately(R = 0.70) with average induction time in literature. It is deduced from the results that, ? increases with increasing IL EHBand/or decreases with increasing chain length. However, the cation–anion pairing of ILs also affects IL gas hydrate inhibition performance. Furthermore, a visual and better understanding of IL/water behavior for gas hydrate inhibition in terms of hydrogen bond donor and acceptor interaction analysis is also presented by determining the sigma profile and sigma potential of studied IL cations and anions used for gas hydrate mitigation for easy IL selection.  相似文献

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic multi-organ autoimmune disease characterized by hyperactivated immune responses to self-antigens and persistent systemic inflammation. Previously, we reported abnormalities in circulating and bone marrow (BM)-derived plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) from SLE patients. Here, we aim to seek for potential regulators that mediate functional aberrations of pDCs in SLE. BM-derived pDCs from NZB/W F1 mice before and after the disease onset were compared for toll-like receptor (TLR) induced responses and microRNA profile changes. While pDCs derived from symptomatic mice were phenotypically comparable to pre-symptomatic ones, functionally they exhibited hypersensitivity to TLR7 but not TLR9 stimulation, as represented by the elevated upregulation of CD40, CD86 and MHC class II molecules upon R837 stimulation. Upregulated induction of miR-155 in symptomatic pDCs following TLR7 stimulation was observed. Transfection of miR-155 mimics in pre-symptomatic pDCs induced an augmented expression of Cd40, which is consistent with the increased CD40 expression in symptomatic pDCs. Overall, our results provide evidence for miR-155-mediated regulation in pDC functional abnormalities in SLE. Findings from this study contribute to a better understanding of SLE pathogenesis and ignite future interests in evaluating the molecular regulation in autoimmunity.  相似文献

In this article we use fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) to investigate how a classic coalescing aid, such as 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate (Texanol?) (TX), acts on the earliest stages of polymer diffusion as the latex film is still drying. In our approach, we temporarily arrest the drying process of a partially wet latex film by sealing it in an airtight chamber previously cooled to near the latex Tg. At these conditions, we are able to effectively stop the drying process and the polymer diffusion. FRET measurements at various locations on such a sample provide us information about the mechanism operating at the initial stages of polymer diffusion as the latex film is still drying. We complete our study with FRET measurements carried out at longer aging times on predried latex films. We analyze our diffusion data in terms of free volume theory and propose a mechanism that can account for the results obtained.  相似文献

Nanocomposites based on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and exfoliated graphite nanoplate (xGnP) were prepared by solution precipitation method. The resulting nanocomposites were investigated with respect to their structure and properties by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction, and dynamic mechanical analysis. Both SEM and TEM examinations confirmed the good dispersion of xGnP in the PVDF matrix. The nonisothermal crystallization behavior of the PVDF/xGnP nanocomposites was studied using DSC technique at various cooling rates. The results indicated that the xGnPs in nanometer size might act as nucleating agents and accelerated the overall nonisothermal crystallization process. Meanwhile, the incorporation of xGnP significantly improved the storage modulus of the PVDF/xGnP nanocomposites. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2011  相似文献
