Magneto-transport measurements have been performed on La0.67Sr0.33Mn1−xFexO3 (= 0.0, 0.05 and 0.07) manganites synthesized by solid state route. The overall nature of AC susceptibility is found to be frequency independent. With the substitution of Mn by Fe, the transport properties dramatically change suppressing the double-exchange interaction. This in turn weakens the ferromagnetism and consequently decreases the paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition temperature (Tc). However, DC electrical resistivity of the samples show board hump at metal-insulator transition temperature (TMI) in contrary with sharp transition at Tc and TMI Tc indicating decoupling of electrical and magnetic properties. Resistivity behavior of these samples can be well explained by the consideration of bond percolation model which is basically developed from effective approximation method.  相似文献

Existing buildings present the best opportunity for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in developed economies, given that only 2–3% of the building stock is newly built each year. Insights from a post-occupancy evaluation of a large-scale refurbishment project of a head office building in Sydney, Australia, are presented to inform future refurbishment strategies. The study evaluates occupant satisfaction and energy performance, and elicits influencing factors arising from the design process and interventions, ongoing building management, and operational performance. Occupants returned a high level of satisfaction across the range of environmental variables for overall comfort, temperature, lighting, and air quality as well as perceived productivity and health. These outcomes highlight the importance of improving indoor environmental quality for occupants particularly through increased fresh air, daylight, glare control, access to views, and noise management. The positive results reinforce the value of an integrated and user-responsive approach that was adopted for building design, development, and management. The reduction in operational energy (in this project, coupled with carbon reduction) as a consequence of refurbishment and positive user feedback demonstrates the potential to future-proof existing buildings in the context of climate change.

Les bâtiments existants offrent la meilleure possibilité de réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre dans les économies développées, étant donné que les constructions neuves ne représentent chaque année que 2 à 3% du parc bâti. Les enseignements retirés d'une évaluation après occupation d'une opération de rénovation à grande échelle réalisée dans l'immeuble d'un siège social de Sydney, en Australie, sont présentés afin d'infléchir les futures stratégies en matière de rénovation. L'étude évalue la satisfaction des occupants et les performances énergétiques, et met au jour les facteurs d'influence qui découlent du processus de conception et des interventions réalisées, de la gestion en cours du bâtiment et des performances de fonctionnement. Les occupants ont exprimé un degré de satisfaction élevé sur l'ensemble des variables environnementales concernant le confort global, la température, l'éclairage et la qualité de l'air, aussi bien que la productivité et la santé telles qu'ils les ont perçues. Ces résultats mettent en évidence le fait qu'il est important d'améliorer la qualité environnementale intérieure pour les occupants, tout particulièrement en apportant davantage d'air frais et de lumière du jour, un plus grand contrôle de l'éblouissement, un accès accru à des panoramas et une gestion renforcée du bruit. Ces résultats positifs renforcent l'utilité d'une approche intégrée et sensible aux besoins des utilisateurs, telle qu'elle a été adoptée pour concevoir, aménager et gérer ce bâtiment. La réduction de l'énergie de fonctionnement (dans cette opération, conjointement avec la réduction du carbone) en conséquence de la rénovation et du feedback positif des utilisateurs démontre le potentiel de cette approche pour permettre aux bâtiments existants de bien affronter l'avenir dans le contexte du changement climatique.

This study surveyed the presence of bacterial pathogens in eight Swedish sewage treatment plants (STPs), with four different treatment methods, focusing on detection of zoonotic bacteria in raw and treated sludge. Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Campylobacter coli and jejuni, Escherichia coli O157 and indicator bacteria were investigated. Samplings were performed from July 2000 to June 2002, resulting in 64 raw sludge samples and 69 treated sludge samples. The samples from raw sludge (67%) and treated sludge (55%) were positive for Salmonella; 49 different serotypes were detected. Restriction enzyme analysis and pulsed field gel electrophoresis of Salmonella serotypes indicated that Salmonella persists in STPs and that there is a continuous supply of new strains. There are differences in treatment methods concerning the reduction of pathogens and indicator bacteria. If spread on arable land, sludge increases the environmental load of pathogens; this increases the risk for spreading diseases to people and animals.  相似文献

This article is an interesting substrate material for environmental-friendly printable electronics. In this study, screen-printed RFID tags on paper substrate are examined. Their reliability was tested with low temperature, high temperature, slow temperature cycling, high temperature and high humidity and water dipping test. Environmental stresses affect the tag antenna impedance, losses and radiation characteristics due to their impact on the ink film and paper substrate. Low temperature, temperature cycling and high humidity did not have a radical effect on the measured parameters: threshold power, backscattered signal power or read range of the tags. However, the frequency response and the losses of the tags were slightly affected. Exposure to high temperature was found to even improve the tag performance due to the positive effect of high temperature on the ink film. The combined high humidity and high temperature had the most severe effect on the tag performance. The threshold power increased, backscattered power decreased and the read range was shortened. On the whole, the results showed that field use of these tags in high, low and changing temperature conditions and high humidity conditions is possible. Use of these tags in combined high-humidity and high-temperature conditions should be carefully considered.  相似文献

The effect of substituting K2O for Na2O on the physical and chemical properties of 15 glasses in the system Na2O–K2O–CaO–P2O5–SiO2 was studied for three series: low (52 mol% SiO2), medium (60 mol% SiO2) and high (66 mol% SiO2) silica. The SiO2 content expressed as weight-% varied from 46 to 64 wt%, thus suggesting that the compositions were either bioactive or biocompatible. The crystallization tendency and sintering behavior were studied using differential thermal analysis and hot stage microscopy. Formation of silica- and hydroxy-apatite-rich layers were studied for glass plates immersed in static simulated body fluid. The release of inorganic ions into Tris buffer solution was analyzed using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer in dynamic and static conditions. Substitution of K2O for Na2O suggested mixed alkali effect (MAE) for the thermal properties with a minimum value around 25% substitution. With increased share of K2O in total alkali oxides, the hot working window markedly expanded in each series. Silica and hydroxyapatite layers were seen only on the low silica glasses, while a thin silica-rich layer formed on the other glasses. In each series, greater dissolution of alkali and alkali earth ions was seen from K-rich glasses. Clear MAE and preferential ion dissolution were recorded for medium and high silica series, while for low silica glasses, the initial MAE dissolution trends become rapidly covered by other simultaneous surface reactions. MAE enables designing especially low silica bioactive glasses for improved hot working properties and medium and high silica glasses for controlled dissolution.  相似文献

With the chromatic length aberration (CLA) technique, imaging of surfaces with complex three dimensional geometry is possible. Analysis of sample sizes in micro or nanometer scale is an added advantage available with CLA system. This article describes the methodology adopted for establishing the CLA technique for characterizing selected ceramic/ceramic coated substrates used in cardiovascular and orthopedic applications. The measurement of surface finish and coating thickness were validated against benchmarked technologies based on atomic force microscopy (AFM), stylus profilometry and standard ball cratering methods. Results of measurements were statistically analyzed by Student t test and reported the two tail p values to compare the results from different measurements techniques.  相似文献

The literature on upper limb musculoskeletal disorders (UL-MSD) in different groups of healthcare workers was reviewed: 65 relevant studies were collected. In dentists, the neck was the most frequently affected segment, with prevalences up to 73% and exceeding 50% in 7 out of 12 studies. In dental hygienists and in laboratory technicians, the hand/wrist had the highest prevalence in the majority of the studies. In nurses, the most seriously affected anatomic sites were the neck and shoulders. Physiotherapists had the lowest prevalence of UL-MSD. A high prevalence of upper limb disease, mainly carpal tunnel syndrome, was reported in dentists, dental hygienists, anesthesia nurses and endoscopists. The high prevalence of upper limb disorders/diseases reported in health personnel supports the hypothesis of a significant risk in these workers. However, the possible role of biomechanical overload, as much as that of stress or other personal factors, cannot be currently assessed.

Practitioner Summary: Published studies support the hypothesis of a significant risk of upper limb musculoskeletal disorders in healthcare activities. The neck was the most frequently affected segment in dentists, the hand/wrist in dental hygienists and in laboratory technicians, and the neck and shoulders in nurses. Lower prevalence was reported in physiotherapists. A high prevalence of carpal tunnel syndrome was also observed in various healthcare activities.  相似文献

A method to capture the scale-dependent features in a random signal is proposed with the main focus on images and spatial fields defined on a regular grid. A technique based on scale space smoothing is used. However, while the usual scale space analysis approach is to suppress detail by increasing smoothing progressively, the proposed method instead considers differences of smooths at neighboring scales. A random signal can then be represented as a sum of such differences, a kind of a multiresolution analysis, each difference representing details relevant at a particular scale or resolution. Bayesian analysis is used to infer which details are credible and which are just artifacts of random variation. The applicability of the method is demonstrated using noisy digital images as well as global temperature change fields produced by numerical climate prediction models.  相似文献

In the present study, a new technique to synthesize composites of poly(methyl methacrylate) cerium molybdate (PMMA–CeMoO4) is reported. The study concerns the characterization of poly(methyl methacrylate; PMMA) and PMMA–CeMoO4 nanocomposites are also discussed. The physical properties of the material were described using TGA–DTA, FTIR, X‐ray, TEM, and SEM studies. The adsorption efficiency towards heavy metal ions was determined by distribution studies and material was found to be highly selective for lead, a heavy toxic metal ion, indicating the utility of the synthesized material for the removal of this ion from the waste stream. The material was used as electroactive component for the construction of an ion‐selective membrane electrode. The membrane electrode was mechanically stable, having wide dynamic range, with quick response time and could be operated for at least 5 months without any considerable divergence in the potential response characteristics. The aim of this study was to evaluate use of infrared spectroscopy for measuring adipose tissue triacylglycerols (TAGs) with analysis by multivariate curve resolution (MCR). The mid‐infrared spectrum was measured with an attenuated total reflection accessory from a lipid droplet pressed from adipose tissue. The obtained spectra were characteristic of pure TAG spectra and water and protein contamination could be easily identified from specific spectral regions. MCR analysis of the olefinic (?C? H) stretch (3006 cm?1), resolved the different contributions of monounsaturated (MUFA) and polyunsaturated (PUFA) double bonds. Similar MCR analysis of the trans (HC?CH? ) region (966 cm?1), resolved the differing contributions of isolated trans isomers (transFA) and CLA. The PUFA double bond content of 16 subjects was negatively correlated with concentrations of serum total cholesterol R = ?0.498 (p = 0.050) and triacylglycerols R = ?0.609, (p = 0.016). The transFA content exhibited a negative, although non‐significant, correlation to high‐density lipoprotein (HDL)‐cholesterol (R = ?0.483, p = 0.068). The present study shows that MCR analysis of adipose tissue TAG infrared spectra can be used to estimate differences in the fatty acid (FA) profiles in population studies. Infrared spectroscopy in combination with MCR provides a robust method for assessing a FA profile of human adipose tissue. Practical applications: This study has highlighted the use of MCR to enhance the information obtained from infrared spectra.
