Addendum to: generic rules to evaluate system-failure frequency

In the paper on Generic rules to evaluate system-failure frequency, (see ibid., vol.49, p.85-7, 2000) the authora did not consider the case of shorter mission times while presenting the rules to evaluate system-failure frequency. Time-specific failure-frequency calculations are required for the systems with shorter mission times. One of the practical uses of time-specific failure-frequency is in finding reasonably accurate estimates of failure-rate and reliability of large systems consisting of repairable components, by using combinatorial methods (without using Markov models). This paper shows that, with some minor modifications, the rules in the original paper for evaluating steady-state failure-frequency can be used to find the time-specific failure-frequency

Fast integration of reactor-kinetic equations in problems with large perturbations of the reactivity

Conclusions The method proposed for integrating the point-kinetics equations of a reactor, has a series of positive qualities ensuring its effective application in problems of the numerical analysis of the emergency dynamics of nuclear-power plants with deep perturbations of the reactivity. Its advantages include:simplicity of the programs executing the computational algorithms (the calculation is based on explicit formulas);the presence of an automatic regulator of the computation step;high speed (the number of operations in calculations at the step is comparable with the analogous characteristic of the Euler method).Translated from Atomnaya Énergiya, Vol. 67, No. 4, pp. 246–251, October, 1989.     

Phase interaction in composite materials Zr-Mo,W

Conclusions Composite materials based on the thermodynamically unstable systems Zr-Mo and Zr-W have satisfactory kinetic stability of the structure up to 1373°K. At higher temperatures there occurs intense interaction between fibers and matrix entailingthe formation of solid solutions and intermetallic phases. The course of the diffusion processes in the investigated CM is determined by the history of their components, and this makes it possible to a certain extent to control these processes by corresponding preliminary thermomechanical treatment of the components.Translated from Poroshkovaya Metallurgiya, No. 12(300), pp. 40–44, December, 1987.     

A specification language for the processing of technical-economic indicators

The paper describes a specification language for the processing of records with technical—economic content in distributed control systems. The principles of the specification language are close to logic languages and to data-structure oriented languages.
