Preparation and properties of compatibilized PVC/SMA‐g‐PA6 blends

The morphology and mechanical properties of PVC/SMA‐g‐PA6 blends were investigated in this paper. Graft to polymer SMA‐g‐PA6 was prepared via a solution graft reaction between SMA and PA6. FTIR test evidences the occurrence of the graft reaction between SMA and PA6. DSC analysis shows that SMA‐g‐PA6 has a lower melting point of 187°C, which may result in a decrease in crystallinity of PA6 and thus enable efficient blending of SMA‐g‐PA6 and PVC. Compatibilization was evidenced by the dramatic increase in mechanical properties, the smaller particle size and finer dispersion of PA6 in PVC matrix, and, further, a cocontinuous morphology at 16 wt % SMA‐g‐PA6 content. A high propylene productivity over B2O3/SiO2@honeycomb cordierite catalyst for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane

Boron-based metal-free catalysts for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane (ODHP) have drawn great attention in both academia and industry due to their impressive activity and olefin selectivity. Herein, the SiO₂ and B₂O₃ sequentially coated honeycomb cordierite catalyst is designed by a two-step wash-coat method with different B₂O₃ loadings (0.1%–10%) and calcination temperatures (600, 700, 800 °C). SiO₂ obtained by TEOS hydrolysis acts as a media layer to bridge the cordierite substrate and boron oxide via abundant SiOH groups. The well-developed straight channels of honeycomb cordierite make it possible to carry out the reactor under high gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) and the thin wash-coated B₂O₃ layer can effectively facilitate the pore diffusion on the catalyst. The prepared B₂O₃/SiO₂@HC monolithic catalyst exhibits good catalytic performance at low boron oxide loading and achieves excellent propylene selectivity (86.0%), olefin selectivity (97.6%, propylene and ethylene) and negligible CO₂ (0.1%) at 16.9% propane conversion under high GHSV of 345,600 ml·(g B₂O₃)⁻¹·h⁻¹, leading to a high propylene space time yield of 15.7 g C₃H₆·(g B₂O₃)⁻¹·h⁻¹ by suppressing the overoxidation. The obtained results strongly indicate that the boron-based monolithic catalyst can be properly fabricated to warrant the high activity and high throughput with its high gas/surface ratio and straight channels.     

大掺量粉煤灰高性能混凝土的研究

本文从高分散性表面活性剂显著影响粉煤灰的形态效应而大幅降低混凝土用水量的角度出发,利用复合激发剂激发粉煤灰的火山灰效应,结合粉煤灰自身的微集料效应提高混凝土强度的技术手段,探讨了大掺量粉煤灰在混凝土中的应用,分析了高分散性表面活性剂与复合激发剂的组合对大掺量粉煤灰混凝土的作用机理。     

Polyaniline for corrosion prevention of mild steel coupled with copper

Polyaniline emeraldine base/epoxy resin (EB/ER) coating was investigated for corrosion protection of mild steel coupled with copper in 3.5% NaCl solution. EB/ER coating with 5-10 wt% EB had long-term corrosion resistance on both uncoupled steel and copper due to the passivation effect of EB on the metal surfaces. During the 150 immersion days, the impedance at 0.1 Hz for the coating increased in the first 1-40 days and subsequently remained constant above 10⁹ Ω cm², whereas that for pure ER coating fell below 10⁶ Ω cm² after only 30 or 40 days. Immersion tests on coated steel-copper galvanic couple showed that EB/ER coating offered 100 times more protection than ER coating against steel dissolution and coating delamination on copper, which was mainly attributed to the passive metal oxide films formed by EB blocking both the anodic and cathodic reactions. Salt spray tests showed that 100 μm EB/ER coating protected steel-copper couple for at least 2000 h.

Novel tin‐coupled star‐shaped medium vinyl butadiene rubber. I. Arm number and its effect on properties

To achieve low rolling resistance, high wet grip, and favorable overall performance, star‐shaped medium vinyl butadiene rubber (S‐MVBR) was designed and prepared by “core‐first” method, where novel multifunctional organolithium containing Sn atom as initiator, THF as structure regulator, and carbon–hydrogen compound as solvent. The results showed that coupling reaction between SnCl₄ and dilithium is stoichiometrical, and this method has much higher efficiency than the “arm‐first” method. When dilithium is composed of 4–10 repeating units, the average arm number of S‐MVBR is conveniently controlled between 3 and 5 by initiator functionality, which can be easily regulated by the mole ratio of active lithium of dilithium short chain to Cl^? in SnCl₄. As Sn coupling decreases numbers of noncrosslinking free ends, S‐MVBR has lower rolling resistance, dynamic heating and higher wet grip than linear MVBR. Meanwhile, mechanical properties and processing properties are improved. And the formation of multiarm structure has little effect on viscosity. S‐MVBR with arm number of 3.8 has optimal overall performance. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 104: 3917–3923, 2007
