Cost reduction without loss of quality is a key factor during the development of engineering materials. This is particularly true for oxide fibers, which can represent up to 70 % of the real cost of all-oxide ceramic matrix composites (OCMC). Therefore, the objective of this work is to produce and evaluate OCMCs based on novel low-cost Nextel? 610 fiber fabrics with deniers of 3000?20,000. Experiments were divided into fiber and composite characterizations. In general, fiber bundles with higher denier show lower apparent strength; although fiber characteristic strength is very similar for bundles with denier below 4500. Composite characterization showed that certain properties, such as tensile strength, are in accordance to the measured fiber characteristic strength. Other properties like interlaminar shear strength and notch sensitivity did not depend on the type of fabric used. In summary, composites with the new fiber fabrics were successfully produced, showing properties similar to commercially available OCMCs.  相似文献

Different amounts (50-170 php--parts per hundred parts of EVA, 33-63 wt%) of two tackifiers (hydrogenated rosin ester, polyterpene resin) were added to an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer containing 28 wt% vinyl acetate. The EVA and the tackifier were characterized using infrared (IR) spectroscopy, DSC measurements, and stress-controlled plate-plate rheology. The properties and compatibility of the EVA-tackifier mixtures were studied using DSC, DMTA, and stress-controlled plate-plate rheology. Immediate adhesion was measured as a quantification of tack, and the T-peel strength of roughened styrene-butadiene rubber/EVA-tackifier adhesive joints was also obtained. The increase in the amount of tackifier noticeably changed the crystallinity of polyethylene blocks in the EVA, and the temperature at the cross-over between the curves of the storage and loss moduli as a function of the temperature was displaced to a lower value. Whereas the hydrogenated rosin ester was compatible with the amorphous ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer regions of the EVA (Tg value increased) reducing its crystallinity, the polyterpene resin was compatible with the polyethylene blocks of the EVA (T g value was not modified), increasing its crystallinity. Immediate adhesion of the EVA-tackifier mixtures was improved by adding both hydrogenated rosin ester and polyterpene tackifiers. On the other hand, there was an optimum tackifier content at which the maximum T-peel strength value was obtained.  相似文献

This article reports an amperometric glucose biosensor based on a new type of nanocomposite of polypyrrole (PPY) with p-phenyl sulfonate-functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs-PhSO3). An environmentally friendly functionalization procedure of the SWCNTs in the presence of substituted aniline and an oxidative species was adopted. The nanocomposite-modified electrode exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activities towards the reduction or oxidation of H2O2. This feature allowed us to use it as bioplatform on which glucose oxidase (GOx) was immobilized by entrapment in an electropolymerized PPY/SWCNTs-PhSO3 film for the construction of the glucose biosensor. The amperometric detection of glucose was assayed by applying a constant electrode potential value necessary to oxidize or reduce the enzymatically produced H2O2 with minimal interference from the possible coexisting electroactive compounds. With the introduction of a thin film of Prussian blue (PB) at the substrate electrode surface, the PPY/GOx/SWCNTs-PhSO3/PB system shows synergy between the PB and functionalized SWCNTs which amplifies greatly the electrode sensitivity when operated at low potentials. The biosensor showed good analytical performances in terms of low detection (0.01 mM), high sensitivity (approximately 6 μA mM−1 cm−2), and wide linear range (0.02 to 6 mM). In addition, the effects of applied potential, the electroactive interference, and the stability of the biosensor were discussed. The facile procedure of immobilizing GOx used in the present work can promote the development of other oxidase-based biosensors which could have a practical application in clinical, food, and environmental analysis.  相似文献

The effect of methyl jasmonate postharvest application on the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of strawberry fruits was evaluated. Results showed that the methyl jasmonate treated strawberry extract had higher antioxidant activity and suppresses the nitrite production in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 murine macrophages. The HPLC profiles of both treated and untreated strawberry extracts were compared. To evaluate which compounds are responsible of these higher activities it was also investigated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacities of the hexane, chloroform, EtOAc, and n-butanol fractions obtained from the methyl jasmonate treated strawberry. The EtOAc and n-butanol fractions exhibited the most potent antioxidant activity compared to the hexane and chloroform fractions. In addition the n-butanol fraction was able to decrease nitrite production. The EtOAc and n-butanol fractions were analyzed by LC–MS. These results showed that methyl jasmonate promotes antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of strawberry fruits by the stimulation of phenolic compounds and anthocyanins production.  相似文献

The preparation of a regioregular trimethylsilanyloxydecyl 3-substituted polythiophene and its conversion to the corresponding hydroxydecyl polymer, which is soluble in common organic solvents, is described both in solution and in film. The chromic behaviour of the hydroxy functionalized polymer was investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy in different solvent/non-solvent mixtures and in the solid state by exposing the polymer adsorbed on hydroxylic matrices to methanol vapours.  相似文献

Commercial polyetheretherketone (Victrex PEEK) was sulfonated up to 90% degree of sulfonation (DS), then reacted with SiCl4 to obtain a hybrid polymer. The product was characterized by 29Si NMR and ATR/FTIR spectroscopies demonstrating the formation of covalent bonds between the organic and inorganic components. No dispersed inorganic silicon was present in the product as evidenced by the lack of any resonance at δ<−100 ppm. Despite the high DS the physicochemical properties of the hybrid were suitable for the preparation of membranes exhibiting high and stable conductivity values (10−2 S/cm), hence suitable for application as ion exchange membrane.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of word stress location in neglect dyslexia. An assessment was made of stress assignment in reading Italian words in 13 patients with neglect dyslexia and 13 matched normal individuals. The correspondence in stress location between target and neglect errors was preserved in 9 patients. Moreover, the proportion of words with stress on the penultimate syllable was about 50% and that on the antepenultimate syllable was also about 50%. This pattern is significantly different from the distribution observed in the Italian lexicon, in which the majority of polysyllabic words are stressed on the penultimate syllable. This result cannot be expected from the application of a "regularization" strategy associated with the operation of a nonlexical reading pathway. Taken together, these findings lead to the conclusion that lexical stress is part of the lexical information preserved in neglect dyslexia. Studies demonstrating recognition deficits with aging often use tasks in which subjects have an incentive to correctly encode or retrieve the experimental stimuli. In contrast to these tasks, which may engage strategic encoding and retrieval processes, the visual paired comparison (VPC) task measures spontaneous eye movements made toward a novel as compared with familiar stimulus. In the present study, seven rhesus macaques aged 6 to 30 years exhibited a dramatic age-dependent decline in preference for a novel image compared with one presented seconds earlier. The age effect could not be accounted for by memory deficits alone, because it was present even when familiarization preceded test by 1 second. It also could not be explained by an encoding deficit, because the effect persisted with increased familiarity of the sample stimulus. Reduced novelty preference did correlate with eye movement variables, including reaction time distributions and saccade frequency. At long delay intervals (24 or 48 hours) aging was paradoxically associated with increased novelty preference. Formation of lactulose, furosine, galactosyl-|*beta*|-pyranone and lysinoalanine was studied in UHT milk samples produced by either direct or indirect heating on industrial plants and by indirect heating on a pilot plant. In particular, the effects of severe sterilization conditions, different proportions of milk recirculation, and storage of the finished product (23 °C for up to 90 days) have been investigated on the levels of the above molecules in UHT milk. An extensive increase of the values of all the indicators occurred when severe heat process was applied, but no direct relation was found between their levels and the nominal time–temperature conditions. Lactulose and furosine levels confirmed to be strictly correlated in UHT milk. In case of overheating or high proportion (60%) of milk recirculation, galactosyl-|*beta*|-pyranone formation was strongly enhanced, proving that also the advanced Maillard reaction takes place extensively, which is not detected by furosine value. Formation of lysinoalanine in UHT drinking milk on storage was pointed out for the first time. Lysinoalanine proved to be the most sensitive index of storage conditions among the four parameters studied. Data suggest that a realistic defence of UHT milk quality can be achieved only by fixing upper limits to heat damage parameters. Besides avoiding unjustified milk overheating, this approach may allow manipulations, like reprocessing expired milk, to be pointed out.  相似文献

The relationship between thermal stability changes and functionality loss was monitored in hake muscle fillets stored for 40 weeks at ?10 and ?30 °C. The evolution of changes in apparent viscosity, dimethylamine formation and extractability of muscle proteins in NaCl, sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) or SDS plus mercaptoethanol showed drastic differences as a function of temperature. At the higher storage temperature, both myosin heavy chain and collagen were the most severely unextracted in salt and SDS solutions, with actin becoming unextractable at the end of storage. Differential scanning calorimetry showed differences with storage time and temperature in both onset temperature and thermal denaturation enthalpy, mostly affecting the myosin transitions. Some protein denaturation occurred with little or no functionality loss. A considerably high fraction of hake muscle proteins remained in the native‐like condition even at the higher frozen storage temperature. In these conditions both apparent viscosity and myosin and actin extractability in NaCl were very low. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
