In clay nanocomposites, the specific interface area is the key factor determining potential improvements of properties. Nevertheless, in most systematic studies of nanocomposites little emphasis is put on assuring and characterizing dispersion quality. To probe the influence of dispersion quality, we compare nanocomposites filled with two layered silicates which were made by melt compounding and solution blending, respectively. Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is chosen here as a thermoplastic model matrix which was compounded with a synthetic nano-mica (O-hect) and commercial Bentone with typical diameters of 5–7 μm and <300 nm, respectively.  相似文献

A comparative photocatalytic analysis was carried out on TiO2 made in a Flame Spray Pyrolysis (FSP) process and flame-made Degussa P25. Both have similar crystallinity, phase composition, phase segregation and a non-porous surface. Hence comparison was made based on their difference in specific surface area, organic adsorption and the amount of OH• generated upon illumination. The photocatalytic activity tests were carried out using the following series of organic compounds: sucrose, glucose, fructose, maleic acid, glyoxylic acid, oxalic acid, isobutyric acid, phenol and methanol. FSP-made TiO2 outperformed P25 for saccharides mineralisation, while for phenol and methanol mineralisation P25 was better than FSP-made TiO2. Similar mineralisation rates were observed for both FSP-made and P25 TiO2 for the mineralisation of carboxylic acids. This shows that the relative performance of the photocatalysts depends on the type of organic compounds to be degraded. The high surface area and possibly a more efficient interfacial charge transfer of FSP-made TiO2 provided an efficient pathway for saccharides mineralisation. As for phenol and methanol, the mineralisation rates were higher when using P25 due to the greater amount of OH• radicals generated by this photocatalyst. The fast mineralisation rates of carboxylic acids made degradation of these organic compounds to be less affected by the TiO2 photocatalyst properties and conditions tested in this work.  相似文献

The electrodiffusion method has been used in fluid dynamic research for the past 50 years. It allows the measurement of wall shear stress, a crucial parameter, e.g., for the cleaning of membrane modules used in water filtration. Various authors have published articles dealing with the theory behind this technique. But no paper collects all the knowledge assembled over five decades of application. Here, comprehensive summary of the theory of steady flow, unsteady flow, and transient voltage step experiments is given. Factors influencing the accuracy of the measurements are discussed. Furthermore, a new approach to calibrate the system from voltage step experiments is introduced, and practical issues related to its application in flow measurements are discussed for an exemplary signal response to a near‐wall flow.  相似文献

Thermally conductive polymers offer new possibilities for the heat dissipation in electric and electronic components, for example, by a three‐dimensional shaping of the heat sinks. To face safety regulations, improved fire performance of those components is required. In contrast to unfilled polymers, those materials exhibit an entirely different thermal behavior. To investigate the flammability, a phosphorus flame retardant was incorporated into thermally conductive composites of polyamide 6 and hexagonal boron nitride. The flame retardant decreased the thermal conductivity only slightly. However, the burning behavior changed significantly, due to a different heat propagation, which was investigated using a thermographic camera. An optimum content of hexagonal boron nitride for a sufficient thermal conductivity and fire performance was found between 20 and 30 vol%. The improvement of the fire performance was due to a faster heat release out of the pyrolysis zone and an earlier decomposition of the flame retardant. For higher contents of hexagonal boron nitride, the heat was spread faster within the part, promoting an earlier ignition and increasing the decomposition rate of the flame retardant.  相似文献

Conventional asymptotic and bootstrap methods for finite-order autoregressive models condition on the estimated lag order of the model as though it were known to be the true lag order. Even if the order is estimated correctly, this procedure ignores the sampling uncertainty about the lag order estimate and may result in spurious inferences. In this paper an appropriately modified bootstrap algorithm is introduced that reflects the true extent of sampling uncertainty in the regression estimates. This endogenous lag order bootstrap algorithm recognizes that lag order selection is an integral part of the sampling procedure by re-estimating the lag order in each bootstrap iteration. It is suggested that the endogenous lag order bootstrap algorithm should routinely replace the standard bootstrap algorithm in applications. Monte Carlo simulations show that ignoring lag order uncertainty may seriously undermine the coverage accuracy of bootstrap confidence intervals for vector autoregression impulse response estimates. Endogenizing the lag order choice is shown to improve coverage accuracy in small samples at negligible additional computational cost. As the lag order uncertainty declines in large samples, the performance of the endogenous lag order interval converges to that of the standard interval.  相似文献

Single-wall carbon nanotubes can be doped, or intercalated, with electron donors or acceptors, similar to graphite and some conjugated polymers. The resulting materials show many of the same features: enhanced electrical conductivity, conduction electron paramagnetism, partial or complete reversibility, and cyclability. Reactions may be carried out in vapor or liquid phase, or electrochemically. Structural information is sketchy at best, due to the limited quality of currently available materials and solvent-related effects. Recent developments in coagulation-based fiber extrusion and partially aligned materials offer new opportunities for novel material modifications by chemical doping.  相似文献

Wet filament winding technology has been extensively used for the manufacture of rotationally symmetric parts made of fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP). As the design and modeling of FRP-parts require numerous assumptions, deviations between calculated and achieved mechanical properties are expected. One aspect that contributes to this discrepancy is the assumption of a homogeneous rectangular cross-section of the fiber-band. In this work, the fiber-band geometry in a wet-winding process of carbon fiber cylinders is analyzed. An Infrared-optical system for the detection of the fiber bandwidth and winding-angle is implemented. The influence of the winding speed and the resin temperature is analyzed. An image processing algorithm for the automatic measurement of the fiber's bandwidth and winding-angle is developed. Manual and adaptive gamma corrections are implemented to improve image quality. A parameter study for the suitable selection of image processing parameters is performed.  相似文献
