Exact knowledge of natural gas composition is essential in custody transfer to determine the energy content of the delivery. However, for liquefied natural gas (LNG), a reliable composition determination is difficult. Here, we describe the design of a laboratory-scale reference liquefier that enables the validation and calibration of optical spectroscopy sensors by providing them with a sample of metrologically traceable composition. Hence, it is crucial to avoid fractionation of the sample during liquefaction. This is realized by supercritical liquefaction of a reference gas mixture in conjunction with a special vapor–liquid-equilibrium (VLE) cell. As this is a demanding high-pressure application, low-pressure condensation as liquefaction method was also assessed. Through experimental investigations and VLE calculations, preservation of the composition of the produced liquid sample during condensation was studied. We conclude that under optimized conditions, validation, and calibration measurements of optical sensors can be performed on condensed liquids, which, however, needs further confirmation.  相似文献

The residual stress state of coatings influences tool life and performance in machining significantly. Due to thermo-mechanical loads during the cutting process the coatings require tailored properties. Beside the coating structure the two most important properties are the residual stress state and the chemical composition of the coating. Therefore, the influence of these two properties is investigated in this study, comparing the cutting performance in continuous and interrupted cutting of 42CrMo4 (AISI 4140) and Ti–6Al–4V. It is shown that the residual stress states of the coating close to the surface and close to the substrate are important for the wear behavior. High compressive residual stresses near the substrate combined with a material-optimized composition increase the resistance against chipping. Flank wear resistance increases with high compressive residual stresses near the surface and decreasing stresses towards the substrate.  相似文献

Platelets play a significant role in atherothrombosis. Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is critically involved in the regulation of LDL metabolism and interacts with platelet function. The effect of PCSK9 in platelet function is poorly understood. The authors of this article sought to characterize platelets as a major source of PCSK9 and PCSK9’s role in atherothrombosis. In a large cohort of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), platelet count, platelet reactivity, and platelet-derived PCSK9 release were analyzed. The role of platelet PCSK9 on platelet and monocyte function was investigated in vitro. Platelet count and hyper-reactivity correlated with plasma LDL in CAD. The circulating platelets express on their surface and release substantial amounts of PCSK9. Release of PCSK9 augmented platelet-dependent thrombosis, monocyte migration, and differentiation into macrophages/foam cells. Platelets and PCSK9 accumulated in tissue derived from atherosclerotic carotid arteries in areas of macrophages. PCSK9 inhibition reduced platelet activation and platelet-dependent thrombo-inflammation. The authors identified platelets as a source of PCSK9 in CAD, which may have an impact on LDL metabolism. Furthermore, platelet-derived PCSK9 contributes to atherothrombosis, and inhibition of PCSK9 attenuates thrombo-inflammation, which may contribute to the reported beneficial clinical effects.  相似文献

A new organic nonlinear optical material L-phenylalanine nitric acid [2C9H11NO2.H+. NO3] (LPN), was synthesized in mixed solvent of deionised water and methanol and single crystals of LPN was grown by slow evaporation method. Transparent crystals upto 2.9 × 0.3 × 0.05 cm3 were obtained. The grown crystals have been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction studies to identify the crystalline nature. Single crystal X-ray diffractometer was utilized to measure unit cell parameters and to confirm the crystal structure. The modes of vibration of different molecular groups present in LPN were identified by FTIR spectral analysis. Transmission spectra reveals that the crystal has low UV cutoff of 295 nm and has a good transmittance in the entire visible region enabling its use in optical applications. Thermal properties of the crystals have been investigated using thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analyses (DTA), which indicate that the material does not decompose before melting. The existence of second harmonic generation signals was observed using Nd:YAG laser with fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm.  相似文献

Unlike other heavy metals that are inherently associated with atmospheric aerosols, mercury in ambient air exists predominantly in the gaseous elemental form. Because of its prolonged atmospheric residence time, elemental mercury vapor is distributed on a global scale. Recently, Canadian researchers have discovered that total gaseous mercury levels in the lower tropospheric boundary layer in the Canadian Arctic are often significantly depleted during the months after polar sunrise. A possible explanation may involve oxidation of elemental mercury, followed by adsorption and deposition of the oxidized form, leading to an increased input of atmospheric mercury into the Arctic ecosystem. Here we present the first continuous high-time-resolution measurements of total gaseous mercury in the Antarctic covering a 12-month period between January 2000 and January 2001 at the German Antarctic research station Neumayer (70 degrees 39' S, 8 degrees 15' W). We report that mercury depletion events also occur in the Antarctic after polar sunrise and compare our measurements with a data setfrom Alert, Nunavut, Canada. We also present indications that BrO radicals and ozone play a key role in the boundary-layer chemistry during springtime mercury depletion events in the Antarctic troposphere.  相似文献

The effects of metal ions on the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) properties of (bpy)2Ru(AZA-bpy) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine; AZA-bpy = 4-(N-aza-18-crown-6-methyl-2,2'-bipyridine) have been investigated. The electrochemistry, photophysics and ECL of Ru(bpy)3(2+) in the presence of Pb2+, Hg2+, Cu2+, and K+ are reported. The anodic oxidation of Ru(bpy)3(2+) produces ECL in the presence of tri-n-propylamine (TPrA) in 50:50 (v/v) CH3CN:H2O solution. Increases in ECL efficiency (photons generated per redox event) up to 20-fold that depend on both the concentration and nature of the metal ion have been observed, making this an interesting system for electrochemiluminescence metal ion sensing.  相似文献

Cryogenic probe technology can significantly compensate for the inherently low sensitivity of natural abundance 13C NMR spectroscopy. This now permits its routine use in NMR spectroscopy of biofluids, such as urine or plasma, with acquisition times that enable a high throughput of samples. Metabonomic studies often generate numerous samples in order to characterize fully the time-dependent biochemical response to stimuli, but until now, they have been largely conducted using 1H NMR spectroscopy because of its high sensitivity and hence efficient data acquisition. Here, we demonstrate that information-rich 13C NMR spectra of rat urine can be obtained using appropriately short acquisition times suitable for biochemical samples when using a cryogenic probe. Furthermore, these data were amenable to automated pattern recognition analysis, which produced a profile of the metabolic response to the model hepatotoxin hydrazine that was consistent with earlier studies. Thus, a new source of detailed and complementary information is available to metabonomics using cryogenic probe 13C NMR spectroscopy.  相似文献
