Resonant frequencies of the two-dimensional plasma in field effect transistors (FETs) increase with the reduction of the channel dimensions and can reach the Terahertz (THz) range. Nonlinear properties of the plasma/electron gas in the transistor channel can be used for the rectification and detection of THz radiation. The excitation of plasma waves by sub-THz and THz radiation was demonstrated for short gate transistors at cryogenic temperatures. At room temperature plasma oscillations are usually overdamped, but the FETs can still operate as efficient broadband rectifiers/detectors in the THz range. We present a few recent experimental results on THz detection by FETs showing some new ways of improvement of FETs for THz imaging at room temperature as well as the new physical phenomena like detection in quantizing magnetic fields. We also demonstrate THz emission properties of GaN based FETs.  相似文献

The spectroscopic characteristics and the crystal structure of Eu(III) complex with picolinic acid N-oxide ligand, picNO, at room and liquid-nitrogen temperatures are discussed. Studies concerning the Eu(III) ion luminescence (intensity, luminescence lifetime measurements, and excitation spectra of the 5D0  7F0 transition) are presented. The selective excitation luminescence spectroscopy of Eu(III) in the range of the 5D0  7F0 transition is used for the study of Eu/picNO complexes in solution equilibria. In the crystal the complex molecules build the two-dimensional structures with additional Na+ cations and water molecules. This structure consists of edge-sharing chains of Na distorted octahedral, interconnected by Eu polyhedra (distorted square antiprisms). The ligand, pyridine-2-carboxylate-1-oxide, coordinates to the Eu(III) ion as an ionic bidentate chelate, forming the Na[Eu(picNO)4] complex of six-membered chelate rings with the bite angles of ca. 70.5°. The complex is symmetrical; the Eu(III) ion is eight-coordinated.  相似文献

Black glasses are amorphous materials based on silicon oxycarbide. The use of precursors in the form of ladder‐like silsesquioxanes enables the control of the amount of carbon ions in the glass network by adjusting ratios of T to D structural units in precursors. In this study, four different sols precursors of four different layers of black glasses on titanium substrates were prepared. The materials were analyzed with the use of various spectroscopic and microscopic methods. Formation of continuous and hermetic layers resistant to corrosion was proven. The black glasses layers were examined as materials for biomedical applications. Therefore, preliminary tests of their bioactivity and biocompatibility were performed. The best results were obtained for the material of lower contribution of carbon ions.  相似文献

In this paper the first fully LTCC embedded piezoelectric vibration harvester is demonstrated and characterized. Using ordinary LTCC processes a 39 mm × 39 mm × 3 mm package containing 25 mm co-fired PZT discs was made. Three laser cut beams of different lengths provided a 5.4% frequency bandwidth for 3 dB attenuation and a power of 32 μW at 1 g acceleration delivered into a 33.9 kΩ resistive load. The packaged structure was compared to a bare monomorph reference sample and showed less crosstalk, better frequency control and more power generated. The experiments showed that integration of LTCC and PZT bulk materials by co-firing is a very feasible way to realise energy harvesters for wireless technologies, sensors and autonomous System-On-a-Package.  相似文献

For nonlinear processes the classical model predictive control (MPC) algorithm, in which a linear model is used, usually does not give satisfactory closed-loop performance. In such nonlinear cases a suboptimal MPC strategy is typically used in which the nonlinear model is successively linearised on-line for the current operating point and, thanks to linearisation, the control policy is calculated from a quadratic programming problem. Although the suboptimal MPC algorithm frequently gives good results, for some nonlinear processes it would be beneficial to further improve control accuracy. This paper details a computationally efficient nonlinear MPC algorithm in which a neural model is linearised on-line along the predicted trajectory in an iterative way. The algorithm needs solving on-line only a series of quadratic programming problems. Advantages of the discussed algorithm are demonstrated in the control system of a high-purity ethylene–ethane distillation column for which the classical linear MPC algorithm does not work and the classical suboptimal MPC algorithm is slow. It is shown that the discussed algorithm can give practically the same control accuracy as the algorithm with on-line nonlinear optimisation and, at the same time, the algorithm is significantly less computationally demanding.  相似文献

A significant number of studies report growing resistance in nematodes thriving in both humans and livestock. This study was conducted to evaluate the in vitro and in vivo anthelmintic efficiency of Curcubita pepo (C. pepo) L. hot water extract (HWE), cold water extract (CWE) or ethanol extract (ETE) on two model nematodes: Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) and Heligmosoides bakeri (H. bakeri). Methods: Raman, IR and LC-MS spectroscopy analyses were performed on the studied plant material to deliver qualitative and quantitative data on the composition of the obtained extracts: ETE, HWE and CWE. The in vitro activity evaluation showed an impact of C. pepo extracts on C. elegans and different developmental stages of H. bakeri. The following in vivo experiments on mice infected with H. bakeri confirmed inhibitory properties of the most active pumpkin extract selected by the in vitro study. All of the extracts were found to contain cucurbitine, aminoacids, fatty acids, and-for the first time-berberine and palmatine were identified. All C. pepo seed extracts exhibited a nematidicidal potential in vitro, affecting the survival of L1 and L2 H. bakeri larvae. The ETE was the strongest and demonstrated a positive effect on H. bakeri eggs hatching and marked inhibitory properties against worm motility, compared to a PBS control. No significant effects of pumpkin seed extracts on C. elegans integrity or motility were found. The EtOH extract in the in vivo studies showed anthelmintic properties against both H. bakeri fecal egg counts and adult worm burdens. The highest egg counts reduction was observed for the 8 g/kg dose (IC50 against H. bakeri = 2.43; 95% Cl = 2.01–2.94). A decrease in faecal egg counts (FEC) was accompanied by a significant reduction in worm burden of the treated mice compared to the control group. Conclusions: Pumpkin seed extracts may be used to control of Gastrointestinal (G.I.) nematode infections. This relatively inexpensive alternative to the currently available chemotherapeutic should be considered as a novel drug candidate in the nearest future.  相似文献

We recently reported the presence of various cyclopropane fatty acids—among them, cyclopropaneoctanoic acid 2‐hexyl—in the adipose tissue of obese women. The aim of this study was to verify whether the presence of cyclopropaneoctanoic acid 2‐hexyl in human serum was associated with obesity or chronic kidney disease (both being related to dyslipidemia), and to find potential associations between the serum level of this compound and specific markers of the these conditions. The serum concentration of cyclopropaneoctanoic acid 2‐hexyl was determined by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) in non‐obese controls, obese patients, obese patients after a 3‐month low‐calorie diet, and individuals with chronic kidney disease. Obese patients and those with chronic kidney disease presented with higher serum levels of cyclopropaneoctanoic acid 2‐hexyl than controls. Switching obese individuals to a low‐calorie (low‐lipid) diet resulted in a reduction in this fatty acid concentration to the level observed in controls. Cyclopropaneoctanoic acid 2‐hexyl was also found in foods derived from animal fat. Serum concentrations of triacylglycerols in the analyzed groups followed a pattern similar to that for serum cyclopropaneoctanoic acid 2‐hexyl, and these variables were positively correlated with each other among the studied groups. Patients with hypertriglyceridemia‐related conditions presented with elevated serum levels of cyclopropaneoctanoic acid 2‐hexyl. Our findings suggest that its high serum level is related to high serum triacylglycerol concentrations rather than to body mass or BMI.  相似文献

Chitosan is one of the emerging materials for various applications. The most intensive studies have focused on its use as a biomaterial and for biomedical, cosmetic, and packaging systems. The research on biodegradable food packaging systems over conventional non-biodegradable packaging systems has gained much importance in the last decade. The deacetylation of chitin, a polysaccharide mainly obtained from crustaceans and shrimp shells, yields chitosan. The deacetylation process of chitin leads to the generation of primary amino groups. The functional activity of chitosan is generally owed to this amino group, which imparts inherent antioxidant and antimicrobial activity to the chitosan. Further, since chitosan is a naturally derived polymer, it is biodegradable and safe for human consumption. Food-focused researchers are exploiting the properties of chitosan to develop biodegradable food packaging systems. However, the properties of packaging systems using chitosan can be improved by adding different additives or blending chitosan with other polymers. In this review, we report on the different properties of chitosan that make it suitable for food packaging applications, various methods to develop chitosan-based packaging films, and finally, the applications of chitosan in developing multifunctional food packaging materials. Here we present a short overview of the chitosan-based nanocomposites, beginning with principal properties, selected preparation techniques, and finally, selected current research.  相似文献
