To mimic the role of hydroxide minerals and their humic complex derivatives on the biodegradability of pesticides in soils, synthetic Mg(R)Al Layered Double Hydroxides (LDH) and Mg(R)Al modified by Humic substances (LDH-HA) were prepared for various R values (2, 3 and 4) and fully characterized. Adsorption properties of LDH and LDH-HA toward Pseudomonas sp. strain ADP were evaluated. The adsorption kinetics were very fast (<5 min to reach equilibrium). The adsorption capacities were greater than previously reported (13.5×10(11), 41×10(11) and 45.5×10(11) cells/gLDH for Mg(2)Al, Mg(3)Al and Mg(4)Al, respectively) and varied with both surface charge and textural properties. Surface modification by HA reduced the adsorption capacities of cells by 2-6-fold. Biodegradation kinetics of atrazine by Pseudomonas sp. adsorbed on both LDHs and LDH-HA complexes were measured for various solid/liquid ratios and adsorbed cell amounts. Biodegradation activity of bacterial cells was strongly boosted after adsorption on LDHs, the effect depending on the quantity and properties of the LDH matrix. The maximum biodegradation rate was obtained in the case of a 100 mg/mL Mg(2)Al LDH suspension (26 times higher than that obtained with cells alone).  相似文献

Exploitation of polymetallic deposits from calcareous mining sites exposes galena and others sulfides to weathering factors. Galena weathering leads to the formation of lead phases (e.g., PbSO4, PbCO3) with a higher bioaccessibility than galena, thus increasing the mobility and toxicity of lead. Despite the environmental impacts of these lead phases, the mechanisms of galena oxidation and the transformation of lead secondary phases, under neutral-alkaline carbonated conditions, have rarely been studied. In this work, an experimental approach, combining electrochemical and spectroscopic techniques, was developed to examine the interfacial processes involved in the galena weathering under simulated calcareous conditions. The results showed an initial oxidation stage with the formation of an anglesite-like phase leading to the partial mineral passivation. Under neutral-alkaline carbonated conditions, the stability of this phase was limited as it transformed into a cerussite-like one. Based on the surface characterization and the formation of secondary species, the weathering mechanisms of galena in calcareous soil and its environmental implications were suggested.  相似文献

Eucalyptus globulus wood samples were subjected to double hydrothermal processing to remove extractives in the first stage, and to cause the selective solubilisation of 4-O-methylglucuronoxylan in the second stage. The hemicellulose-derived products present in the liquors from the second hydrothermal stage (substituted xylooligosaccharides, denoted XOS) were refined by treatments with membranes and ion exchange. The purified XOS product was assayed for composition and characterised by HPLC-RI, HPAEC-PAD, HPSEC, MALDI-TOF-MS and NMR techniques. The results suggested the presence of neutral and acidic XOS with a degree of acetylation of about 0.6. The fermentability of the refined XOS product by faecal inocula was assessed by measuring both substrate consumption and formation of short-chain fatty acids.  相似文献

Our objective was to identify and quantify phospholipids in milk from different species (human HM, cow CoM, camel CaM, and mare MM) using an optimised (31)P NMR spectroscopy procedure. The phospholipid fingerprints were species-specific with a broader variety of classes found in HM and MM; HM and CaM were richer in sphingomyelin (78.3 and 117.5μg/ml) and plasmalogens (27.3 and 24μg/ml), possibly important for infant development. Total phospholipid content was higher in CaM (0.503mM) and lower in MM (0.101mM) compared to HM (0.324mM) or CoM (0.265mM). Our optimised method showed good sensitivity, high resolution, and easy sample preparation with minimal loss of target molecules. It is suitable for determining the accurate composition of a large number of bioactive phospholipids with putative health benefits, including plasmalogens, and should aid in selecting appropriate ingredient sources for infant milk substitutes or fortifiers, and for functional foods dedicated to adults.  相似文献

Plutonium oxidation state distribution on Yucca Mountain tuff and synthetic pyrolusite (beta-MnO2) suspensions was measured using synchrotron X-ray micro-spectroscopy and microimaging techniques as well as ultrafiltration/solventextraction techniques. Plutonium sorbed to the tuff was preferentially associated with manganese oxides. For both Yucca Mountain tuff and synthetic pyrolusite, Pu(IV) or Pu(V) was initially oxidized to more mobile Pu(V/VI), but over time, the less mobile Pu(IV) became the predominant oxidation state of the sorbed Pu. The observed stability of Pu(IV) on oxidizing surfaces (e.g., pyrolusite), is proposed to be due to the formation of a stable hydrolyzed Pu(IV) surface species. These findings have important implications in estimating the risk associated with the geological burial of radiological waste in areas containing Mn-bearing minerals, such as at the Yucca Mountain or the Hanford Sites, because plutonium will be predominantly in a much less mobile oxidation state (i.e., Pu(IV)) than previously suggested (i.e., Pu(V/VI).  相似文献

The chemical binding of a redox acridone derivative onto a polypyrrole film functionalized by N-hydroxysuccinimide groups provided an electrode capable of anchoring DNA duplex by simple insertion of the grafted acridone intercalator into the dsDNA solution. This electrode was applied for the detection of a ssDNA derived from a West Nile virus sequence. The latter was thus amperometrically detected after its hybridization in solution with a biotinylated complementary oligonucleotide followed by its anchoring and labeling by a glucose oxidase at 1 pg/mL.  相似文献

The addition of fiber to foods and beverages has been linked with greater satiety and reduced energy intakes at the next meal. However, measures of satiety can be influenced by the time interval between beverage consumption and the next meal. The objective of this study was to determine how the time interval between consumption and a subsequent test meal impacts the satiating power of a low-calorie beverage supplemented with low-viscosity pectin fiber. Forty-two participants (20 men, 22 women) each participated in 4 study sessions. Study preloads were 2 low-calorie beverages (355 mL, 8 kcal) containing either 0 g fiber (no fiber) or 8 g low-viscosity fiber (added fiber). These preloads were consumed either 90 min before lunch or 15 min before lunch. Every 15 min, participants rated hunger, desire to eat, fullness, and thirst using 100-mm visual analogue scales. A test lunch was served and plate waste was measured. Beverages with added fiber reduced energy intakes at lunch relative to those without fiber. A short delay (15 min) between beverage consumption and a subsequent meal was associated with higher satiety ratings and reduced energy intakes, regardless of fiber content. The addition of low-viscosity pectin to low-calorie beverages reduced energy intakes at the next meal, presenting a possible tool for intake regulation. A short time interval between consumption of a low-calorie beverage and a meal also increased satiety and decreased food intake, reflecting the short-lived effect of volume.  相似文献

The peroxidation of different polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) after photoirradiation in aqueous solution was evaluated by measuring fatty acid loss and malonaldehyde production in medium. The oxidation rates of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), two highly unsaturated fatty acids of the n−3 series, were surprisingly lower (14 and 22%, respectively) than the oxidation rates of linoleic, α-linolenic, γ-linolenic, dihomo γ-linolenic, and arachidonic acids (62–90%). The quantities of malonaldehyde (MA) produced were assayed simultaneously by gas chromatography (GC) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). MA production was found to be related to both the degree of unsaturation and the metabolic series of the fatty acid. The maximum value was observed with arachidonic acid (MA production from 2 mM arachidonic acid in aqueous solution was estimated at 44.9±6.0 μM by GC and 46.8 ±4.0 μM by HPLC). Eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid produced lower MA quantities compared to arachidonic acid (MA production from 2 mM EPA and 2 mM DHA was estimated at 17.9±1.5 μM and 37.9±0.7 μM, respectively, by GC, and 26.3±4.9 μM and 37.3±4.2 μM, respectively, by HPLC). The MA yield, defined as the amount of MA (nmols) produced per 100 nanomoles of oxidized fatty acid, was used to express the susceptibility of individual PUFA to peroxidation. The MA yield correlated well with the degree of unsaturation, but was independent of carbon chain length and metabolic series. The study suggests that adequate assessment of lipid peroxidation cannot be achieved by measuring MA formation alone, but it also requires knowledge of the fatty acid composition of the system studied.  相似文献
