Polypropylene (PP)/Multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanocomposites were fabricated via melt compounding that utilizes a corotating twin‐screw extruder. Two commercially available MWCNTs, Baytubes C150P and C70P, were incorporated into PP matrix at concentration of 3 wt %. The nanocomposites samples were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), nanoindentation test, and picoammeter. It was found that both MWCNTs types were well distributed and dispersed in the PP matrix and no agglomeration of MWCNTs was observed. The DMA analysis results showed that the incorporation of MWCNTs enhanced the storage modulus and thermal stability of the PP matrix. Whereas, nanoindentation creep results showed that the creep rate and displacement of the PP/MWCNTs nanocomposites was lower than the neat PP, in which C70P < C150P < PP. The reduction of creep rate and creep displacement was associated to the improvement of creep resistance. There were also improvements on hardness and stiffness of the nanocomposites. Chlorpyrifos and lambda-cyhalothrin are two of the most commonly used insecticides in agriculture. Their residues reach water courses, affecting aquatic fauna and subsequently human beings. Aspergillus viridinutans and Penicillium implicatum isolated from water drains at El-Giza and El-Ismailia governorates were grown in potato dextrose broth media supplemented with different concentrations of chlorpyrifos and lambda-cyhalothrin. Samples, taken at 0, 7 and 14 days, were analysed for pesticide residues by gas chromatography. The fungal species showed biodegradation potentials of 2.5, 5 and 20 ppm of chlorpyrifos and lambda-cyhalothrin. Degradation percentage reached 100% after 14 days of incubation of both pesticides (2.5 ppm) individually with the two tested fungal species. The values of degradation rate, besides the weights of dry fungal biomasses ensured that the optimum chlorpyrifosconcentration for A. viridinutans and P. implicatum was 5 ppm, while the optimum lambda-cyhalothrin concentration for A. viridinutanswas 5 ppm and 2.5 ppm for P. implicatum. 相似文献

Removal and recovery of zirconium from dilute aqueous solutions by Candida tropicalis used as biosorbent, was studied by performing biosorption-desorption tests. This biosorbent was selected after screening a range of microbial species. The process was found to be highly dependent on initial pH and concentration of metal solution. At optimized experimental parameters, the maximum zirconium biosorption capacity of C. tropicalis was 179 mg Zr g(-1) dry weight of biosorbent. The adsorption distribution coefficient value of 3968 ml g(-1) was obtained for zirconium biosorption by C. tropicalis. Different theoretical thermodynamic models governing the adsorption behavior of zirconium were also tested. Zirconium biosorption was found to closely follow the Langmuir model. At low biomass concentrations it was found to follow pseudo-first-order kinetics. However when higher biomass concentrations were used kinetics was changed to pseudo-second-order. The zirconium bound to the biomass was stripped out (60.2% at S/L of 1.0 g of zirconium loaded biomass/l of eluent) using sodium bicarbonate and the biomass could be used for multiple sorption-desorption cycles. 相似文献

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation into the use of stabilisation/solidification (S/S) to treat synthetic drill cuttings as a pre-treatment to landfilling or for potential re-use as construction products. Two synthetic mixes were used based on average concentrations of specific contaminates present in typical drill cuttings from the North Sea and the Red Sea areas. The two synthetic drill cuttings contained similar chloride content of 2.03% and 2.13% by weight but different hydrocarbon content of 4.20% and 10.95% by weight, respectively; hence the mixes were denoted as low and high oil content mixes, respectively. A number of conventional S/S binders were tested including Portland cement (PC), lime and blast-furnace slag (BFS), in addition to novel binders such as microsilica and magnesium oxide cement. Physical, chemical and microstructural analyses were used to compare the relative performance of the different binder mixes. The unconfined compressive strength (UCS) values were observed to cover a wide range depending on the binder used. Despite the significant difference in the hydrocarbon content in the two synthetic cuttings, the measured UCS values of the mixes with the same binder type and content were similar. The leachability results showed the reduction of the synthetic drill cuttings to a stable non-reactive hazardous waste, compliant with the UK acceptance criteria for non-hazardous landfills: (a) by most of the binders for chloride concentrations, and (b) by the 20% BFS-PC and 30% PC binders for the low oil content mix. The 30% BFS-PC binder successfully reduced the leached oil concentration of the low oil content mix to inert levels. Finally, the microstructural analysis offered valuable information on the morphology and general behaviour of the mixes that were not depicted by the other tests. 相似文献

Gas hold‐up and liquid circulation velocity measurements were made using a 167 dm3 external loop airlift reactor. The gas‐separator was of the open channel configuration. The reactor height was 2.5 m with riser and downcomer diameters of 0.19 m and 0.14 m respectively. The systems investigated were Newtonian air–water and air–glycerol with the superficial air velocity varying between 0.02 and 0.12 m s−1. The ratio of the liquid volume in the gas‐separator to the liquid volume in the reactor (volume‐ratio) was varied from 0.0% to 37%, to find its minimum critical value for optimum operation of the airlift reactor. For the air–water system, discernible effects of the volume‐ratio on riser and, downcomer gas hold‐ups and liquid circulation velocity were observed at volume ratios ≤7%. Beyond this value, the volume‐ratio had no effect. For a viscous and foaming air–glycerol system the critical volume‐ratio was increased to 19%. New and simple correlations for predicting gas hold‐up in the riser, gas hold‐up in the downcomer, and liquid circulation velocity were developed with reasonable accuracy. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have gained remarkable appreciation and technological development over the last few years. Despite ease of deployment, tremendous applications and significant advantages, security has always been a challenging issue due to the nature of environments in which nodes operate. Nodes’ physical capture, malicious or selfish behavior cannot be detected by traditional security schemes. Trust and reputation based approaches have gained global recognition in providing additional means of security for decision making in sensor and ad-hoc networks. This paper provides an extensive literature review of trust and reputation based models both in sensor and ad-hoc networks. Based on the mechanism of trust establishment, we categorize the stateof-the-art into two groups namely node-centric trust models and system-centric trust models. Based on trust evidence, initialization, computation, propagation and weight assignments, we evaluate the efficacy of the existing schemes. Finally, we conclude our discussion with identification of some unresolved issues in pursuit of trust and reputation management. 相似文献

Study on X-ray emission from a low energy (1.8 kJ) plasma focus device powered by a 9 μF capacitor bank, charged at 20 kV and giving peak discharge current of about 175 kA by using a lead-inserted copper-tapered anode is reported. The X-ray yield in different energy windows is measured as a function of hydrogen filling pressure. The maximum yield in 4π-geometry is found to be (27.3±1.1) J and corresponding wall plug efficiency for X-ray generation is 1.52±.06%. X-ray emission, presumably due to bombarding activity of electrons in current sheath at the anode tip was dominant, which is confirmed by the pinhole images. The feasibility of the device as an intense X-ray source for radiography is demonstrated. 相似文献

Performance of a bolted flange joint is characterized mainly due to its “strength” and “sealing capability.” A number of analytical and experimental studies have been conducted to study these characteristics only under internal pressure loading. A very limited amount of work is found in the literature under combined internal pressure and bending loading. Due to the ignorance of this external loading, i.e., bending loading, the optimized performance of the bolted flange joint cannot be achieved. The present design codes do not address the effects of bending loading on the structural integrity and sealing ability. To investigate joint strength and sealing capability under combined loading, an extensive comparative experimental and numerical study of a nongasketed flange joint is carried out and overall joint performance and behavior is discussed. Actual joint load capacity is determined under both the design and proof test pressure with maximum additional external bending loading that can be applied for safe joint performance. In addition, as experimentally it is impossible to test different flange joint sizes under combined loading application, hence finite element model developed and verified with the experimental results, presented in this paper can be used as base to study the behavior for different nongasketed flange joint sizes for different classes under combined pressure and bending loading. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to quantify free fatty acid in cottonseed oil (Gossypium) variety by a chemometric approach using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Calibration standards were prepared by gravimetrical mixing of oleic acid (0.1–40 g/100 g) in neutralized cottonseed oil containing <0.1% free fatty acids. Fourier transform infrared technique coupled with partial least square and principle component regression models were used to develop calibrations in the specific absorption region of carbonyl between 1690–1727 cm?1. On the basis of regression coefficient and evaluated free fatty acids results with comparison to titration method, partial least square was found to be more accurate than principle component regression calibration model. All the analyzed cottonseed oil varieties showed high content of free fatty acids in the range of 17.1–38.5%. The results of the present study indicated that Fourier transform infrared method in combination with partial least square or principle component regression could be used as a greener alternative to the standard titration method. 相似文献
