We evaluated the mechanisms underlying the oxytocin (OXT)-induced analgesic effect on orofacial neuropathic pain following infraorbital nerve injury (IONI). IONI was established through tight ligation of one-third of the infraorbital nerve thickness. Subsequently, the head withdrawal threshold for mechanical stimulation (MHWT) of the whisker pad skin was measured using a von Frey filament. Trigeminal ganglion (TG) neurons innervating the whisker pad skin were identified using a retrograde labeling technique. OXT receptor-immunoreactive (IR), transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1)-IR, and TRPV4-IR TG neurons innervating the whisker pad skin were examined on post-IONI day 5. The MHWT remarkably decreased from post-IONI day 1 onward. OXT application to the nerve-injured site attenuated the decrease in MHWT from day 5 onward. TRPV1 or TRPV4 antagonism significantly suppressed the decrement of MHWT following IONI. OXT receptors were expressed in the uninjured and Fluoro-Gold (FG)-labeled TG neurons. Furthermore, there was an increase in the number of FG-labeled TRPV1-IR and TRPV4-IR TG neurons, which was inhibited by administering OXT. This inhibition was suppressed by co-administration with an OXT receptor antagonist. These findings suggest that OXT application inhibits the increase in TRPV1-IR and TRPV4-IR TG neurons innervating the whisker pad skin, which attenuates post-IONI orofacial mechanical allodynia.  相似文献

Mg-based hydrogen storage materials can be very promising candidates for stationary energy storage application due to the high energy density and low cost of Mg. Hydrogen storage kinetics and thermal conductivity are two important factors for the material development for this kind of application. Here we studied several types of Mg-based materials with different structure-micrometer scale Mg powders, Mg nanoparticles, single crystal Mg, nanocrystalline Mg50Co50 BCC alloy and Mg thin film samples. It seems the Mg materials with good kinetics usually are the ones with nanostructure and tend to show poor thermal conductivity due to electron/phonon scattering resulting from more interfaces and boundaries in nanomaterials. Based on this work, good crystallinity Mg phase incorporated in carbon nano framework could be one promising option for energy storage.  相似文献

The mechanism of formation of the superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x (Bi‐2212) has been an open question since its discovery in 1988. By controlling crystal growth through the use of biopolymers as multivalent cation chelating agents, it is demonstrated through X‐ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis, that it is the formation of a mixed metal carbonate eutectic that promotes the formation of the target phase. X‐ray diffraction experiments, supported by infrared spectroscopy, identify this phase as (Sr1?x Ca x )CO3. This knowledge allows to further reduce the eutectic melting point by the incorporation of a biopolymer rich in potassium ions, resulting in the scalable formation of Bi‐2212 at a temperature 50 °C lower than has been achieved previously.  相似文献

The objective of this study is to clarify physical mechanisms involved in the evaporation of small (a few microliters) sessile drops. We aim to understand the relation between local thermal information at the solid–liquid interface and overall evaporation. An infrared (IR) camera and a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera were used to determine the temperature and heat flux distribution at the solid–liquid interface and the profile of the evaporating drop, respectively. The temperature distribution at the solid–liquid interface was determined using a multilayer substrate consisting of a silicon wafer coated with a thin thermal insulator that is partially transparent to IR. The liquids used were water and FC-72. The evaporation rate of water drops was found to occur mostly at the contact line. However, the heat transfer distribution at the liquid–solid interface was relatively uniform, indicating the heat transferred from the wall must be transported within the drop to the contact line. The mechanisms by which this occurs have yet to be determined. In contrast, the evaporation rate of FC-72 drops where hydrothermal waves were present was found to be proportional to the liquid–vapor interface area rather than the circumference of the drop, indicating a more uniform distribution of evaporation.  相似文献

Nonhuman primates, like humans, have demonstrated various physical intuitions. Cacchione and Krist (2004) examined chimpanzees' intuitions about support relations with the violation-of-expectation task. They reported that the chimpanzees possessed intuitions about support, but their intuitions differed from those of humans in part; they were sensitive to “contact/no-contact” and “amount of contact” but not “type of contact” rule. To further explore intuitions about support in nonhuman primates, we conducted similar experiments on monkeys (Japanese monkeys) and apes (chimpanzees). In three experiments, we presented physically possible and impossible events of different support relations to the participants and measured their looking times. The results reveal that the chimpanzees and monkeys detect the violations of “contact/no-contact” and “amount of contact” but not “type of contact” variable. Therefore, the apes and monkeys possess similar intuitions; however, these intuitions differ in part from those of humans. The present study provides new and corroborative evidence of intuitions about support in nonhuman primates. With the aim of producing fine-grained manganese–zinc (Mn–Zn) ferrite at the end of a calcination process at moderate temperatures, this study consisted, at first, of an “electrochemically designed” powder mixing by wet-ball milling a mixture of manganese (MnO2), zinc (ZnO), and iron (Fe2O3 granules produced by an acid recovery unit of a Brazilian steelmaker, milled to fine sizes using alkaline media) –based raw materials. This mixing/milling resulted in improved size reduction when compared to milling without any alkali addition. Further, noticeable size reduction was achieved when elemental Zn was used in place of ZnO, especially when ammonia was used as the medium. Calcination of the alkaline-milled mixture of MnO2 + ZnO + Fe2O3 at 1200 °C allowed obtaining well-crystallized single-phase Mn–Zn ferrite, whereas calcination of the MnO2 + ZnO + Fe2O3 mill-mixed in 100% NH4OH at 1200 °C produced the highest saturation magnetization in the as-calcined state.  相似文献

This paper presents a proposal of a simple and easy method to evaluate the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of CNT-dispersed polymer composites. An individual multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWNT) was pulled out from a MWNT-dispersed/PEEK composite using a nano-pullout testing system installed in an SEM. The tensile load was measured using the elastic deformation of an AFM cantilever. The pull-out length was controlled by making a through-thickness hole near the specimen edge using a focused ion beam (FIB) system. The IFSS of a MWNT/PEEK composite was measured as 3.5-14 MPa, which agrees with the IFSS estimated from the macroscopic stress-strain behavior of the MWNT/PEEK composites.  相似文献

This study examined the mechanical properties of aligned multi-walled carbon nanotube (CNT)/epoxy composites processed using a hot-melt prepreg method. Vertically aligned ultra-long CNT arrays (forest) were synthesized using chemical vapor deposition, and were converted to horizontally aligned CNT sheets by pulling them out. An aligned CNT/epoxy prepreg was fabricated using hot-melting with B-stage cured epoxy resin film. The resin content in prepreg was well controlled. The prepreg sheets showed good drapability and tackiness. Composite film specimens of 24-33 μm thickness were produced, and tensile tests were conducted to evaluate the mechanical properties. The resultant composites exhibit higher Young’s modulus and tensile strength than those of composites produced using conventional CNT/epoxy mixing methods. For example, the maximum elastic modulus and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of a CNT (21.4 vol.%)/epoxy composite were 50.6 GPa and 183 MPa. These values were, respectively, 19 and 2.9 times those of the epoxy resin.  相似文献

Usp9x, an X-linked deubiquitylating enzyme, is stage dependently expressed in the supporting cells (i.e. Sertoli cells and granulosa cells) and germ cells during mouse gametogenesis. Af-6, a cell junction protein, has been identified as a substrate of Usp9x, suggesting a possible association between Usp9x and Af-6 in spermatogenesis and oogenesis. In this study, we examined the expression pattern of Af-6 and Usp9x and their intracellular localization in testes and ovaries of mice treated with or without pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG), an FSH-like hormone. In both testes and ovaries, Af-6 expression was predominantly observed in supporting cells, as well as in steroidogenic cells, but not in any germ cells. In Sertoli cells, Af-6 was continuously expressed throughout postnatal and adult stages, where both Af-6 and Usp9x were enriched at the sites of Sertoli-Sertoli and Sertoli-spermatid junctions especially at stages XI-VI. In the granulosa cells, Af-6, as well as Usp9x, was highly expressed in primordial and primary follicles, but its expression rapidly decreased after the late-secondary follicle stage. Interestingly, in PMSG-treated mice, the expression levels of Af-6 and Usp9x were synchronously enhanced, slightly in Sertoli cells and strongly in granulosa cells of the late-secondary and Graafian follicles. Such closely correlated expression patterns between Af-6 and Usp9x clearly suggest that Af-6 may be deubiquitylated by Usp9x in both Sertoli and granulosa cells. It further suggests that the post-translational regulation of Af-6 by Usp9x may be one potential pathway to control the cell adhesion dynamics in mammalian gametogenesis.  相似文献
