To accommodate real-time multimedia application while satisfying application QoS requirements in a wireless ad-hoc network, we need QoS control mechanisms. In this paper, we propose a new routing mechanism to support real-time multimedia communication by efficiently utilize the limited wireless network capacity. Our mechanism considers a wireless ad-hoc network composed of nodes equipped with multiple network interfaces to each of which a different wireless channel can be assigned. By embedding information about channel usage in control messages of OLSRv2, each node obtains a view of topology and bandwidth information of the whole network. Based on the obtained information, a source node determines a logical path with the maximum available bandwidth to satisfy application QoS requirements. Through simulation experiments, we confirmed that our proposal effectively routed multimedia packets over a logical path avoiding congested links. As a result, the load on a network is well distributed and the network can accommodate more sessions than QOLSR. We also conducted practical experiments using wireless ad-hoc relay nodes with four network interfaces and verified the practicality of our proposal.  相似文献

We propose a technique, new to our knowledge, for characterizing single-mode operability by monitoring far-field patterns via a variable aperture. We clarify the applicability of our proposed technique to cutoff wavelength measurement, which agrees well with cutoff wavelength obtained by a conventional multimode reference technique. We also show the applicability of our proposed technique to holey fibers including photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) with uniform air-hole structure and effectively W-shaped air-hole structure. We can clearly characterize the single-mode operability of the PCF. The bend dependence of the single-mode bandwidth is also revealed by utilizing our proposed technique.  相似文献

We report the formation of a self-organized dendritic pattern of nanometer thickness in polymer Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films. Poly(N-dodecylacrylamide) (pDDA)/chloroform solution was spread on a water surface to form a stable polymer monolayer. A pDDA monolayer was deposited onto a hydrophilic silicon substrate by upward deposition from a water subphase, and a second layer was then deposited by downward deposition. The substrate with the two layers was withdrawn from a clean water surface at a high speed to form the dendritic pattern, which was imaged by atomic force microscopy. The height of the pattern, 3.5 nm, corresponds to the height of a bilayer pDDA LB film, suggesting that the pattern forms when the deposited outermost layer overturns by meniscus oscillation. A similar dendritic structure of narrower width and lower height was fabricated on a hydrophobic silicon substrate.  相似文献

This report examines the reliability of nighttime blood pressure dipping. Twenty-one individuals were studied twice with ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. On one occasion they were studied as outpatients, and on the other as inpatients on a clinical research ward. Blood pressure monitoring revealed the expected dip in blood pressure at nighttime. However, there was little test-retest reliability across the two settings. The test-retest correlations for the dip in blood pressure across the two settings were nonsignificant for systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial blood pressure. Caution is advised before diagnosing dipping or nondipping on the basis of one 24-h ambulatory blood pressure recording.  相似文献

The ezrin/radixin/moesin (ERM) proteins are involved in actin filament/plasma membrane interaction that is regulated by Rho. We examined whether ERM proteins are directly phosphorylated by Rho-associated kinase (Rho-kinase), a direct target of Rho. Recombinant full-length and COOH-terminal half radixin were incubated with constitutively active catalytic domain of Rho-kinase, and approximately 30 and approximately 100% of these molecules, respectively, were phosphorylated mainly at the COOH-terminal threonine (T564). Next, to detect Rho-kinase-dependent phosphorylation of ERM proteins in vivo, we raised a mAb that recognized the T564-phosphorylated radixin as well as ezrin and moesin phosphorylated at the corresponding threonine residue (T567 and T558, respectively). Immunoblotting of serum-starved Swiss 3T3 cells with this mAb revealed that after LPA stimulation ERM proteins were rapidly phosphorylated at T567 (ezrin), T564 (radixin), and T558 (moesin) in a Rho-dependent manner and then dephosphorylated within 2 min. Furthermore, the T564 phosphorylation of recombinant COOH-terminal half radixin did not affect its ability to bind to actin filaments in vitro but significantly suppressed its direct interaction with the NH2-terminal half of radixin. These observations indicate that the Rho-kinase-dependent phosphorylation interferes with the intramolecular and/ or intermolecular head-to-tail association of ERM proteins, which is an important mechanism of regulation of their activity as actin filament/plasma membrane cross-linkers.  相似文献

The effect of SiN surface passivation by catalytic chemical vapor deposition (Cat-CVD) on Al/sub 0.4/Ga/sub 0.6/N-GaN heterostructure field-effect transistors (HFETs) was investigated. The channel sheet resistance was reduced by the passivation due to an increase in electron density, and the device characteristics of the thin-barrier HFETs were significantly improved by the reduction of source and drain resistances. The AlGaN(8 nm)-AlN(1.3 nm)-GaN HFET device with a source/drain distance of 3 /spl mu/m and a gate length of 1 /spl mu/m had a maximum drain current density of 0.83 A/mm at a gate bias of +1.5 V and an extrinsic maximum transconductance of 403 mS/mm. These results indicate the substantial potential of Cat-CVD SiN-passivated AlGaN-GaN HFETs with thin and high Al composition barrier layers.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate change both in lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] and lipid levels in other lipoproteins in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) after short-term improvement of glycemic control. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: We compared Lp(a) levels in 210 NIDDM patients with those in 46 control subjects and evaluated the relationship between glycemic control and Lp(a) levels in diabetic patients. In addition, changes in Lp(a) levels and lipid levels were assessed after the improvement of glycemic control in 54 poorly controlled NIDDM patients. RESULTS: In NIDDM, Lp(a) levels in all patients, 62 patients with HbA1c < 6.0%, and 75 patients with HbA1c between 6.0 and 8.0%, were significantly higher than those in control subjects (19.1 [1.7-106.6], 19.2 [6.0-106.6], and 20.3 [2.7-75.3] vs. 15.4 [2.0-61.7] mg/dl, median [range], P < 0.05). Lp(a) levels in 73 patients with HbA1c of > or = 8.0% (18.7 [1.7-58.8] mg/dl) were not significantly different from those in control subjects. After glycemic control, lipid levels in plasma and in other lipoproteins fell significantly, but Lp(a) did not change (from 18.3 [1.7-58.8] to 18.4 [6.6-95.3] mg/dl). Changes in lipid levels, including Lp(a), did not correlate with those in fasting plasma glucose or HbA1c. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that elevated Lp(a) levels do not reflect poor glycemic control and that Lp(a) levels are independent of lipid levels in other lipoproteins after improved glycemic control in NIDDM.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The authors analyzed the radiation dose to the periphery of the cervix and area of the cervix in relation to local failure of radiotherapy for carcinoma of the cervix using computed tomography (CT) images. METHODS: Between 1981-1990, 127 consecutive patients were treated with definitive radiotherapy. Ninety-nine of these patients had CT images taken at the time of intracavitary therapy. Of these 99 patients, 80 were eligible for this analysis. After CT scanning, isodose curves relative to the point A dose were superimposed on the CT images. The minimum percent dose and minimum dose at the periphery of the cervix were estimated. The area of the cervix also was measured. These factors were examined in relation to the local tumor control rate. RESULTS: Histograms of both the minimum percent dose and the cervical area showed significant differences between the local control and local failure groups (P <0.001). The local control rates were related to both the minimum percent dose and the cervical area, and differed significantly over and below the values of 60% and 18 cm2 (P <0.001 each), respectively. The local control patients, over and below the line: Y = -0.220X + 21.2, in which X (gray [Gy]) and Y (Gy) are the whole pelvis dose and the minimum dose, respectively, could be well differentiated with significance (91.7% vs. 25.0%; P <0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Computed tomography analysis indicated that the local tumor control rate was related strongly to the minimum percent dose, the cervical area, and the pair of whole pelvis and minimum dose values. These factors were found to be more useful than the point A dose in predicting local tumor control.  相似文献
