A natural fiber hybrid composite containing equal proportions of kenaf fibers (KFs) and wood flour (WF) as the reinforcements and polypropylene (PP) as the polymer matrix was prepared, and its static and dynamic mechanical properties were compared with KF/PP and WF/PP composites. Static tensile and flexural tests and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) were carried out. The hybrid composite exhibited tensile and flexural moduli and strength values closer to those of the KF composite, which indicated a higher reinforcing efficiency of KFs compared with WF. DMA revealed that although the glass‐transition temperature remained unchanged by the replacement of half of the WF by KFs, the α‐transition temperature of the hybrid composite was identical to that of WF composite. This article describes the preparation of cell‐enclosing hyaluronic acid (HA) microparticles with solid core and microcapsules with liquid core through cell‐friendly horseradish peroxidase (HRP)‐catalyzed hydrogelation. The spherical vehicles were made from HA derivative possessing phenolic hydroxyl moieties (HA‐Ph) cross‐linkable through the enzymatic reaction by extruding cell‐suspending HA‐Ph aqueous solution containing HRP from a needle of 180 μm in inner diameter into the ambient coaxial flow of liquid paraffin containing H2O2 in a microtubule of 600 μm in diameter. By altering the flow rate of liquid paraffin, the diameters of gelatin and HA‐Ph microparticles were varied in the range of 120–220 μm and 100–300 μm, respectively. The viability of the enclosed human hepatoma HepG2 cells in the HA‐Ph microparticles of 180 μm in diameter was 94.2 ± 2.3%. The growth of the enclosed HepG2 cells was enhanced by decreasing the HRP concentration. The microcapsules of 200 μm in diameter were obtained by extruding HA‐Ph aqueous solution containing thermally liquefiable cell‐enclosing gelatin microparticles of 150 μm in diameter using the same microfluidic system. The enclosed cells grew and filled the cavity within 10 days. Spherical tissues covered with a heterogeneous cell layer were obtained by degrading the microcapsule membrane using hyaluronidase after covering the surface with a heterogeneous cell layer. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Heat exchangers are integral parts of important industrial units such as petrochemicals, medicine and power plants. Due to the importance of systems energy consumption, different modifications have been applied on heat exchangers in terms of size and structure. In this study, a novel heat exchanger with helically grooved annulus shell and helically coiled tube was investigated by numerical simulation. Helically grooves with the same pitch of the helical coil tube and different depth are created on the inner and outer wall of annulus shell to improve the thermal performance of heat exchanger. In the first section, thermal performance of the shell and coil heat exchanger with the helical grooves on its outer shell wall was compared with same but without helical grooves. At the second section, helically grooves created on both outer and inner wall of the annulus shell with different groove depths. The results showed that the heat exchanger with grooves on both inner and outer shell wall has better thermal performance up to 20% compared to the heat exchanger with grooves on only outer shell wall. The highest thermal performance achieves at lower flow rates and higher groove depths whereas the pressure drop did not increase significantly. 相似文献

Type 1 secretion systems (T1SS) have a relatively simple architecture compared to other classes of secretion systems and therefore, are attractive to be optimized by protein engineering. Here, we report a KnowVolution campaign for the hemolysin (Hly) enhancer fragment, an untranslated region upstream of the hlyA gene, of the hemolysin T1SS of Escherichia coli to enhance its secretion efficiency. The best performing variant of the Hly enhancer fragment contained five nucleotide mutations at five positions (A30U, A36U, A54G, A81U, and A116U) resulted in a 2-fold increase in the secretion level of a model lipase fused to the secretion carrier HlyA1. Computational analysis suggested that altered affinity to the generated enhancer fragment towards the S1 ribosomal protein contributes to the enhanced secretion levels. Furthermore, we demonstrate that involving a native terminator region along with the generated Hly enhancer fragment increased the secretion levels of the Hly system up to 5-fold. 相似文献

Nanocomposite foams contain very fine cells because of the fillers in nano scale. Due to the limited size of the cells, the mechanical and physical properties of nanocomposite foams are improved compared to polymer foams. In this study PVC/clay nanocomposite foams containing various concentrations of nano-clay (1, 3 and 5 phr) were successfully prepared. The samples were placed under CO2 gas pressure at 5 MPa, by immersing in glycerin bath at 60, 70, 80 °C and 20, 30, 40 s, respectively, to form foams. The density and the cell size as a factor of nano-clay content, foaming time and temperature were investigated using Archimedes method and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The minimum density was obtained in the sample containing 1 phr nanoclay prepared at 80 °C and 40 s. The minimum cell size was related to the sample containing 5 phr nanoclay at 60 °C and 20 s. 相似文献

In this article, polymerization of 1-hexene with FeCl3-doped Mg(OET)2/TiCl4/electron donor (ED) catalytic system is presented. For this purpose, first a number of TiCl4 catalysts supported on Mg(OEt)2 and Fe-doped Mg(OEt)2 supports were prepared with ethylbenzoate or dibutylphthalate as the internal EDs. After successive catalysts synthesis, they were employed in 1-hexene polymerization using cyclohexyl methyl dimethoxysilane as external ED as well as without it. The catalysts activity and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of poly 1-hexenes (PHs) were influenced strongly by both FeCl3 doping and donor presence so that a remarkable increase in the catalyst activity was seen in doped catalysts. Deconvolution of MWD curves revealed that increase in the type of active centers by introducing FeCl3 into the support should be responsible for the broadening of MWD of PHs. 13CNMR analysis indicated that while isotacticity does not change considerably by Fe doping, EDs increase its amount as high as 8–21%. Second, the stereoselective behavior of active Ti species in doped and undoped catalysts was fully explored by molecular modeling using density functional theory (DFT) method. Finally, with the aid of rheological measurements, the processability of polymers were evaluated and then the gel permeation chromatography (GPC) results were approved through the values obtained from model fitting as well as changes in moduli crossover modulus. 相似文献

A new kind of polymer composite, produced from the typical polybenzoxazine and 0–30 wt-% native and silane-treated aluminium nitride (T-AlN), was investigated. The mechanical tests revealed a significant increase in the microhardness and flexural properties upon adding the T-AlN particles compared to that obtained from the untreated ones. By adding 0–30 wt-% T-AlN, the tensile moduli were accurately reproduced by the Halpin-Tsai and Nielsen models. At 30 wt-% T-AlN, dynamic mechanical analysis showed a significant increase in the storage moduli and the glass transition temperature (Tg), reaching 3.2?GPa and 217°C, respectively. The thermal stability of these materials was significantly improved upon the addition of the T-AlN fillers. These improvements are attributed to the high thermal and mechanical properties of the fillers and their good dispersion and adhesion in and to the matrix as revealed by a morphological analysis. 相似文献

Thermoplastic elastomer nanocomposites based on acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) and polyamide 6 (PA6), with acid functionalized single‐wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT), were prepared via a direct melt‐mixing process in an internal mixer. The influence of SWNT content (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5) on morphological properties of PA6/NBR with different ratios (80/20, 70/30, 60/40) were then investigated. Characterization of nanocomposites was conducted by using transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and mechanical properties. Scanning electron microscopy micrographs proved the droplet‐matrix blend morphology in which the size of NBR droplets decreased as the SWNT loading increased, suggesting dispersion of SWNT in the PA6 phase. It was further proved by transmission electron microscopy images, showing homogenous dispersion of SWNT in the PA6 phase. Differential scanning calorimetry results showed a slightly reduced percentage of crystallinity in samples containing SWNT. This study deals with the performance and modeling of the electro-coagulation process for ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal by using aluminum electrode as anode in a continuous electrochemical reactor. The initial pH, temperature, current density, time and flow rate were selected as independent variables in response surface methodology (RSM) involving a five-level central composite design (CCD), while CIP removal efficiency was considered as the response function. The result of optimization showed that the maximum amount of CIP removal efficiency (88%) presented at the optimal condition of pH=5.6, t=100min, T=25.5 °C, I=5.6mA/cm2 and V=25.9 mL/min. In addition, the mineralization of the CIP was investigated by chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total organic carbon (TOC) measurements that showed 77% COD removal and 49%TOC removal. 相似文献
