In this study various two-stage processes were investigated for biological hydrogen production from olive mill wastewater (OMW) by Rhodobacter sphaeroides O.U.001. Two-stage processes consist of physicochemical pretreatment of OMW followed by photofermentation for hydrogen production. Explored pretreatment methods were chemical oxidation with ozone and Fenton's reagent, photodegradation by UV radiation, and adsorption with clay or zeolite. Among these different two-stage processes, strong chemical oxidants like ozone and Fenton's reagent have the highest color removal (90%). However, their effluents were observed to be unsuitable for both hydrogen production and bacterial growth. On the other hand, clay treatment method was selected as the optimum process that allows fast and low-cost treatment as well as its effluent found to have the highest hydrogen production potential (31.5 m3 m?3). Sediment transport in streams and rivers takes two forms as suspended load and bed load. Suspended load comprises sand + silt + clay-sized particles that are held in suspension due to the turbulence and will only settle when the stream velocity decreases, such as when the streambed becomes flatter, or the streamflow into a pond or lake. The sources of the suspended sediments are the sediments transported from the river basin by runoff or wind and the eroded sediments of the river bed and banks. Suspended-sediment load is a key indicator for assessing the effect of land use changes, water quality studies and engineering practices in watercourses. Measuring suspended sediment in streams is real sampling and the collection process is both complex and expensive. In recent years, artificial intelligence methods have been used as a predictor for hydrological phenomenon namely to estimate the amount of suspended sediment. In this paper the abilities of Support Vector Machine (SVM), Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and Adaptive Network Based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) models among the artificial intelligence methods have been investigated to estimate the suspended sediment load (SSL) in Ispir Bridge gauging station on Coruh River (station number: 2316). Coruh River is located in the northern east part of Turkey and it is one of the world”s the fastest, the deepest and the largest rivers of the Coruh Basin. In this study, in order to estimate the suspended sediment load, different combinations of the streamflow and the SSL were used as the model inputs. Its results accuracy was compared with the results of conventional correlation coefficient analysis between input and output variables and the best combination was identified. Finally, in order to predict SSL, the SVM, ANFIS and various ANNs models were used. The reliability of SVM, ANFIS and ANN models were determined based on performance criteria such as Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Efficiency Coefficient (EC) and Determination Coefficient (R2). 相似文献

A multi‐input–multi‐output extension of the well‐known two control degrees‐of‐freedom disturbance observer architecture that decouples the problem into single‐input–single‐output disturbance observer loops is presented in this paper. Robust design based on mapping D‐stability and the frequency domain specifications of weighted sensitivity minimization and phase margin bound to a chosen controller parameter space is presented as a part of the proposed design approach. The effect of the choice of disturbance observer Q filter on performance is explained with a numerical example. This is followed by the use of structured singular values in the robustness analysis of disturbance observer controlled systems subject to structured, real parametric and mixed uncertainty in the plant. After a series of earthquakes in 1999, Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) has engaged in a restructuring for all of its activities, including the blood services. Our study on the blood management system had been started as part of this initiative to restructure the blood services and improve both their effectiveness and efficiency. In the current system of TRC, not much consideration has been given to how the locational decisions affect the performance of blood centers, stations and mobile units. In recent years, however, there has been much discussion regarding the regionalization of the blood management system in Turkey. In this study, we develop several mathematical models to solve the location–allocation decision problems in regionalization of blood services. This paper presents a harmonic extraction algorithm using artificial neural networks for Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVRs). The suggested algorithm employs a feed forward Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) Neural Network with error back propagation learning to effectively track and extract the 3rd and 5th voltage harmonics. For this purpose, two different MLP neural network structures are constructed and their performances compared. The effects of hidden layer, supervisors and learning rate are also presented. The proposed MLP Neural Network algorithm is trained and tested in MATLAB program environment. The results show that MLP neural network enable to extract each harmonic effectively. 相似文献

We have prepared four baryte and four concrete samples having respectively 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% colemanite concentrations. Neutron dose transmission measurements have been done by using a source of mono-energetic neutrons (Eeff = 4.5 MeV–241Am–Be). It has been shown that when colemanite percentages of the samples increase, neutron dose transmission values for the samples decrease. It is thus possible to enhance the neutron shielding property of baryte and ordinary concrete by adding different proportions of colemanite. 相似文献

The present study deals with the investigation of photocatalytic degradation and mineralization of C.I. Basic Red 46 (BR46) and C.I. Basic Yellow 28 (BY28) dyes in single and binary solutions as a function of periodate ion concentration (IO(4)(-)), irradiation time, initial pH and initial dye concentrations. First order derivative spectrophotometric method was used for to simultaneous analysis of BY28 and BR46 in binary mixtures. Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model was applied to experimental data and apparent reaction rate constant values were calculated. The apparent degradation rate constant values of BR46 were higher than those of BY28 for all experiments in single dye solutions. On the other hand, the significant reductions were observed for the apparent degradation rate constant values of the BR46 in the presence of BY28 in binary solutions whereas TOC removal efficiency slightly enhanced in binary system. The highest TOC removal efficiency was obtained at pH 3.0 by adding 5mM periodate ion in to the solution in the presence of 1g/L TiO(2) for both dye solutions. After 3h illumination, 68, 76 and 75% mineralization were found for 100mg/L BY28, 100mg/L BR46 and 50+50mg/L mixed solutions, respectively. 相似文献

The objective of this work was to investigate the effect of chemical composition and segment number (n) on gelation, stiffness, and degradation of hydroxy acid-chain-extended star polyethylene glycol acrylate (SPEXA) gels. The hydroxy acids included glycolide (G), L-lactide (L), p-dioxanone (D) and ?-caprolactone (C). Chain-extension generated water soluble macromers with faster gelation rates, lower sol fractions, higher compressive moduli, and a wide-ranging degradation times when crosslinked into a hydrogel. SPEGA gels with the highest fraction of inter-molecular crosslinks had the most increase in compressive modulus with n whereas SPELA and SPECA had the lowest increase in modulus. SPEXA gels exhibited a wide range of degradation times from a few days for SPEGA to a few weeks for SPELA, a few months for SPEDA, and many months for SPECA. Marrow stromal cells and endothelial progenitor cells had the highest expression of vasculogenic markers when co-encapsulated in the faster degrading SPELA gel. 相似文献

Photosynthetic bacteria are favorable candidates for biological hydrogen production due to their high conversion efficiency and versatility in the substrates they can utilize. For large-scale hydrogen production, an integrated view of the overall metabolism is necessary in order to interpret results properly and facilitate experimental design. In this study, a summary of the hydrogen production metabolism of the photosynthetic purple non-sulfur (PNS) bacteria will be presented.Practically all hydrogen production by PNS bacteria occurs under a photoheterotrophic mode of metabolism. Yet results show that under certain conditions, alternative modes of metabolism—e.g. fermentation under light deficiency—are also possible and should be considered in experimental design.Two enzymes are especially critical for hydrogen production. Nitrogenase promotes hydrogen production and uptake hydrogenase consumes hydrogen.Though a wide variety of substrates can be used for growth, only a portion of these is suitable for hydrogen production. The efficiency of a certain substrate depends on factors such as the activity of the TCA cycle, the carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, the reduction-state of that material and the conversion potential of the substrate into alternative metabolites such as PHB.All these individual components of the hydrogen production interact and are subject to strict regulatory controls.
