The composition WC-(W,Cr)2C-Ni (commercial designations WC-‘CrC’-Ni, WC-Cr3C2-Ni and WC-NiCr) is unique among the WC-based materials used for the preparation of thermally sprayed hardmetal coatings. These coatings show a significantly higher oxidation resistance and high-temperature sliding wear resistance than WC-Co and WC-CoCr coatings do. Unlike WC-Co and Cr3C2-NiCr, WC-(W,Cr)2C-Ni is not a simple binary hard phase-binder metal composite as it is composed of two hard phases: WC and (W,Cr)2C. Surprisingly this composition has been poorly investigated in the past.In this paper coating microstructures and properties obtained from five commercial feedstock powders of different origins using two different liquid-fuelled high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) systems (K2 and JP-5000) were investigated. Additional experiments were performed with one powder using atmospheric and vacuum plasma spraying (APS and VPS, respectively). The microstructures and phase compositions of the powders and the coatings were studied. Focus was on the appearance, composition and distribution of the (W,Cr)2C phase which might form or might change its Cr/W ratio during the spray process. The composition of the (W,Cr)2C phase was estimated from the lattice parameters. Hardness HV0.3 was measured for all coatings. The density, Young's modulus and abrasion wear resistance of HVOF-sprayed coatings were studied. 相似文献

The Belousov–Zhabothinsky (BZ) reaction is a chemical reaction which exhibits spatial as well as temporal pattern formation.
Being an excitable medium, it can be influenced by even small external forces. One of these small forces which under ground
conditions permanently is given is gravity. The gravity dependence of the BZ-reaction has been investigated in some detail
up to now, and it has been found that especially the propagation velocity of waves in thin layers of fluid BZ-medium depends
significantly on gravity-amplitude and -orientation. This finding has been mainly assigned to an interaction of gravity with
diffusion and convection in the medium at the wave front, and consequently it has been stated that the propagation of waves
in gels of BZ-medium is not significantly gravity dependent. We have now done more detailed experiments and have been able
to show that also in gels the propagation velocity of BZ-waves is altered by gravity, but less than in fluid systems. Experiments

In mammals, integrins are heterodimeric transmembrane glycoproteins that represent a large group of cell adhesion receptors involved in cell–cell, cell–extracellular matrix, and cell–pathogen interactions. Integrin receptors are an important part of signalization pathways and have an ability to transmit signals into and out of cells and participate in cell activation. In addition to somatic cells, integrins have also been detected on germ cells and are known to play a crucial role in complex gamete-specific physiological events, resulting in sperm-oocyte fusion. The main aim of this review is to summarize the current knowledge on integrins in reproduction and deliver novel perspectives and graphical interpretations presenting integrin subunits localization and their dynamic relocation during sperm maturation in comparison to the oocyte. A significant part of this review is devoted to discussing the existing view of the role of integrins during sperm migration through the female reproductive tract; oviductal reservoir formation; sperm maturation processes ensuing capacitation and the acrosome reaction, and their direct and indirect involvement in gamete membrane adhesion and fusion leading to fertilization. 相似文献

Peritumoral budding and intratumoral budding (ITB) are important prognostic factors for colorectal cancer patients. Scientists worldwide have investigated the role of budding in tumor progression and its prognosis, but guidelines for reliably identifying tumor buds based on morphology are lacking. In this study, next-generation tissue microarray (ngTMA®) construction was used for tumor bud evaluation, and highly detailed rule-out annotation was used for tumor definition in pancytokeratin-stained tissue sections. Initially, tissues of 245 colon cancer patients were evaluated with high interobserver reliability, and a concordance of 96% was achieved. It was shown that high ITB scores were associated with poor distant metastasis-free survival (p = 0.006 with a cut-off of ≥10 buds). This cut-off was defined as the best maximum value from one of two/three ngTMA® cores (0.6 mm diameter). ITB in 30 cases of mucinous, medullary, and signet ring cell carcinoma was analyzed for the subsequent determination of differences in tumor bud analyses between those subtypes. In conclusion, blinded randomized punched cores in the tumor center can be useful for ITB detection. It can be assumed that this method is suitable for its adoption in clinical routines. 相似文献

Calorimetric, mechanical, and thermomechanical properties have been measured on starch films with various glycerol/water contents. For calorimetric measurements, a continuous decrease in Tg was observed as glycerol increases from 0 to 25%. Mechanical properties exhibit a minimum of elongation at break for glycerol content ∼ 12%. In slightly hydrated starch films not containing another plasticizer, a β relaxation is detected by DMTA around −68°C. This relaxation is modified by the presence of glycerol, the α relaxation of which appears in the same temperature range. Results are discussed comparing with the well-known antiplasticization effect in synthetic polymers such as PVC and PC. The lack of treatment options for high-grade brain tumors has led to searches for alternative therapeutic modalities. Electrical field therapy is one such area. The Optune™ system is an FDA-approved novel device that delivers continuous alternating electric fields (tumor treating fields—TTFields) to the patient for the treatment of primary and recurrent Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Various mechanisms have been proposed to explain the effects of TTFields and other electrical therapies. Here, we present the first study of genome-wide expression of electrotherapy (delivered via TTFields or Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)) on brain tumor cell lines. The effects of electric fields were assessed through gene expression arrays and combinational effects with chemotherapies. We observed that both DBS and TTFields significantly affected brain tumor cell line viability, with DBS promoting G0-phase accumulation and TTFields promoting G2-phase accumulation. Both treatments may be used to augment the efficacy of chemotherapy in vitro. Genome-wide expression assessment demonstrated significant overlap between the different electrical treatments, suggesting novel interactions with mitochondrial functioning and promoting endoplasmic reticulum stress. We demonstrate the in vitro efficacy of electric fields against adult and pediatric high-grade brain tumors and elucidate potential mechanisms of action for future study. 相似文献

The aim of this work was to compare selected properties (hardness, cohesiveness, adhesiveness, characteristics of fat globules, pH, meltability and sensory characteristics – homogeneity, rigidity and flavour) of processed cheeses (dry matter content 40 g/100 g; fat in dry matter content 50 g/100 g) made with traditional emulsifying salts (sodium salts of phosphates) and products in which the traditional emulsifying salts were replaced with 1 g/100 g κ-carrageenan. The development of the above-mentioned properties was studied in dependence on the maturity level of cheese (raw material; 1–16 weeks' maturity). The samples made without the use of traditional emulsifying salts were nearly five times as hard as the products with phosphates regardless of the maturity level of cheese. In both types of samples, hardness was decreasing and adhesiveness was rising with the increasing maturity level of cheese. Meltability of the samples without traditional emulsifying salts was very low and remained practically unchanged with the increasing maturity level of cheese. On the other hand, in the processed cheeses with phosphates, meltability was increasing with the rising maturity level of cheese. 相似文献

An Erratum has been published for this article in Journal Of the Science of Food and Agriculture 85(5), 889 (2005). Native starches were extracted from 21 cultivars of four yam species representative of the yam population of Ivory Coast. They were first characterized for their proximate composition, starch physico‐chemical properties (amylose content, particle size distribution, crystallinity, thermal properties and intrinsic viscosity). Some functional properties (swelling, solubility and pasting behaviour and paste clarity) were then determined. Analysis of variance and principal component analysis showed that three homogenous groups could be distinguished, mainly based on starch physico‐chemical properties. The first group contained all yam starches of the D alata and the D cayenensis‐rotundata complex species. It was characterized by a large diameter grain (approximately 25 µm), a high amylose content (around 25% db), a high intrinsic viscosity (mean of 190 cm3 g?1), and a high apparent viscosity and clarity of the paste. The second group contained the D esculenta varieties, characterized by a small granule size (diameter 6 µm), a low intrinsic viscosity (121 cm3 g?1), a high gelatinization enthalpy change (19 J g?1) and a low paste viscosity. The D dumetorum sample differed from the D esculenta group by having a pure A‐type crystalline form and an opaque paste. A multiple regression showed that the volume fraction of the dispersed phase and native granule size (or amylose content) could account for close to 80% of the variability of paste apparent viscosity. Known genetic variation, in conjunction with post-PCR melting curve analysis, can be leveraged to provide increased taxonomic detail for pathogen identification in commercial molecular diagnostic tests. Increased taxonomic detail may be used by clinicians and public health decision-makers to observe circulation patterns, monitor for outbreaks, and inform testing practices. We propose a method for expanding the taxonomic resolution of PCR diagnostic systems by incorporating a priori knowledge of assay design and sequence information into a genotyping classification model. For multiplexed PCR systems, this framework is generalized to incorporate information from multiple assays to increase classification accuracy. An illustrative hierarchical classification model for human adenovirus (HAdV) species was developed and demonstrated ~95% cross-validated accuracy on a labeled dataset. The model was then applied to a near-real-time surveillance dataset in which deidentified adenovirus detected patient test data from 2018 through 2021 were classified into one of six adenovirus species. These results show a marked change in both the predicted prevalence for HAdV and the species makeup with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. HAdV-B decreased from a pre-pandemic predicted prevalence of up to 40% to less than 5% in 2021, while HAdV-A and HAdV-F species both increased in predicted prevalence. 相似文献
