In IEEE 802.16 networks, bandwidth request–grant schemes are employed for reducing data collision and supporting various QoS requirements. In this paper, we investigate the impact of such schemes on Best-Effort (BE) traffic. We examine three candidate schemes. In the first scheme, each Subscribe Station (SS) attempts to request bandwidth in every frame to reduce delay. In the second scheme, the number of bandwidth request is limited to avoid collisions in bandwidth request. In the third scheme, a base station allocates bandwidth to each SS based on the measured sending rate without explicit bandwidth request. We quantitatively analyze the performance of these schemes in terms of the collision rate and buffer length. We also present a simulation study to validate our analysis and to observe the impact of these schemes on BE traffic. This paper shows that IEEE 802.16 networks can be effectively managed through appropriate bandwidth request schemes. It is also shown that bandwidth allocation without request can be an alternative for increasing utilization. 相似文献

The Semantic Web and ontologies have received increased attention in recent years. The delivery of well-designed ontologies enhances the effect of Semantic Web services, but building ontologies from scratch requires considerable time and effort. Modularizing ontologies and integrating ontology modules to a given context help users effectively develop ontologies and revitalize ontology dissemination. Therefore, various tools for modularizing ontologies have been developed. However, selecting an appropriate tool to fit a given context is difficult because the assumptions for the approaches greatly vary. Therefore, a suitable framework is required to compare and help screen the most suitable modularization tool.In this research, we propose a new evaluation framework for selecting an appropriate ontology modularization tool. We present three aspects of tool evaluation as the main dimensions for the assessment of modularization tools: tool performance, data performance, and usability.This study provides an implicit evaluation and an empirical analysis of three modularization tools. It also provides an evaluation method for ontology modularization, enabling ontology engineers to compare different modularization tools and easily choose an appropriate one for the production of qualifying ontology modules.The experimental results indicate that the proposed evaluation criteria for ontology modularization tools are valid and effective. This research provides a useful method for assessing and selecting ontology modularization tools. Modularization performance, data performance, and usability are the three modularization aspects designed and applied to the context of ontology. We provide a new focus on the comprehensive framework to evaluate the performance and usability of ontology modularization tools. The proposed framework should be of value to both ontology engineers, who are interested in ontology modularization, and to practitioners, who need information on how to evaluate and select a specific type of ontology tool in accordance with the requirements of the individual environment. 相似文献

As the ITER is being constructed, there is a growing anticipation for an earlier realization of fusion energy, so called fast-track approach. Korean strategy for fusion energy can be regarded as a fast-track approach and one special concept discussed in this paper is a two-stage development plan. At first, a steady-state Korean DEMO Reactor (K-DEMO) is designed not only to demonstrate a net electricity generation and a self-sustained tritium cycle, but also to be used as a component test facility. Then, at its second stage, a major upgrade is carried out by replacing in-vessel components in order to show a net electric generation on the order of 300 MWe and the competitiveness in cost of electricity (COE). The major radius is designed to be just below 6.5 m, considering practical engineering feasibilities. By using high performance Nb3Sn-based superconducting cable currently available, high magnetic field at the plasma center above 8 T can be achieved. Bacterial wilt (BW) disease from Ralstonia solanacearum is a serious disease and causes severe yield losses in chili peppers worldwide. Resistant cultivar breeding is the most effective in controlling BW. Thus, a simple and reliable evaluation method is required to assess disease severity and to investigate the inheritance of resistance for further breeding programs. Here, we developed a reliable leaf-to-whole plant spread bioassay for evaluating BW disease and then, using this, determined the inheritance of resistance to R. solanacearum in peppers. Capsicum annuum ‘MC4′ displayed a completely resistant response with fewer disease symptoms, a low level of bacterial cell growth, and significant up-regulations of defense genes in infected leaves compared to those in susceptible ‘Subicho’. We also observed the spreading of wilt symptoms from the leaves to the whole susceptible plant, which denotes the normal BW wilt symptoms, similar to the drenching method. Through this, we optimized the evaluation method of the resistance to BW. Additionally, we performed genetic analysis for resistance inheritance. The parents, F1 and 90 F2 progenies, were evaluated, and the two major complementary genes involved in the BW resistance trait were confirmed. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of sowthistle (Ixeris dentata, IXD) on development and expression of nicotine-induced locomotor sensitization and underlying neuronal activation reflected by c-Fos expression in rats. Rats were pretreated with IXD 30 min before a daily injection of nicotine during an 8-day development phase and then challenged with nicotine after a 6-day withdrawal period. In another set of experiments, same IXD doses were administered once 30 min before nicotine challenge. Daily IXD treatment during development phase was not effective in blocking nicotine-induced locomotor sensitization in rats. However, a single IXD treatment after the development and withdrawal periods of nicotine sensitization significantly alleviated sensitized locomotor behavior on day 15. These behavioral results were coincident with significant inhibition of nicotineinduced c-Fos expression in the nucleus accumbens. These results indicated that IXD pretreatment significantly blocked the expression, but not the development of nicotine-induced locomotor sensitization in rats. 相似文献

A conceptual design study for a steady-state Korean fusion DEMO reactor (K-DEMO) has been initiated. Two peculiar features need to be noted. First, the major radius is designed to be just below 6.5 m, considering practical engineering feasibilities. But still, high magnetic field at the plasma center around 8 T is expected to be achieved by using current state-of-the-art high performance Nb3Sn strand technology. Second, a two-stage development plan is being considered. In the first stage, K-DEMO will demonstrate a net electricity generation but will also act as a component test facility. Then, after a major upgrade, K-DEMO is expected to show a net electric generation on the order of 300 MWe and the competitiveness in cost of electricity (COE). Feasibility of such a practical, near-future demonstration reactor is studied in this paper, based on a zero dimensional system analysis code study. It was shown that a net electric generation on the order of 300 MWe can be achieved below the optimistic βN limit of 5. The elongation of K-DEMO is around 1.8 with single null configuration. The influence of pre-strain on the formation of bimodal grain structures and tensile properties of a Co-20 Cr-15 W-10 Ni alloy was investigated.The bimodal grain structures consist of fine grains(FGs;2-3 μm in diameter) and coarse grains(CGs;8-16 μm in diameter),which can be manipulated by changing the pre-strain(ε=0.3-0.7) and annealing temperatures(1000-1100℃).High pre-strain applied in the samples can intensify the plasticity heterogeneity through increasing the total dislocation density and the local volumes of high-density dislocations.This can essentially result in finer FGs,a higher FG volume fraction,and overall grain refinement in the samples after annealing.High-temperature essentially increases both the size and volume fraction of CGs,leading to an increase in the average grain size.The tensile test suggests that the bimodal grain structured samples exhibited both high strength and ductility,yield strengths of621-877 MPa and ultimate tensile strengths of1187-1367 MPa with uniform elongations of 55.0%-71.4%.The superior strength-ductility combination of the samples arises from the specific deformation mechanisms of the bimodal grain structures.The tensile properties strongly depend on the size ratio and volume fraction of FGs/CGs in addition to the average grain size in the bimodal grain structures.The grain structures can be modified via changing the pre-strain and annealing temperature. 相似文献

Crack‐free γ‐Al2O3‐coated glass‐bonded SiC membranes were successfully prepared using a simple heat‐treatment and dip‐coating process at a temperature as low as 850°C in air. The changes in the porosity, flexural strength, flux, and oil rejection rate of the membranes were investigated while changing the initial SiC particle size. Larger SiC particles led to bigger pores, resulting in higher flux in the oily water and a lower oil rejection rate. The SiC membranes with a support prepared from 10 μm SiC powder showed an exceptionally high oil rejection rate (99.9%) with a feed oil concentration of 600 mg/L at an applied pressure of 101 kPa. The typical porosity, flexural strength, steady state flux, and oil rejection rate of the alumina‐coated SiC membrane were ~45%, ~81 MPa, 1.78×10?5 m3 m?2s?1, and 99.9%, respectively. 相似文献

With the vision of being an early demonstrator of fusion energy, the strategic plans for the Fusion DEMO program of Korea (K-DEMO program) has been developed. A staged development of the K-DEMO plant was considered in the strategic plans as to verify technical feasibility in the first stage and economic feasibility in the second stage. The top-tier design requirements and assumptions of the first stage K-DEMO plant are defined and postulated. With these requirements and assumptions, the desired and current status of nuclear fusion technologies are compared to identify the gaps to be filled to design, fabricate, construct, and operate it. The pathways from KSTAR, ITER to K-DEMO plant have also been studied to identify R&D activities for K-DEMO program that are to go in parallel with KSTAR and ITER are extracted from the pathways. Cross-cutting with the fusion R&D activities of the other countries and utilizing the commonalities with the existing systems are discussed with the provision of open-innovation strategy that is one of the key strategies of K-DEMO program. The priority of the R&D activities of K-DEMO program is qualitatively determined in consideration of the gaps, cross-cutting, and risks associated with the R&D investments. 相似文献

The MgO-CaO composites films were prepared by e-beam evaporation to improve both operating voltages and memory coefficient of a protective layers for AC plasma display panels (PDPs). The effects of CaO addition to the conventional MgO films on both the electrical properties and the structural changes of the Mg1–xCaxO thin films deposited on the slide glass substrates were investigated. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) results revealed that the Mg0.8Ca0.2O film had a very rough surface due to the formation of a second phase on the surface. By adding controlled amount of CaO, the Mg-Ca-O films showed a firing voltage of 176 V that is lower than that of the conventional 100% MgO film. The deposition rates of 40–100 nm/min were obtained as a function of [CaO/(MgO+CaO)] ratio of the evaporation source materials. 相似文献
