B- to Z-DNA transitions play a crucial role in biological systems and have attracted the interest of researchers for their applications in DNA nanotechnology. DNA and DNA analogues have also been used as templates to construct helical chromophore associations with π interactions. In this work, the B- to Z-DNA transition-induced switching of pyrene in an association manner was evaluated using DNA duplexes with non-nucleosidic pyrene residues in the middle of d(CG) repeat sequences. One of the pyrene-labeled DNAs was shown to exhibit inverted exciton coupled circular dichroism signals upon pyrene association through a B- to Z-DNA transition. This observation indicates that pyrene association switches the DNA conformation from right- to left-handed. Interestingly, the fluorescence of the pyrene-labeled DNA duplex also dynamically changed upon switching of the pyrene in an association-based manner. Taken together, these studies demonstrate that pyrene-labeled DNA shows promise as a chiroptical molecular switch.  相似文献

Aluminum (Al) particles are commonly used in ammonium perchlorate (AP) composite propellants of solid rockets for increasing performance. When propellants including Al particles burn, Al particles easily agglomerate on the burning surface of the propellant. The diameters of agglomerated Al particles are greater than those of mixed particles. The combustion efficiency of the propellant decreases with increasing burning time of the agglomerated Al particles. Therefore, it is important to observe how the agglomerated Al particles burn on the burning surface of AP composite propellant. A lot of researchers have studied Al agglomerate characteristics. Previous studies clarified the relation between the agglomerated Al particle diameter and luminous flame diameter around Al particles near the burning surface. The shapes of luminous flames around agglomerated Al particles are spherical or elliptical. This study evaluates the shapes of the luminous flame around agglomerated Al particles at a constant diameter or a different diameter. When the proportion of the luminous flame diameter (Df) to the diameter of agglomerated Al particles (D0) is 1.54–1.71 at a constant D0, the luminous flames are almost perfectly spherical. Otherwise, the luminous flames are elliptical at a constant D0. Furthermore, when Df/D0 is close to the mean value, the luminous flame is more spherical than elliptical at different D0. The evaporation rate and the burning rate of Al vapor are inversely proportional to D0. The oxidation gas temperatures were changed and the activation energy of Al vapor was obtained as 39.2 kJ mol−1.  相似文献

Microbial synthesis of copolymers of [R]-3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB) and 4-hydroxybutyrate (4HB), P(3HB-co-4HB), by Alcaligenes eutrophus, Alcaligenes latus, and Comamonas acidovorans from various carbon sources has been studied. The copolyester compositions varied from 0 to 100 mol% 4HB, depending on the microorganism and the combination of carbon substrates supplied. The thermal and physical properties of compositions with 0–100 mol% 4HB were investigated. The copolyesters represented a wide variety of polymeric materials, from hard crystalline plastic to very elastic rubbers, depending on composition. The copolyester films with high 4HB fractions (64–100 mol% 4HB) exhibited the characteristics of a thermoplastic elastomer, and the tensile strength increased from 17 to 104 MPa as the 4HB fraction increased. The enzymatic degradation of P(3HB-co-4HB) films was studied in an aqueous solution of extracellular polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) depolymerase from Alcaligenes faecalis or lipase from Rhizopus delemer. The erosion rate of P(3HB-co-4HB) films was strongly dependent on the copolymer composition. In addition, environmental degradation of P(3HB-co-4HB) films in sea water was investigated.  相似文献

A measurement method for an unsteady temperature field by using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and image processing technique is presented. In this study, the results measured by this method were compared with the calculated results under Reynolds numbers (Re = UL/v) ranging to less than 350 in the steady-state. The unsteady characteristics of the local Nusselt numbers (Nux = αxL/λ) around an elastically vibrating plate were investigated under the conditions that the reduced frequency (N = 1/Ro) ranged from 4.8 to 8.6 and the amplitude of vibration was kept small relative to the plate length. In this study it was clarified that the distributions of the Local Nusselt numbers were observed flutteringly, and that the phase of the time-averaged Nusselt number is delayed compared to the phase of the velocity at the trailing edge. These results indicate that the enhancement of the time-averaged heat transfer coefficient around the vibrating plate depended on the Rossby number. © 1997 Scripta Technica. Inc. DNA is considered to be a promising biomolecule as a template and scaffold for arranging and organizing functional molecules on the nanoscale. The construction and evaluation of DNAs containing multiple functional molecules that are useful for optoelectronic devices and sensors has been studied. In this paper we report the efficient incorporation of perylenediimide (PDI) units into DNA by using abasic sites both as binding sites and as reactive sites and the construction of PDI stacks within the DNA structure, accomplished through the preorganization of the PDI units in the hydrophobic pocket within the DNA. Our approach could become a valuable method for construction of DNA/chromophore hybrid structures potentially useful for the design of DNA‐based devices and biosensors.  相似文献

Direct internal and external reforming operations on Ni-samaria-doped ceria (SDC) anode with the practical size solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) at intermediate temperatures from 600 to 750 °C are carried out to reveal the reforming activities and the electrochemical activities, being compared with the hydrogen-fueled power generation. The cell performance with direct internal and external steam reforming of methane and their limiting current densities were almost the same irrespective of the progress of reaction in the methane reformate at 700 and 750 °C. The durability test for 5.5 h at 750 °C with direct internal reforming operation confirmed that the cell performance did not deteriorate. The operation temperature of the cell controlled the reforming activities on the anode, and the large size electrode gave rise to high conversion due to the slow space velocity of the steam reforming. Direct internal steam reforming attained sufficient level of conversion for SOFC power generation with methane at 700 and 750 °C on the large Ni-SDC cermet anode.  相似文献

Fluorine compounds have high discharge voltage due to its highly ionic metal-ligand bonds. In them, perovskite-type metal trifluorides with corner sharing matrix have large bottlenecks of diffusion pathways for intercalants. Iron trifluoride composites (FeF3-C) prepared by planetary ball milling with carbon showed reversible charge/discharge behavior not only for Li, but also for Na anodes. X-ray diffraction and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy were applied to characterize the electrochemical properties of FeF3 vs. Li and Na anodes. The cathode performances of the other commercially available transition metal trifluorides such as MF3 (M = Ti, V, Mn, Co) have been also investigated.  相似文献

The effects of Pt and Pd addition to a Zr-20Nb alloy on its microstructure and mechanical property, as well as the elution of metals from the alloys in lactic acid solution, were investigated. The microstructure was characterized with an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), an optical microscope (OM), and a transmission electron microscope (TEM). The mechanical properties were evaluated by a tensile test. The β phase is dominantly observed in the Zr-20Nb as well as in the Pt-added and Pd-added Zr-20Nb alloys. Needle-like microstructures are observed in equiaxed grains in all alloys. Pd addition to the Zr-20Nb alloy suppresses ω phase formation more than Pt addition does. The 0.2% offset yield strength and the ultimate tensile strength of the Pt-added and Pd-added Zr-20Nb alloys increase with the Pt and Pd concentrations. XRD analysis revealed that the lattice parameter of β-Zr in the Pt-added and Pd-added Zr-20Nb alloys decreases with the Pt and Pd concentrations. Pt and Pd solute in β-Zr as a substitutional element and contribute to the increase in the strength by solid solution hardening. The addition of 2Pt and 2Pd to the Zr-20Nb alloy also improves metal elution from the alloys in lactic acid solution.  相似文献

An ionic-polymer–metal-composite film shows electro-mechanical coupling. When the film is bent, electric current is induced. Measurement of the induced current indicates that the current depends on the speed of bending, but the total amount of the charge transferred across the film is independent of the speed, and depends only on the magnitude of the bending. The result indicates that in addition to previously proposed dynamical coupling effect, there is a static electro-mechanical coupling effect. Mathematical model is proposed to describe this phenomena.  相似文献
