Nanofluids perform a crucial role in the development of newer technologies ideal for industrial purposes. In this study, Nitrogen-doped graphene (NDG) nanofluids, with varying concentrations of nanoparticles (0.01, 0.02, 0.04, and 0.06 wt%) were prepared using the two-step method in a 0.025 wt% Triton X-100 (as a surfactant) aqueous solution as a base. Stability, zeta potential, thermal conductivity, viscosity, specific heat, and electrical conductivity of nanofluids containing NDG particles were studied. The stability of the nanofluids was investigated by UV–vis over a time span of 6 months and concentrations remain relatively constant while the maximum relative concentration reduction was 20 %. The thermal conductivity of nanofluids was increased with the particle concentration and temperature, while the maximum enhancement was about 36.78 % for a nanoparticle loading of 0.06 wt%. These experimental results compared with some theoretical models including Maxwell and Nan’s models and observed a good agreement between Nan’s model and the experimental results. Study of the rheological properties of NDG nanofluids reveals that it followed the Newtonian behaviors, where viscosity decreased linearly with the rise of temperature. It has been observed that the specific heat of NDG nanofluid reduced gradually with the increase of concentration of nanoparticles and temperature. The electrical conductivity of the NDG nanofluids enhanced significantly due to the dispersion of NDG in the base fluid. This novel type of fluids demonstrates an outstanding potential for use as innovative heat transfer fluids in medium-temperature systems such as solar collectors.  相似文献

Cross-sectional liquid flow rate distribution of vapour liquid two phase flow of R123 in different herringbone microfin tubes has been measured. Droplet and liquid film flow rates are calculated with the measured data and assumptions for droplet distribution and slip ratio. Heat transfer coefficients of evaporation and condensation in herringbone microfin tubes have been measured using R22. Heat transfer enhancement mechanism by the herringbone microfins is discussed by using the measured data and numerically obtained cross-sectional flow field of a single phase flow. Flow rate of thin liquid film flowing on tube sides is affected by the helix angle and fin height. Larger helix angle and higher fin give thinner film. Liquid film flow rates in tube top and bottom are higher than tube sides. Droplet flow rate is increased with increase of helix angle and fin height, although the effect of fin height is not as pronounced as helix angle. Droplet radial mass velocity to tube side walls is increased with helix angle.  相似文献

The use of nitrilotriacetic acid end‐functionalized polystyrenes (NTA‐PS) as a multifunctional nanocarrier for the aqueous dispersion of CdSe, γ‐Fe2O3 and gold nanoparticles (NPs) is described. When the amphiphilic end‐ functionalized polystyrenes and NPs are dissolved together in tetrahydrofuran, the addition of water causes the spontaneous formation of micellar aggregates, resulting in the successful encapsulation and aqueous dispersion of NPs. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) are used to characterize the structure and properties of the NPs‐containing micellar aggregates (nanocarrier). After complexation of Ni2+ with NTA on the surface of the nanocarrier containing γ‐Fe2O3, specific binding between Ni‐NTA complex and histidine‐tagged (His‐tagged) proteins enables selective separation of His‐tagged proteins using a magnet.  相似文献

Foam-filled thin-wall structures exhibit significant advantages in light weight and high energy absorption. They have been widely applied in automotive, aerospace, transportation and defense industries. Quasi-static tests were done to investigate the crash behavior of the empty and polyurethane foam-filled end-capped conical tubes. Non-linear dynamic finite element analyses were carried out to simulate the quasi-static tests. The predicted numerical crushing force and fold pattern were found to be in good agreement with the experimental results. The energy absorption capacities of the filled tubes were compared with the empty end-capped conical tubes. The results showed that the energy absorption capability of foam-filled tube is somewhat higher than that of the combined effect of the empty tube and the foam alone. Finally, the crash performance of the empty and foam filled conical and cylindrical tubes were compared. Results from this study can assist aerospace industry to design sounding rocket carrier payload based on foam-filled conical tubes.  相似文献

Polyaniline-supported acid salts such as polyaniline-hydrochloride, polyaniline-sulfate and polyaniline-nitrate were prepared by oxidation of aniline using ammonium persulfate as oxidizing agents. Polyaniline salts were used as catalyst for the preparation of β-acetamido ketones. Polyaniline-sulfate salt was found to be the best catalyst for the preparation of β-acetamido ketones. Present methodology offers several advantages, such as cheaper process, easy synthesis of stable catalyst, simple work-up procedure, and excellent activity with less amount of catalyst and in addition, the catalyst can be easily recovered after completion of the reaction and reusable without affecting its activity.  相似文献

In this paper, the Dynamic Master Logic Diagram (DMLD) is introduced for representing full-scale time-dependent behavior and uncertain behavior of complex physical systems. Conceptually, the DMLD allows one to decompose a complex system hierarchically to model and to represent: (1) partial success/failure of the system, (2) full-scale logical, physical and fuzzy connectivity relations, (3) probabilistic, resolutional or linguistic uncertainty, (4) multiple-state system dynamics, and (5) floating threshold and transition effects. To demonstrate the technique, examples of using DMLD to model, to diagnose and to control dynamic behavior of a system are presented. A DMLD-based expert system building tool, called Dynamic Reliability Expert System (DREXs), is introduced to automate the DMLD modeling process.  相似文献

Fluconazole‐resistant Candida albicans is a big scary reality. The authors assessed the antifungal effects of magnetic iron‐oxide nanoparticles on fluconazole‐resistant colonising isolate of C. albicans and determined the expression of ERG11 gene, protein sequence similarity and ergosterol content. C. albicans isolates were characterised and fluconazole resistance is recognised using World Health Organization''s WHONET software. Susceptibility testing of magnetic iron‐oxide nanoparticles against fluconazole‐resistant colonising isolate of C. albicans was performed according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. The expression patterns of ERG11 and protein sequence similarity were investigated. Ergosterol quantification has been used to gauge the antifungal activity of magnetic iron‐oxide nanoparticles. The findings indicated that 93% of C. albicans isolates were resistant to fluconazole. Magnetic iron‐oxide nanoparticles were presented activity against fluconazole‐resistant colonising isolate of C. albicans with minimum inhibitory concentration at 250–500 µg/ml. The expression level of ERG11 gene was downregulated in fluconazole‐resistant colonising isolate of C. albicans. The results revealed no differences in fluconazole‐resistant colonising isolate of C. albicans by comparison with ERG11 reference sequences. Moreover, significant reduction was noted in ergosterol content. In this paper, an improved active contour model based on the time-adaptive self-organizing map with a high convergence speed and low computational complexity is proposed. For this purpose, the active contour model based on the original time-adaptive self-organizing map is modified in two ways: adaptation of the speed parameter and reduction of the number of neurons. By adapting the speed parameter, the neuron motion speed is determined based on the distance of each neuron from the shape boundary which results in an increase in the speed of convergence of the contour. Using a smaller number of neurons, the computational complexity is reduced. To achieve this, the number of neurons used in the contour is determined based on the boundary curvature. The proposed model is studied and compared with the original time-adaptive self-organizing map. Both models are used in several experiments including a tracking application. Results reveal the higher speed and very good performance of the proposed model for real-time applications.  相似文献
